Australian womens rights activists recieve death threats in the lead up to a Sydney Womens rights rally

Sal Grover and Kirralee Smith, both recently fined ($100k and $95k) for misgendering men imposing on womens spaces, have recieved death threats from a range of transactivist organisations. Sal Grover, a single Mum, has pulled out. I don't blame her one bit. It is sickening that women exercising free speech in this country are subject to this bull sh*t. Kirralee has decided to proceed and both are Warriors. Let Women Speak events in Australia require (and tbf, recieve) considerable police presence in order to defend these (usually middle-aged) women from the "be kind" crowd, who have in the past been violent and are always abusive and disruptive. What Government boasts about having sex-parity with the party, and yet sides with Men who behave like this towards women asking for their rights? All of them, actually. In Australia our sex discrimination act was altered beneath the radar to remove the definition of women and men, and elevate gender identity, meaning that a man who identifies as a woman is for all purposes, a woman in law. This is what Sal and Kirralee are fighting for: a repeal of the changes. Our Prime Minister and his tribe of handmaidens call this a culture war. It is in fact a war on womanhood.

The Giggle for Girls app could have been classified as a permitted special measure if it was aimed at achieving equality for all women, and did not simultaneously perpetuate discrimination on a ground prohibited under the Sex Discrimination Act — namely, gender identity.

This proves the point 🤣🤡 . A man claiming to be a woman has to be included first before “special measures” are even considered. It didn’t even get to that part.

So the app/space/sport/prison has to be beneficial to women and men who say they’re women before you can determine it’s a space that is special enough to exclude men who don’t say they’re women and be considered a “special measure”.

Nope. Case in point women's sports as linked upthread.

There are no official white social media apps, that would be racial discrimination.

Your example would be more akin to supporting white people being able to black up and then claim discrimination if they are excluded from a group for black people.

Would you support that?

That is exactly the correct analogy

And just to add - if you think your friend is
generally an OK person then why not rethink the “limits to tolerance”
thing. Make your argument and see if you can convince her? Can we try and agree that cancel culture is unhelpful for everyone?

Also - I would like to understand what you mean by politics being downstream from
personality. If you have time 😁

Can we try and agree that cancel culture is unhelpful for everyone?

So you don't believe in freedom of association? Or that rhetoric that meets the legal bar for harassment shouldn't be illegal?

I kinda think there's something to be said for marginalising behaviour that's harmful to the flourishing of humans. That's why its an enduring evolutionary adaption. We marginalise pedophiles for a good reason not 'just 'cause'.

Thanks for backing up my point that some people are immune to information. I already stated upthread multiple times that special measures need to meet the criteria..& not all situations do.

Depends on the individual & the circumstances. If there's no physical risk or competitive disadvantage I think its fine but I think sporting bodies of individual sports are best placed to determine that because its not really my area of expertise given the complexity.

Should they be in the change rooms? My view is all change rooms should have locked cubicles because plenty of women are uncomfortable changing in front of others regardless of sex. So if discomfort is the bar it should be applied uniformly.

It really isn’t complex. Men are physically different to women, larger, stronger. Their muscles process differently. Their bones - particularly the Q angle - are different. In almost every sport a decent teenage male competitor can beat a woman Olympian who is top in the world. See the website https://boysvswomen.com/#/ or if you prefer an Australian example read about the match between the Matildas, the national women’s football team, and the Newcastle Jets u15s in 2016 where the boys trashed the women 7-0.

In sport we divide competitors into categories. We would never pit a para-athlete against an able bodied one or a heavyweight boxer against a lightweight or a 25 yo against a 4 yo because it would be ludicrously unfair and very poor sport.

We know from previous attempts at pitting women against men that this is incredibly dangerous for women. Fallon Fox a trans woman broke a woman’s skull in the ring and boasted about it afterwards. A young college athlete got permanent brain damage when a trans women on the opposing team hit a ball at her. Balls in women’s sport are often lighter than in men’s, courts are often smaller so greater strength and greater explosive power can be very dangerous.

Making women fight this on a case by case basis puts the onus on one individual woman to spend years going through the courts and spend many hundreds of thousands of pounds on lawyers. A massive disincentive if all you want is a quiet kick around with your mates on a Sunday morning.

And now it seems that women in Australia are receiving death threats for pointing out obvious inequalities and actual physical dangers to women.

Complex? Seriously?

If boys are faster than elite female athletes, should males compete in female athletics?

See how the best high school boys stack up against the best female Olympians and World Record holders in Track & Field and Swimming.

Yes, that's it. Because in Austraia, trans identified men are considered women in law.

A person who was born with a male body and heterosexual attraction to female bodies does not become a lesbian by taking oestrogen and chopping off body parts.

They are a heterosexual male who prefers to behave at the female end of the culturally defined gender spectrum.

The lunacy of the belief they have become a lesbian is, to me, the pinnacle of the lunacy of trans activism.

Males being attracted to females are very much demonstrating behaviour at the male end of the cuturally defined gender spectrum.

Men being attracted to women does not mean a man must act in a strictly masculine way. Gender roles and sexual desire do not always match up in rigid ways.

The sexual attraction is physical not cultural. The desire to dress "as a woman" while being sexually attracted to women is definitely cultural.

As an update, the women's rights rally went ahead in Sydney and by all accounts it was well attended (between 300-500) and with a late venue change, the TRAs didn't get their counter- protest permit in time so they had to protest at the original location 😘. Other cities have had these as well not not a whisper on ABC news about the rallies, the death threats, the purpose, or the women organising or involved.

Congratulations to Hansel there, who has successfully derailed an important thread about women receiving death threats.

The situation in Australia is appalling and those who excuse this kind of behaviour towards women should be arrested for terrorism, because that is what this is.

I hope there will be no further boring derailment. It’s obvious why this thread has been chosen.

The derailment is really sinister actually. The derailer is being dishonest by not stating his/her position that he/she believes trans-identified men can become women and therefore that exemptions should not be applied when tran-identified males men appropriate women's rights, because they are also women, and should have womens rights. This is the first act of dishonesty.
Then, while hiding this belief behind language that insults and condescends, he/she goes on to say that my original post, and all of the other posters who provided further clarification, are not factual. He calls us liars and accuses us of spreading misinformation and being ridiculous. The hysterical emotional woman trope.
The way he/she defends this is obscured by saying "exemptions exist but you have to meet the criteria".
Prior to the changes, the understanding was that there are 2 sexes, one of which has been historically disadvantaged physically and socially, and that combating this disadvantage included defining spaces that excluded the male sex, where it was deemed that this would provide opportunities for females to reach parity, or experience an environment without male domination (i.e. sport) or without male violence, including sexual violence, against women ( i.e. prisons, shelters, changerooms etc).
He does not address the violence that prompted this post. At all.
Bait and switch.
He does not acknowledge the legally enforced censorship in Australia, perpetrated by our national broadcaster and woven into every public service in the country as well as the judiciary, the police with pride flags in their stations, school pride clubs, health services with rainbow lanyards, LGBTIA whatever allies in workplaces.
When he is unable to be truthful about his position, he tells us we don't understand (too hard for women I guess), and that we lack comprehension and reading skills.
This is textbook gaslighting.
Not a single question asked out of curiosity.
Not a single acknowledgement of our losses.
Just the assumption that we are wrong, stupid, over-reacting and lying.
There is a telling snippet about how his friends have expressed wrong-think, so he's disappointed and needs to withdraw his lofty intellect from that space... this is how the hard-left operate exactly. Silence and excommunicate the "dissenters".
This is exactly how people respond to gender-critical voices in polite society, and is why it is difficult to gain ground.
A great demonstration of the hard-left modus operandi Id say.
Thank-you to the tenacious posters who challenged him all the way and made him tell on himself. I was to upset about the actual violence to do it.

@Manyanamanyana Thank you for the thread. Hansel's gaslighting and the subsequent clarifications from yourself and other posters mean that I actually have a much better understanding of the situation in Australia than before. I'm so glad that the women were able to meet. The threats are beyond awful. This is how men behave when they are told 'no'. They sow the seeds of their own movement's destruction.

FanOfGailDines · 23/08/2026 23:15

I looked to see if I could find any coverage in the Australian Press. If anyone finds coverage I'd be interested to see it. I really couldn't find much at all.

Women being able to fairly compete in Australian sports seems like such an obvious thing that should be fully discussed in the Australian Press. Aussie's love sports and are all about a 'fair go' right? Why would the press not cover a group of women, hundreds of women, advocating for this in city streets? The disadvantages to women in having men compete with them are crystal clear and indisputable.

Come on Aussie journalists! Be brave! Brave like those Aussie girls who are competing against men or standing up for themselves and saying they won't 'cause it isn't fair.

As it goes, I have personal experience of this, and I'm not talking about reddit either; it was an Aussie site! 😀A sports site, but I was rash enough to venture in the 'General' folder just the once. It was full of loons, including the moderators. I posted a link they didn't like, and got an immediate ban for two weeks, then a life ban from the General folder, and the promise of a ban from the whole site for any repetition. So I went back to the rugby league folder, and told them what happened, and they said, yeah, you want to steer well clear of those guys!
