Loyle Carner & JKR

Picked up a car of teens from Boardmasters last week and was really bothered to overhear some of their conversations.

Among the over stimulated wittering they were talking about how much they liked Loyle Carner and they loved it when he shouted that he hated Nigel Farage and the crowd roared, and then when he shouted about hating JKR and everyone whooped.

I was 🤨 and pointed out that rabble rousing and shouting about 'hating' specific people should generally be avoided. There were some mutterings about her deserving it and then the conversation moved on.

I chose my moment to broach the subject with the teen that belongs to me this week. They doubled down a bit and said, "but isnt she racist and homophobic and transphobic?" So we had a conversation about not forming our opinions from myth and rumour, and maybe pondering why a middle aged feminist was the priority for slagging off to a crowd of impressionable teens. Of all the people in all the world to raise a rabble against?!

I have googled and it seems this is an integral part of his act. There doesn't seem to be much commentary about it online though.

do you remember when strong older women, from Judy garland to Shirley Bassey were gay icons? Because beings strong and powerful against all odds were seen as qualities to be admired. Now young men spend their days abusing older women… how times have changed.

JKR's behaviour towards Imane Khelif, reposting of Islamophobic content and endorsement of racists when they're also transphobic, has been very widely noted.

Her ignorant, malicious comments about asexual people have travelled far as well.

Her reputation's in ruins. Most folk know her as someone who just keeps attacking trans people. And who hired Johnny Depp. But that campaign against a brown Muslim woman damaged her irreparably, as is right.

I see she reposted a repulsive, racist comment about Jason Arday earlier this week.

Good on those young people. Standing up against gleeful transphobia (and the rest) is what we're supposed to teach them.

There's a whole other thread on JKR's 'transphobia'. I believe we're still waiting for an example, with an explanation of what constitutes the transphobia.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/08/2026 14:30

Goodness me, you came out with all that piffle on the other thread and people patiently explained for the umpteenth time that Khelif is a male with a chromosomal disorder.

SwirlyGates · 15/08/2026 14:31

@TransParentlyAnnoyed JKR's behaviour towards Imane Khelif,

I don't need to read more of your post than that. I don't actually know what she said about Khelif - perhaps you could enlighten us? But whatever she said or did, he is a MAN (and yes, he absolutely knows he is a MAN) who got a gold medal for punching WOMEN in the face in the boxing ring. Please don't tell me you are on his side.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 15/08/2026 14:32

The other thing young people need to learn, is that opinions are not aggressive acts. There’s a surprising acceptance of people who say all the right things but actually commit crimes and hurt people, versus people who have done a huge amount of good but whose opinions are unpopular.

TheKeatingFive · 15/08/2026 14:34

She said Khelif is a man and has no business beating up women.

All obviously true.

But@TransParentlyAnnoyedisnt a big fan of the truth it would seem.

Exactly.

Its all about presenting the 'right' opinions, not what you actually do. Performatuve and shallow.

Very depressing really

Indeed. The only truthful thing I’ve ever seen her post is that Khelif comes from a conservative country. And she posts a lot. The rest is just lies and hyperbole.

You honestly just sound like a bot now. I know you are not, but that is how you sound. Just posting the same stuff again and again, with no real interaction. I honestly can't see the point, but I guess it keeps you occupied.

She called a brown Muslim cis woman, who's been repeatedly cleared to box and has often lost to other cis women, a man who enjoyed hitting women.

She explicitly called a heroic working-class Muslim woman, heroine to girls within her country, an abusive man.

That is despicable, and widely seen as racist for obvious reasons.

SwirlyGates · 15/08/2026 14:39

@TransParentlyAnnoyed that campaign against a brown Muslim woman

Are you referring to Khelif (the well-known MAN) with that comment? Good grief!

Only by you. Back in reality, we all know he’s a man who punched women.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 15/08/2026 14:42

I post truths you don't want to hear, notably the horrific effect online transphobia's having on trans kids in schools.

You don't want to hear them because you know you're part of that. Everyone who posts transphobic content is.

Going to defend JKR reposting that despicable comment about Jason Arday too?

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 15/08/2026 14:46

This was a reply to the tedious poster who called me a liar, btw.

But I guess lots of you defend that JKR repost. Outing yourselves as racists by attacking Khelif was a giveaway there.

Can't handle a cis Muslim woman being proud and strong rather than an object of Islsmophobic pity huh. What a surprise.

IlikethoseBalenciagas · 15/08/2026 14:47

Khelif is taking an awfully long time to sue JKR. Two years and counting......

Khelif has not been "repeatedly cleared to box" (against women). The International Boxing Association did physical tests and barred him. The IOC did no tests and accepted his "female" passport (I wouldn't call that being "cleared to box"). He had the opportunity to prove he was a woman in the Netherlands in 2025 but oh dear, he didn't do it. Wonder why not.

Come on TransParent, wake up.

Thomas Bach all but confirmed that Khelif has a DSD when he made a press announcement saying that this was not a DSD issue (referring to Khelif) and then had to issue a correction to say he should have said this was not a trans issue. Khelifs own team have referred to chromosomal differences.

You wouldn't know the truth if it formed itself into a marching band, called itself the Absolute Truth Pipers and performed on your front garden.

I just scroll past most of this poster’s fanciful diatribes. I literally don’t care what they/he/she says. But if I see misinformation being spread, like that about Khelif, a male boxer, I will counter it. Here on FWR, we resisted all the fake news and conspiracy theories about shady Russian plots at the time. There are multiple threads where people tried to spread disinformation and got shot down because many of us were fully informed about the situation. I imagine JKR knows everything there is to know about it too.

As said, it’s amazing Khelif’s lawsuit doesn’t seem to have come to anything, despite such a slam dunk case. Or that he didn’t just take the fucking sex test to compete.

I have seen the horrible effect on young people of the type of diatribe you spout, and no word of truth in it.
