JKR, in the wake of health authorities failing to implement the single sex space laws, has offered to fund the legal case of any female nurse or patient who wants to sue their health authority.

I love that woman!

As I said on another thread. The ruling said that woman, man, female and male refers to biological sex in the EA what do you think it says.

It's is illegal not to comply with the Equality Act, the guidance explains how to comply with the EA

CassOle · 13/08/2026 14:55

Posters like GladLemonCritic really don't do their cause any favours by implying that men with trans identities are not law-abiding and that they will ignore the EA2010 and the guidance.

Bumping important thread

This seems like a good reminder for when posters make claims about anti-‘rights’.

https://x.com/thearbourist/status/2034625446784958710?s=46

“When one group’s ‘rights’ require another group to surrender privacy, fairness, or conscience, the conflict is no longer about equality. It is about power.”

”The smartest move activists made was rhetorical: they stopped arguing for contested demands and started calling them “rights.” After that, dissent could be recoded as cruelty, and ordinary objections could be treated as moral failure.”

Female spaces were not built out of bigotry. They were built because sex differences are real, and privacy, safety, and fairness matter. Calling those boundaries hateful does not refute them. It just bullies people into silence.

A demand for equality says: leave me free. A demand for compliance says: you must affirm, yield, and rearrange your world around me. Too much of this debate is presented as the first when it is plainly the second.

This is part of a longer read.

Absolutely.

What's going on here?

The whole time after the FWS the key point for delaying implementation was "waiting for the new guidance" - and now when it is out we hear "it is only a guidance"?

So law wasn't enough, court claryifying the law wasn't enough and now goverment's implementation guide (saying the same thing) isn't enough either?

It seems to be the latest TRA line, judging from a few Facebook threads. I saw Sue Pascoe and RMW both pushing this.

They're panicking. The wailing and hyperbole has had limited impact (except on those politicians with limited critical thinking skills) so they're grasping at straws with the usual mangling of language.

Women and girls are finally taking back our single sex spaces / sport etc back.

BridgetYourFortyDaysAreUp · 15/08/2026 19:14

bumping. The 2010 Brigade are on the move again.

GriseldaandMike · 15/08/2026 19:57

Why does Dolly Parton insist on pouring her millions into child literacy when she lives in a country without free at the point of use health care?

Why does JKR insist on pouring her wealth into helping sexually abused women, orphans and those suffering from a debilitating disease?

Why don't these bloody women shut up and use their wealth to pay for lanyards and flags and baby blue/pink paint schemes like any right thinking person would?

Even better they could piss it all up the wall on vanity space projects like what the men do.

No one (not even Bezos) is rich enough to solve every single ill in the world so they are free to choose with areas interest them or where they feel they can make a difference or where they see a need around them.

Criticising the only person to un-billionaire themself through charitable giving isn't the flex some seem to think it is.

You approve of taking money from an institution which can't pay for sexually abused kids to have psychiatric counselling?

Which practices corridor care because there's no cash to pay for extra staff?

Which can't implement this guidance because it's already at breaking point regarding number of staffed beds? Right before the winter bugs hit?

Jesus. Wards are heavily supervised and all have male staff. The moment you can leave your bed and walk they start the process of discharging you. And Intensive Care has so few beds it cannot possibly follow this - one more time - guidance.

A billionaire using her cash like this - instead of, say, helping CAMHS save those raped kids - is obscene.

But I'm guessing you approve of this same cash-strapped organisation finding the money to fund cosmetic surgery and hormones for those who wish to cosplay as the opposite sex? And who pay for egg retrieval for women who want to take hormones which render them infertile because they know that at some point in the future, they'll be comfortable enough with being women to want to give birth? You're happy for the NHS to pay for the amputation of perfectly healthy body parts upon demand, while patients can't access cancer or rheumatoid arthritis drugs because of the 'cost'?

And I am also absolutely confident that if a trans person felt they had been treated with the slightest whiff of indignity or disrespect by the NHS, and someone offered to fund a legal fight, you'd be in full support.

I'm just not convinced that putting your money into the considerable uncertainties of litigation is ever really going to make a difference. Whereas Rowling is known for having made a real difference to literacy levels and it would be great if she pursued something like that.

Women are always being told our rights have to wait until the whole world is fixed. We recognise that BS argument and we're not buying it.

Tell that to FWS and the Darlington nurses.

If only there was a way to avoid being sued for not following the law 🤔

What about these pursuits by JKR

Volant Charitable Trust: Set up in 2000 to fund projects that alleviate social deprivation, with a strong focus on women, children, and young people at risk.
Lumos: Co-founded by Rowling in 2005 (originally as the Children's High Level Group) to end the systematic institutionalisation of children globally and move them into safe, caring environments.
Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic: Founded at the University of Edinburgh with multi-million-pound donations in memory of her mother to research and treat Multiple Sclerosis.
Beira's Place: Co-founded and funded in 2022 as an Edinburgh-based sexual violence support service exclusively for women.

All these deletions? Assuming it's a previously banned poster who is a right pain in the neck, and keeps trying to reinvent himself to get back on.

And it looks like all his posts were admirably refuted anyway.

Operation let them speak strikes again.

I particularly like the other post where the NHS being ideologically captured and not wanting to follow the law, will result in the death of children, but it's all J. K. Rowling's fault 😄

As someone pointed out up thread, are there any other world famous billionaires doing as much good as J. K. Rowling? Really sticking her head above the parapet on behalf of women everywhere.

The interesting, and depressing, part is how much of unique position she is in, and how much these men absolutely fucking loathe her for it.

From the visceral hatred, to the risibly pompous well she should be doing something else with her money that I want her to do.

Nah. She's doing what she wants, it's fucking brilliant, I love her for it, and it's all for women.

Fortunately I suspect that convincing you is not part of their plan😉
There is considerable evidence that litigation has already worked substantially and made the government and a number of organisations actually observe the law that was already there...

And a lot of this future litigation will be slam dunk certain - and often the money will be repaid through costs etc.

After all you can't get more black and white than a man is a man and a woman is a woman?!

And it is right to take these organisations to court - they know the law, they are choosing deliberately to ignore it on the arrogant assumption that their emotional belief is somehow above and beyond the law... Is it right that these organisations should have costs against them - in one sense no, but if we allow people without much sense to run them then that is what happens - and the fault there is in the choice of those making the decisions, and in the appointments being made.

What I would love to see is the individual chief executives / directors / trustees etc. being held legally liable for the decisions they have made (and I suspect there is a potential route there...) It would only need one NHS chief executive to be billed a few hundred thousand for their personal decisions to make all the other start to comply with the law. The problem we have is too many people with authority but no accountability...

But they don't protect money for the NHS.

It's on it's knees after Covid. Staff are exhausted. The massive budget reduction during Tory rule hasn't ever been made up, and Brexit means the country's finances aren't recovering.

NHS services are still being cut.

There isn't money to treat everyone. Preventive services have disappeared. Neurology departments reject most referrals, scan dates take months, and there's still no central computer database. Friend has described to me how difficult it is to keep track of diabetes patients when they're still using paper records in hospital.

Massively increasing insurance premiums and forcing extra costs on a strapped service will kill people.

That's not hyperbole. Relative of mine died recently because his cancer spread during the five months he had to wait for surgery.

JKR going to any lengths to make us forget how she hired Johnny Depp isn't heroic.

But they don't protect money for the NHS.

I am glad you agree. It is absolutely appalling how these NHS Managers are failing in their duty to spend taxpayers money wisely. Instead of spending every penny they can to help the sick people who desperately need care, they are risking wasting scarce funds on court cases.
If they had any sense of public duty and morality, they would obey the law.
