Why do some people view JK Rowling as transphobic?

Where do people get the idea that JK Rowling is transphobic from? Where? I’m having this argument with an acquaintance who tells me she’s the most transphobic person on earth but cannot point to one single thing that she’s done or said that’s transphobic. Is this the widest held totally bullshit view ever?

tbh, i find it entertaining and it helps me organize my thoughts on it by responding to his insanity. it is hard to tell if he is a troll or legit, as the ideology itself is like a troll. like the line between trolling about it, and saying it for real is non-existent, like "transwomen are women" should be trolling, but, here we are... with legit organizations posting that chant on their social media...

Lammy was involved in the parliamentary GRA debates on behalf of the government. He'd have been part of the debates around the EqA, too.

He knows surgery and hormones arent an essential part of GRA or PC of GR, so even if he believed men could aquire a cervix somehow, he knew it wasnt relevant.

It's very weird. My post this morning, I admit that I got tired of the Tirelessly Explaining Reality thing abd my post started with a paragraph that could have been perceived as a personal attack. If I have time I will trim it down to just the factual refutation of the misinformation and bollocks in the post I was replying to. But there was no reason at all for the deletion of my other post, it was merely a slightly sarcastic explanation of why it's perceived as "transphobic" to use the phrase "biological women", and could only be seen as breaking talk guidelines if it was misunderstood by someone who didn't read it properly. I think MNHQ must either have a TrueGenderBeliever policing FWR threads which doesn't seem like a great idea, or perhaps is deleting posts that use certain keywords even if they are being used sarcastically.

I think it's usually that someone has made a complaint to them. If you feel it's been unreasonably deleted you can always ask them for clarification as to why it was deleted.

I imagine this is an “occupational hazard” on this site!

I just can't imagine being the kind of person who has the money and high public profile JKR has, and using it to spread hate, division and misinformation the way she does.

It's bad enough that she funds people who are actively persecuting transgender people and doing so much damage to transgender, Non-binary, and intersex people, but now she's actively encouraging people to sue an NHS trust by funding them, all because that trust is trying to be supportive to their workers and to keep their bathrooms accessible to all.

Those people who are idolizing her for this, don't seem to understand the possible far reaching and very damaging to all, consequences of her promised actions.
She doesn't have to worry about it, because she's so financially secure that she doesn't have to rely on the NHS. However, the majority of the UK public do, and the NHS is struggling as it is. Who would ultimately pay for any court cases or compensation that it could result in? The public. The public would pay in taxes, and far worse than that, pay in the decline of a public system that's already struggling, and one that's already fighting against privatization. We only have to look at the American system to see how badly that would impact on the average person.

Nobody should have the kind of money and power she has, with the ability to abuse it the way she's doing, and those who support her are too blind to see the damage she's doing not just to the transgender and intersex communities, but to all women and to men as well.

It's fairly easy for the NHS not to be sued - they just need to follow the law on single sex spaces.

As for the nhs, they just need to follow the law. Why on earth would you want female doctors and nurses rights to single sex changing rooms taken away from them?

True, but the point is they shouldn't have to. They are also in an impossible position of having to - legally and ethically - provide for all people and, as much as it pains certain classes of 'feminist' to accept, trans-women are actually people as well.
