Graham Linehan on Jon Ronson's new book

My ex-friend Jon Ronson may be a case study in the corrupting toxicity of trans ideology. An interesting read.

His book chapter about me stands as an indictment of him and the cowardly social class of people who refuse to confront uncomfortable truths

I notice that nobody on this thread is contradicting me when I said that he applauded the shooting of Renee Good.

I don't agree that it's just a sarcastic joke that Linehan retweeted, or that he didn't understand what he was doing because he is not American.

If we want to be a serious country with law & order, anything short of outright abolishment of the 19th amendment would be a grave half-measure."

It's obviously a sarcastic joke using pompous language.

Are you saying that the only biological changes that occur during puberty are that we stop growing? Even that is not true. There is a growth spurt during puberty in both males and females. There are all kinds of other biological changes.

Like what? we don't change biologically into another species, just like we don't change into another sex or another ethnic category. The changes that occur, like growth spurts, ageing, failing memory, developing cancer etc, are all a part of the natural way of our biology. Our DNA sets the boundaries on our physical structure.

We're all eventually going to die, it's a natural part of life, people's biology make them susceptible to diseases or conditions but it's not their biology that's changing it's their physical condition.

I don't know what GL said but I'd tell you some of the jokes that were doing the rounds down my way, but the Mods would object.
So some people tell jokes that some other people would find off colour, offensive (insert whatever outrage you want), it's called gallows humour.

Humour was that thing we had before everyone turned into Tut, Tutting Stepford wife's.

(Obviously Graham's recent behaviour and especially 'retard' is far from ok. Most have already argued this on this very thread so hardly a gotcha).

That's not true. These are the responses
Why is it ok to mock Ed Sheeran?
He mocked someone who mocked someone, shocker, without any details to go, so what?
It’s a horrible word. I hate it used as an insult. What relevance is that to Jon Ronson’s book?
'Miss, Miss, he used a bad word, Miss!'
And still, men cannot become women.
You seem ever so slightly obsessed with him.

All of them attempting to dismiss Linehan's abuse of a disabled woman.

He cheers on the cancellation of someone for GC views

Jon Ronson invited Graham Linehan to participate in his radio show, the episode on trans issues "I think it would be a great opportunity for people to hear you tell your story with plenty of space to tell it". Linehan turned him down because there can be no debate about whether men can become women.

How exactly does JR 'see both sides of an argument' rather than fuel polarisation here.

There are different categories that people put themselves in, or put other people in. Male/female, adult/child, black/white. All of these categories were originally purely biological but now they're not.

We used to think that when a child had puberty then they became adult. People in some parts of the world still believe that. We believe that about animals.

GC people are keen on saying we don't accept a white person pretending to be black so why do we accept a man pretending to be a woman. This is widely used as a gotcha however there are millions of people who call themselves black or Black or Afro-Caribbean or African-American who don't have much connection biologically to the continent of Africa. Black people can have black, brown or pale skin.

You could say that transwomen are the odd ones out here because they are biologically male. A transwoman who has been surgically altered and is taking female hormones isn't biologically the same as a man. That would be like saying that a bullock is biologically the same as a bull. Both bulls and bullocks have XY chromosomes but they are not biologically the same.

So if people want to accept transwomen as women they should be able to do that without being accused of ignoring reality or being delusional. You of course have a right to say that a transwoman is a man, just as you have the right to insist that a 13 year old is a woman.

Do you then think that a bullock is a cow or a heifer?

I didn’t agree with what he said about Renee Good. I’m saying it’s clearly bollocks that he thinks women shouldn’t vote, and it comes from the same bad faith place that JK Rowling named her pseudonym after a conversion therapist.

Exactly this. Why on earth people come onto this site to berate women about something a man who doesn't even live here talks about, is baffling.

I imagine it’s because he actually pops onto this board now and then to take part part in discussions, promote his book and trawl for donations towards his court actions? One thread is actually titled ‘Our Graham’.

And no. That 19th amendment tweet was not sarcastic in any way.

Does he, ooh. If he does then hopefully he'll get a lot of satisfaction out of knowing not everyone's brains have fallen out. There are some people who still have a sense of humour, and anyone who pops on here to slag him off is challenged and ask to prove receipts for their outrage slanders.

I still haven't seen any proof of his 19th Amendment quip by the way.

I have been trying to explain to you that not everything has to be biological.

I’d like to hear more of your science, it’s fascinating. In what way are bullocks biologically differently to bulls? A bullock is a castrated bull, how does this change them biologically from a bull? Do you think it makes a bullock some kind of cow?

Well he’s allowed to post here. What do you think we should be doing, campaigning to get him banned? 🫠

It must be crowded in there sharing with JKR. After all, there's not a lot of space

I don't know I think some people have way too much space between the ears, some spaces are so empty there's room enough to park a jumbo jet.

Here is the re-tweet in question. There’s nothing funny about it at all. If you find it humorous, you’re being an apologist.

I don’t agree with either the tweet or Glinner’s attitude to Renee Good. The 19th amendment isn’t the focus of it though, is it? Nor is it made clear what the 19th amendment is. It was an ill advised retweet. You’re reaching. It’s exactly the same as the silly “JKR named herself after a conversion therapist” trope.

Thank you for providing something to comment on.
I don't see that the tweet made fun of RG's death, and all though there is mention of the repeal of the 19th Amendment, one in a long list of things mentioned in the tweet, I don't think GL retweeted it was showing support for it being repealed.
He only retweeted it, I don't see that he's added any comment to it, to show what he was supporting in the original tweet.
I'm not apologising for him, I'm not his keeper, he's a freeman he can tweet or retweet what he wants, he doesn't need mine or anyone else's permission.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 04/10/2026 10:03

man alive

are we still doing 'he retweeted blasphemy! all must denounce him!' ?

When are people going to figure out that twitter means fuck all? everyone, including GL would have much happier lives if they just closed their account. It's just a place for angry people who achieve jack shit to rile each other

TheKeatingFive · 04/10/2026 10:11

I doubt Glinner knew what the 19th amendment was when he retweeted that. Yes he should have checked, but condemning someone for a retweet of a vague reference is seriously scraping the barrel.
