Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

I think I'll put my parkrun gender as male and my parkrun age as 69. Reckon I'd get a pretty good placing in the VM65-69.

It's the osteo you see. Makes my man gender much older than it would be as a woman.

I identify as 14 years old so I think I might go and run the junior parkrun and smash the junior race. No one can tell me how I identify because surely my feelings are more important than those annoying kids!

No, although you can use aids like mobility scooters, and your time would be logged the same 🤷‍♀️ and to be clear, I think that’s great. I don’t think we should exclude disabled people, and I don’t think we exclude trans people.

Many people run with prams etc, because it’s not a race.

If it’s not a race I should be able to use a motorbike. Or ride a horse.

Parkrun issues rankings and age/gradings by gender. It’s meaningful for men and meaningless for women. Why should women not receive fair results too?

Parkrun receives huge amounts of public money to increase participation of women and girls. They can’t show that they are doing this if the category is meaningless.

As the figure globally is that about 3 million women and girls have taken part in or volunteered at a park run, and about 0.5-1% of the population is trans, I think there is plenty of evidence of women and girls’ participation levels. You have to ignore all the maths to pretend we don’t know about women and girls participating.

They wriggle anywhere that they think they can paint women as trivial or petty for wanting something that is sinehow also a critical, almost life or death matter for the transwomen who also want it.

Schrodinger's Race. Sits next to Schrodinger's Bogs, Schrodinger's Bookclub and all those other trophies for beating on women in the TRA display cabinet.

Exactly. They want to carve out a little space where they dominate and have people fawning over them as laydeeees. Not on my watch, boys! And that’s because even though I don’t give much of a fuck about people running in parks, I do care about sexism/misogyny, cheats and bullying.

Trans people are not excluded from anything and should not keep pretending that they are. If men are not excluded from female sports and spaces etc, then these sports and spaces become mixed sex.

I’m also not an Olympic boxer but I care about men cheating and getting to punch women in the face, too.

parkrun is clear that bikes (and I’d presume horses) aren’t permitted for safety reasons rather than competitiveness reasons. It’s fairly clear why it would be dangerous to plough through hundreds of joggers on a bike. I think if your arguments are getting to the point of WHAT ABOUT A HORSE! then you’ve lost a bit of credibility / got a bit silly really 😬

Let’s say Eileen is a transwoman. Eileen registers for Parkrun as a woman. On the day Eileen runs everyone can see that Eileen is male. No one knows that Eileen is supposed to be a woman. The only point at which Eileen ‘s ‘womanhood’ matters is when all those women who finished behind Eileen find themselves one place down the rankings. Eileen meanwhile finds themselves further up the rankings for the category they are in (women) than they would have done had they been in the correct category (men). Eileen feels great. Women are cheated.

But yea, it’s totally not about prioritising male feelings.

Absolutely.

If you care about women (anyone) being punched in the face because of the physical harm repeated concussive blows have on the brain, you'd simply want to ban boxing not impose limits on who can punch each other.

Your arguments have zero credibility from the start. “What about the sad men, who gives a fuck about a few women!” My argument shows how seriously I take your misogynistic special pleading.

I’m open to arguments for banning all boxing, but even you must realise thats a complete non sequitur. I said I care about sexism and misogyny.

And how many men should hold the records in the women's categories, in your opinion?

That might be a forgivable lack of understanding had you not been posting here long enough to know very very well both the higher power of a male punch and the relative fragility of a female skull.

As it is, you know this perfectly well. Which makes your comment utterly disgusting.

Do you think because a wonan consents to fight other women, she has no right not to consent to fight men as well?

Every now and then it's worth taking a step back to wonder how we got to a place where someone can say with a straight face, and probably genuinely believes, that suggesting riding a horse in a footrace is farcical, but suggesting a man runs in the women's race is so reasonable that anyone objecting is just weird.

It is all the blows received that injure the brain not just ones from a massively more powerful opponent.

Huge numbers of sports players (male and female) suffer from these in rugby, football (just from heading the ball, which is why it's being progressively banned in youth games/training), American football, boxing, ...

Indeed. As I said before. Can people even hear themselves.

GreenwayHouse · 02/10/2026 10:27

Parkrun won’t even remove the long standing record in Aberystwyth set by “Lauren” Jeska. A man who is now in a (women’s) prison for stabbing his coach. If they remove his record, they have to concede that all men do not belong in the women’s category. A bit like “Isla” Bryson, the Scottish rapist. You either claim them all or none.

They could just say "we remove records of convicted criminals"...

Yes, and for some of us (the sane among us) men competing in the women’s category is the same as having a motorbike in a bicycle race etc. I’m not denigrating women by saying that but it’s a fact that men have distinct physical advantages over women.

The category for which they register.

That’s been suggested before but there could be people running (in the correct category) who may be convicted criminals. They may be reformed. Why should they be discriminated against because a man runs as a woman?

BackToLurk · 02/10/2026 10:31

It's probably worth adding that anyone who suggests that a mobility scooter is comparable to a motorbike has little knowledge of either disability or the reality of Parkrun events.

Once again, parkrun is NOT a race. It’s a community event!

You can’t ride a horse or a motorbike through hundreds of joggers for safety reasons, not competition / ‘fairness’ reasons.

Yes. And sex still makes a significant difference.

As long as the sports are not banned, why don't you think women should be allowed the choice to participate in female-only categories that reduce their risk considerably?
