Welcome to The Bluestocking, the best (perhaps only) online women's pub. Nothing in the food or drink can harm you, everything is served by a very enthusiastic crew of gerbils, who enjoy doing this and other interesting things. Any curious menfolk are welcome at the Staunch Ally down the road.

What's going on? Why is everything so weird today??

(sorry, that's big, isn't it)

ps. sorry to be so loud...

WearyAuldWumman · 03/10/2026 22:28

EmpressaurusKitty · 03/10/2026 21:42

The gerbils know better.

I now have an earworm of high-pitched squeaks of "Boily is a beetle!" to the tune of "Charlie is me darling!"

Probably because I've been away, Angle. The lack of my calming vibes or something.

Believe that and you'll believe anything...

You just had to share that, didn’t you?Hmm

AngleofRepose · 03/10/2026 22:31

What's happened to Glad? @AsWithGlad hope you're doing better? Saturday night at A&E 🌹Been there, done that! 😕

Sooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeee!

I don't have anything that takes the place of "The young chevalier!" however.

I do believe it, it's the only explanation that makes any sense. Where have all these weird people and weird threads come from? It seems like just Friday morning we were all (mostly) discussing useful things, now it's all just back and forth poking at each other 😬 (not in the Bluey, just everywhere else. Some very strange parking and AIBU threads, too...)

And now Glad's in A&E and Myrtle has her interview soon.

I think it's because the gerbils are missing. I'm so unsettled.

@AsWithGlad Goodness! Sending gentle hugs. Hope you're better soon.

Weary, I hope you're feeling a bit better as well? 🌺

Thank you. Just feeling sorry for myself. Can't decide whether the aches are flu, the myriad of places where my flabby body hit the concrete or the inevitable consequence of old age.

I'm off to get some more Lemsip - my nostrils are on fire. (1. That's too much information. 2. It keeps reminding me of a pop song for some reason.)

AsWithGlad · 03/10/2026 22:55

I’m free of the hospital now, having been shown a lot of care and kindness everywhere. Thank you all for your supportive thoughts.

I’ll catch up with The Bluestocking tomorrow.

Sleep well, Glad, and hope you feel much better in the morning. Flowers

AngleofRepose · 03/10/2026 23:05

I'm done, too. I hope tomorrow is a normal day. 🙄G'night, all!

If anyone hears any news about the gerbils, please send someone to wake me up. I promise I won't mind. Honest. Cross my heart.

ps. There's a rat in the Quilting Nook who says she's friends with Harriet, and wants a word with you, Boily. Something about a cookbook and a recipe for Human Stew.

I'm not totally sure what's going on here, but I reckon that bride is one of us. Tunnocks AND green/white/violet? Has to be. And it's not me, so who is it?

Today DH googled a music festival he went to about 50 years ago, & one thing led to another & we were both looking up Shakespeare productions we saw as teenagers. Turns out David Suchet was in both of mine, & Timothy Dalton in one. I had no idea!! DH had Topol, Keith Michel & Hannah Gordon.

There's a website selling, well, gift style stuff mostly, called Not On The High Street.

On it you can buy a Cheeses of the World poster.

Some may feel that there are cheeses missing.

Chersfrozenface · 04/10/2026 09:38

Adding picture of cheese poster.

When Graphic returns she could design a new one with the help of Gruyère & Gorgonzola.

All kinds of outrage here.
Baron Bigod isn't happy.

Dr Bessie & her team are ready to look after you, @AsWithGlad.

I’m still in bed but looking forward to Dr Bessie and team’s visit - they do do house calls? Never mind, I’ll pop into the Bluestocking shortly for some expert attention and cosseting.

Maybe Errol could give you a lift? I don’t think travelling by tractor or camel would be very comfortable.

You’re right about tractor and camel transport, but a gentle stroll would be good on such a sunny morning so I’ll do that. Soon. No need to trouble Errol, but thank you for the suggestion.

Isn’t it wonderful how close each of us always is to The Bluestocking, however many times it has to be packed up and moved?

😶

You make 1 rat recipe joke and suddenly everywhere you look there's a rat glaring at you. I may need to borrow a couple of the security capybaras.

I take up permanent residence at the Bluey between January and June, because its "free from" field means no sodding pollen. This year I've stayed longer because my room is also completely impervious to little biting things.
