Really?
"Most people seeking asylum are doing so as a direct result of European imperialism"
This is a totally ludicrous position to take.
"For eg The Taliban and their supports are not coming to the U.K- it’s young men who worked with the British and are now at extreme risk if they stay."
Really? Please have a read of my earlier post regarding Sky News where they totally debunked this idea.
According to the gov.uk website, over half of all asylum seekers arrived on rubber dinghys or hiding in lorries.
"Just over half (52%) of asylum seekers in the latest year arrived in the UK through illegal entry routes, typically on small boats."
Around 40% of asylum seekers were people who had entered the UK legally and then, when they overstayed their visa, claimed asylum.

The top six purported nationalities claiming asylum were:
Pakistan
Eritrea
Iran
Afghanistan
Bangladesh
Sudan
"...a direct result of European imperialism"
Hmm, let me think, when was the last time that Pakistan or Bangladesh might be said to have been under the yoke of "European imperialism"? Would that perhaps be 1947? What have these countries been doing since then?
Eritrea was an Italian colony up until 1941, Britain then administered Eritrea until 1952. After this date, the United Nations decided that Eritrea should be a part of Ethiopia. Again, what have these countries been doing for the last 70 years that their inhabitants now need to live here in the UK?
When it comes to Sudan there has been a civil war going on there since 2023. However, the last time that Britain was there was in 1956. The fact that Sudan is having a civil war in 2023, more than 65 years later cannot be placed at the feet of the UK.
With Iran, I do totally agree that anybody who escaped the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and/or who have sought refuge from the Iranian government since then who have murdered tens of thousands of people living there do likely have a right of asylum. However, if they have a right of asylum in a country nearby then it would be more appropriate to take up that right of asylum in a nearby country. Also, this is nothing at all to do with "European imperialism"
.
Other cases can be very different. Take, for example, the plight of the Indians expelled from Uganda in 1972. Around 50,000 people of Indian descent were expelled by President Idi Amin. Uganda has been an independent country since 1962.
At this time, many of these people were UK citizens and had a right of abode in the UK. Around half of these people immigrated to the UK (quite a few ended up in the city that I lived in) and many went on to be very successful. But this wasn't due to "European imperialism", rather it was due to the action of the African rulers of that state.
