Graham Linehan on Jon Ronson's new book

My ex-friend Jon Ronson may be a case study in the corrupting toxicity of trans ideology. An interesting read.

His book chapter about me stands as an indictment of him and the cowardly social class of people who refuse to confront uncomfortable truths

I doubt Glinner knew what the 19th amendment was when he retweeted that. Yes he should have checked, but condemning someone for a retweet of a vague reference is seriously scraping the barrel.

It is, and that’s why people do it, because they have fuck all else for an argument.

It’s not just condemning someone. It’s meant to condemn the entire opposition to men being women.

Glinner tweeted something questionable, ergo anyone who says TWAM is horrible, ergo TWAW.

It’s laughably sad that’s all they’ve got.

Thank you for providing something to comment on.
I don't see that the tweet made fun of RG's death, and all though there is mention of the repeal of the 19th Amendment, one in a long list of things mentioned in the tweet, I don't think GL retweeted it was showing support for it being repealed.
He only retweeted it, I don't see that he's added any comment to it, to show what he was supporting in the original tweet.
I'm not apologising for him, I'm not his keeper, he's a freeman he can tweet or retweet what he wants, he doesn't need mine or anyone else's permission.

What do you think retweeting is?

No, just Glinner for me.

On the outside chance you’re not being disingenuous about not knowing something pivotal in feminism, the 19th amendment in the US constitution gave voting rights to women (or to be more accurate, prohibited the government from prohibiting any citizen from voting on the basis of sex). It was passed in 1920.

Mikatdo · 04/10/2026 12:13

So any “Poor Glinner, yes, maybe he should have checked it first, but it isn’t an endorsement, he doesn’t think that, I’m sure he doesn’t know what the 19th amendment is” is being disingenuous. He knows retweets are endorsements, so whatever is in that tweet is, by implication, his opinion. That is how X works.

Pivotal in feminism in the USA, we already had the vote here and New Zealand gave women the vote 1893, Australia in 1894, Canada 1916. The suggestion that it's going to be repealed is ludicrous, although if women cease to exist as a category nobody's going to bother taking the vote off them anyway.

Pivotal in US feminism, maybe. I'm not American. But thanks.

So your'e American Mikatdo? How's the feminism going over there?

No, not American, just a woman aware of feminist history. I don’t tend to keep to my own country when reading about women’s rights as a whole. It doesn’t make sense to do so.

I would have agreed with you 10 years ago about the repealing, but not so much now, although it does seem remote. Women ceasing to exist as a category is even more remote than that.

I imagine that’s not unusual.

It’s a reaction to a post on social media. Very easy to do impulsively / not paying full attention. It’s not a declaration of belief signed in blood 🫠

Here is the re-tweet in question. There’s nothing funny about it at all. If you find it humorous, you’re being an apologist.

Apologist… this word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

Obviously you have had a sense of humour bypass & cannot recognise satire. It’s not meant to be taken literally just like Jonathan Swift wasn’t really suggesting that starving Irish parents should eat their children.

Any reason most women in the UK should be aware of details of US history? I didn’t know what it was either. It’s not something that’s on our school curriculum.

I would hazard a guess most women - most people - in the UK have no fucken clue what any particular US amendment relates to.

I have only a piecemeal knowledge of feminist history, but great to have someone with global knowledge here.

What other parts of feminism are you interested in?

I suspect that should America go full fascist and remove the right of women to vote for example or to have bank accounts or to hold jobs, that the number of men identifying as women would plummet like a fucking stone

Indeed. I know a reasonable amount of feminist history, but the US constitution is not one of my areas. I had no idea what the 19th amendment was, and I bet if you cast a vox pop in the uk, it wouldn’t be a winning answer on Family Fortunes if asked about US constitutional amendments. Pointless, maybe.
