Why do some people view JK Rowling as transphobic?

1000 replies

Backwardsbinn · 13/08/2026 20:33

Where do people get the idea that JK Rowling is transphobic from? Where? I’m having this argument with an acquaintance who tells me she’s the most transphobic person on earth but cannot point to one single thing that she’s done or said that’s transphobic. Is this the widest held totally bullshit view ever?

And yet she reduced this story of witch hunting a black academic to his 'fabulism'.

Which conveniently fits perfectly with her own particular political viewpoint in a thread about Arday.

https://x.com/jk_rowling/status/2089566545445847088?s=20

She didn’t ‘reduce it’ to anything. Although imagine my surprise when I discovered her words had been cherrypicked, misrepresented and stripped of the compassion in them.

Her focus was 'fabulism' so yeah she did.

Not going over the same old ground already repeated on this thread. You either haven't read it, can't remember or are incapable of understanding it.

You appeared to be saying that male violence, well documented across history and cultures and the subject of much public policy, is a ‘stereotype’ akin to “all Black men are gangsters”. That can’t really be your position can it?

Replace 'black' with 'trans women' for insight.

No, you don't.

I’ve managed to find the full ‘fabulist’ tweet. And the tweet JKR was replying to. Again I was unsurprised at just how much you and others had to misrepresent what she wrote. There is in no way it is reductionist. You should be embarrassed.

“All transwomen are gangsters”? Or did you mean “all transwomen are violent”? Because no one claimed that any more than they claimed all men are violent. Are you really saying the well-documented threat of male violence is a ‘stereotype’

Pingponghavoc · 19/08/2026 08:04

We're going round in circles, but why dont TW feel safe in male only spaces again?

This has already been thoroughly agonisingly covered up thread. So if you couldn't understand it then, you won't now.

I can explain it to you but I can't help you understand it.

No one has ever said trans women are anything other than men. They’re men. And have the same traits as men. Which is why they never belong anywhere near women’s single sex spaces.

Do you understand that?

Whats your problem with that?

Sigh. You said

”And yet she reduced this story of witch hunting a black academic to his 'fabulism'.”

Except she didn’t. She replied to someone who seems to have been saying that the reason Arday was overwhelmed because of all the lies he told. A sort of “tough”. (I’m paraphrasing). By refuting that, instead suggesting that JA’s ‘fabulism’ was an indication that he was already vulnerable. It’s a long tweet, filled with compassion for Arday, which ironically I suppose, you’ve attempted to reduce to something quite different.

Problem is with your complete ignorance of this issue (let alone the ability to understand it) is there are different violations of plagiarism between the two cases (one being significantly worse) AND even if there wasn'y why did we hear nothing about the white guy where there was a huuuge media witch hunt for the black guy?

But I'm lovin' JKR exposing her true colours on this one just quietly. Usually she's more careful to hide it. Its another example of her penchant for harmful stereotyping & by extension far right alignment.

I wouldn't be surprised if she didn’t give two shits about trans people & their 'destruction of women's rights'. They, as always are just a means to a far right bigoted end.

He said he ran marathons with a broken leg. Clearly talking absolute bollocks. He said he had all sorts of medical conditions when he was younger that were also clearly bollocks. Do you really need it pointing out to you that he was a wild, shit talking fantasist? That’s why he was newsworthy. He lied elaborately in almost every aspect of his life and yet so many academic institutions gave him a free pass because of his DEI status. The scandal is the bind eye turned to the clear and obvious lies, not that he told the lies in the first place.

Um, doesn't that 'logic' kinda go against the alleged trans stereotyping of 'woman' behaviour if men are different psychologically than women?

Make up your mind.

Context matters. You need to read the preceding posts to understand the context which focus' on his alleged lies rather than why he came under the spot light to start with.

I’ll try this slowly for you. Men as a class commit the overwhelming majority of violence against women. This isn’t a small difference in numbers, it’s overwhelming. In fact they commit the overwhelming majority of all violent and sexual crime. This isn’t a stereotype. This is worldwide, long-term reliable data. We can’t remove the risk that male people pose in every situation. We, in society, balance mitigation of risk with what is possible and desirable. In the case of male violence against women we can mitigate risk by excluding all male people from some spaces and places. If you want to keep arguing ‘but not all men’, by all means continue to do so, but at least be honest about that argument.

You seem to be completely ignorant of the timeline of events. Most of Arday's claims about his personal life came up after he was appointed at Cambridge & after he was accused of plagiarism.

So the point you are spectacularly missing is this only came under the spotlight because people accused him falsely of plagiarism AND did so because he was black.

You don't seem to understand what the words 'double standards' mean or don't want to acknowledge that & are using his alleged lies to divert from it.

Um, doesn't that 'logic' kinda go against the alleged trans stereotyping of 'woman' behaviour if men are different psychologically than women?

Make up your mind.

It is not about stereotypes of male and female psychology.

It is about the statistics about male behaviour.

You seem to be muddling two different things.

Female people are at statistically high risk from a proportion of male people whether they identify as men or not.

If a male person thinks he is somehow psychologically female, it does not change his sex. It does not change his ability to overpower a woman if he wants to, and it doesn’t make women read him as female. It doesn’t give him any life experience in common with female people.

Sex is about bodies, disparity in strength and physical and sexual vulnerability. This is why we have single sex spaces in some places. Nothing to do with personality or psychological traits.

WILLIAM O REILLEY.

Do you actually read the posts that are responding to you?

AGAIN, until William O Reilley did EVERYTHING ARDAY DID, then it's a null and void comparison.

I already replied to your O Reilley attempt, don't you READ any replies to you? I repeat it yet again, since you did not read it the first time:
"Again, when those white academics the long massive list of everything Arday did, I am sure they will. There has never been one single academic white or black, that has the sociopathic list of lies and cons that Arday has."

And females as a class overwhelmingly engage in sex typical behaviours. This isn’t a small difference in numbers, it’s overwhelming.

See where this is going Einstein? Now see if you can join the dots after zillionth time.

So you don't understand the difference between at sex class and a persons interaction with a group of stereotypes. Perhpas go sort that out.

At its heart, it's very simple. Women's single sex spaces exist for women's safety and dignity. Why on earth would we make an exception for one group of men? What's the justification for that?
