Reality Rules Parkrun Launch 3 October 2026

IwantToRetire · 31/08/2026 00:48

Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

You are not a feminist. Please stop calling yourself that

Of course we’re feminists.

Are you here to tell us that if we were true feminists, we’d actually be prioritising men’s desires over women’s rights and needs?

Truly the clowns are everywhere these days

I cannot speak for the feminist credentials of any poster, but you are certainly not engaging with the facts of what Parkrun does and doesn't do.

Because people want to see their result? What is so bad about that?

And women want to see the results of the women’s category without including any men in that.

What a shocker 😱

They want to compare their result. Has this key bit of information passed you by?

Why are you comparing your results with others? Just look at your own?

also how many times have you come across what you are saying? How often do you look at the results, see that it’s ’a man in the women’s category’ and then it negatively affects your life? This is what I’m getting at, like really why do you care this much when it’s causing a lot of distress towards trans women right now. Like why do it if you know it’s fuelling transphobia? Maybe you personally are not transphobic but do you see how this will allow those who are to use it as an excuse?

also what is your stance on trans men? Because by your argument they are technically women but they will be taking hormones like testosterone which will supposedly make them stronger/fast right? So what about them? I’m assuming you’re involved in debates around the bathroom stuff too, which is linked to this, so if only cisgender women can be in women’s spaces then you’re cool with a burly looking trans man (or according to you, a woman) in women’s spaces?

This is very simple

Humans can’t change sex.

No man can be a woman.

Men have their own categories. No man should be registered in a woman’s category.

None of that is ‘transphobia’. It’s basic facts.

If parkrun want to be a fun run, then they can do without all categories and stop publishing results.

If they are going to publish results via category, then the categories should be accurate. Do you think it’s okay for a 25 year old to ‘identify’ as 15? No of course not. Then why would it be okay for a man to ‘identify’ as a woman?

I assume you could read my comment. Nowhere in that post have I called myself a feminist.

Your comprehension difficulties go a long way to explaining your non-arguments on this thread.

Vargas · Today 16:23

I have not met a single solitary person, amongst my mainly leftie friends and family, who think it’s fair for women’s sports to be invaded by men (whether they call themselves transwomen or not). If a sport has categories, they should be respected. Parkrun are contemptible in not doing this.

this is such a non issue like I get why the argument has popped up but feels like it’s all been blown out of proportion and it’s doing more harm than good. Can you not see that?

im guessing you don’t have any trans women in your life. It might do you some good to ask someone who is, how they feel about all this stuff.

Looks like you have accidently stumbled across 'Schrodingers Trans'

'The phenomenon whereby womens spaces, sports and spaces are so irrelevant and unimportant that women shouldn't mind giving them up while simultaneously being so consequential and necessary that men who call themselves women will die if they cant have them'

What has this got to do with ‘lefties’? It’s not about political leaning really. If you’d said ‘my trans friends’ then maybe you’d have a point, have you even asked a trans person how they feel about all this? I guess you probably don’t care do you

spannasaurus · Today 16:30

Why haven’t you answered my questions about trans men?

Transmen are women so belong in women's spaces.

If they take testosterone then they will be barred from any womens sports that don't allow doping

TheKeatingFive · Today 16:31

ProtectTransLives · Today 16:26

Why haven’t you answered my questions about trans men?

Trans identifying women do not take opportunities and placements from men in the same way.

They should compete in their sex class or an open class and obey any rules about drug use there.

Rollingpinofdoom · Today 16:32

CroatiaSailing · Today 12:49

@Rollingpinofdoom OK, but I am not stereotyping all trans people as being like that. I know not all gender critical women are like it as I am one myself.

@AimsAndObjectives from my point of view there would be nothing wrong with that. I can understand though that some trans people don’t want be outed and feel strongly that they want to be recognised by their self identified gender and they believe in gender ideology so would feel unwelcome in this scenario.

Edited

Ur you said people who didn’t show empathy were not decent human beings. And any male who goes into women’s spaces, takes places off women in sports and denounces women as bigots for saying no obviously lacks empathy wouldn’t you say? Even those very nice TIM who “just want to pee”.

Because that is the whole point. If it wasn't Parkrun wouldn't provide this information.

How often do you look at the results, see that it’s ’a man in the women’s category’ and then it negatively affects your life? This is what I’m getting at, like really why do you care this much when it’s causing a lot of distress towards trans women right now.

How can this simultaneously be hardly affecting anyone and also causing a lot of distress to trans women? It sounds as though you are saying that vanishingly few people would be negatively affected if the expectation were that data should be accurate.

also what is your stance on trans men? Because by your argument they are technically women but they will be taking hormones like testosterone which will supposedly make them stronger/fast right?

Well exactly. Please explain the very odd way that you seem to be inviting discrimination against women who identify as trans.

They won't necessarily be taking testosterone and nobody has any problem with them taking part in the open category. However, if they want to be competitive they will have to forego hormone treatment and take part as women like the skier Ellis Lundholm and they are just as disadvantaged as any other woman if the they compete against men. That is just one of the unavoidable consequences of sex.

For some reason people assume that women are able to compete in the sex category but not men, which tells you everything you need to know about who is really seen as female.

You may not be intensely competitive, but many participants are intensely competitive, including the club runners who set up the whole thing in the first place.

You really are showing your prejudices: Women should not care about competition (regardless of how they identify). Men's egos should not be wounded (regardless of how they identify)

Nobody is expecting a trans person to be treated any differently to anyone else.

Either sex is unimportant and it can be ignored, or it is important (as it is in a competitive time trial in a sport like running) and sex classifications are necessary.

This is even made clear in the GRA, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

I don't care how men feel on this issue.

I care how women feel.

iwishitwouldstartraining · Today 16:56

It really does become evident on threads like this that, despite the claims of some posters, pretty much nobody believes that Trans Women are Women.

Raspbellies · Today 17:00

SadiraOfTyr · Today 12:15

Out of interest, how would you feel about a 20 year old registering as a 7 year old and running in junior ParkRun?

It will take decent men doing this for parkrun HQ to open up their bigoted little brains and expose their sexism. Start thrashing the speeding running club teens and their parents will go mental.

(Won't work if women do it though, we're too tiddly and squeaky for them to hear us)

This is not a non issue because you said so.

As previously stated by myself and others, where does this end? If we aren’t even entitled to our own gender categories in public “fun runs” or however you want to refer to parkrun as, it’s the beginning of the erosion of women’s rights. It’s pretty important tbh.

Sex categories, not gender, it's gender identity that's the issue here.
