Well they've been reported to the council for child safeguarding concern but something tells me that they wont do anything to protect those poor babies

Good to see that someone in Scotland is concerned enough about safeguarding babies from harm to make a referral.
That puts it squarely on the shoulders of social services to prevent the disruption of a mother breastfeeding her baby and to investigate the men insisting on using babies to satisfy their needs.

Or of course to openly sanction child abuse 🙄

Well done Maggie. Thank you for speaking out so clearly.

When you have government funded organisations supporting abuse like this yes, its hard to even say out loud. Always also worth mentioning LGBTYS are still a favourite of the Scotgov, despite all of the abuse scandals relating to men attached to the organisation.

The thing is charities shouldn't be Government funded. How often have we heard charities claim we do not get any tax payer funding so that is why we need you to donate? The councils and Governments across the UK fail to carry out even their statutory duties in the barest way, so they should not be looking to fund unnecessary friperies and perversions surely to goodness?

downhillfromhier · 03/08/2026 11:21

I also want someone to hold the devolved administrations to account every time they waste taxpayer funds on items which are beyond their powers such as foreign aid. It is for UK to do foreign aid not Scottish devolved Administration.

Wasn't an exceptionally large sum in foreign aid given to Gaza very shortly before the Scottish First Minister's parents in law, who were visiting Gaza and got trapped there, were finally able to leave Gaza and return to Scotland? From memory I think it was £500,000.

I think it was "only" £250000 and if i remember correctly it came from ring fenced money that was supposed to go towards children's aid charities in other countries (not gaza)

Redintoothandclaw · 04/08/2026 01:16

I've just checked and the Independent says it was £500,000. I remember that at the time it was much higher than had been expected, and that Humza Yousaf's parents in law were able to leave Gaza very shortly afterwards.

Scottish Government pledges £500,000 to Gaza relief

Scotland’s international development minister reiterated calls for a humanitarian corridor in Gaza to allow aid to reach those in need.

AngleofRepose · 04/08/2026 09:44

And now we're talking about Gaza.

@downhillfromhier I do agree that if the Government is going to give money to charities, the Government might as well take over the function in its entirety. I've never been comfortable with "charities" being needed to cover functions that government should be doing, anyway (such as protecting or feeding children).

However, let's please not turn this thread into a Gaza thread. The issue is LARPing men using children for their own purposes.

Thanks @Hoardasurass for the update!

If it's all safe and beneficial for the baby, why aren't all men being encouraged to share some of the breastfeeding load?

💯 this. If it’s so safe and a perfectly normal practice then why the hell are male parents (especially those who take advantage of shared parental leave) not encouraged to also share the burden of ‘chest’ feeding. Heck why stop at the parent….why not encourage all the Grandad’s to take o some of the load?

Exactly And their conversion therapy helpline has 4 phone calls in 3+ months

All those who want to ban it should first be made to prove such a thing exists.

Edited to add - all sob stories have to come from this country, any appalling practices in other counties are not applicable to us.

WrongKindOfFeminist · 09/08/2026 17:01

Four phone calls. How many wrong numbers?

Seymour5 · 09/08/2026 17:26

Unbelievable. I hope social services put a stop to what can only be described as perversion. Wear a dress, change your name, pretend you look like a woman, but don't abuse babies.

Treaclewell · 09/08/2026 19:43

I predict that in 18 or so years there will be a rash of legal cases from any survivors, citing harms due to the failings of this stuff.

Cismyfatarse · 27/07/2026 20:34

It's a charity supporting gay, asexual, intersex and trans parents, whatever kind of milk they use to feed their babies. A safe space where they can chat about their experiences as parents.

Trans men can struggle with chestfeeding, and it's great that they have this support. They can also get a lot of hostility feeding their babies in public, so a safe space is vital.

Seriously who wouldn't support that.

...okay people who want to claim it's all about promoting trans women feeding their babies.

But it's not. It's a support group who welcomes everyone LGBTQIA+

That would include the very few trans women who feed their babies, yeah. If they turned up. It's not a pressure group.

Please, Mumsnetters, stop falling for this. You complain when trans guys have top surgery, howl when they're supported to chestfeed. Maybe just confront your own transphobia and move on?

It. Is. A. Support. Group. For. All. LGBTQIA+. People.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 09/08/2026 20:21

Incidentally, there's no evidence any chestfeeding trans women at all have yet attended this support group for LGBTQIA+ people.

It's literally just a parent group. If a trans woman turned up with her baby she'd be...supported and offered a cup of tea!! The horror!

Maybe stop sexualising breastfeeding/chestfeeding and quit falling for homophobic, transphobic, acephobic propaganda?

If a transwoman showed up wanting to chestfeed a baby I truly hope they'd be arrested.

The poster is talking about safeguarding babies from men with a fetish - along with protecting the mother / baby breastfeeding relationship.

You might find it useful to do a bit of learning about safeguarding children - there's a lot of expertise on here from both other parents and experienced professionals. Some of your rather ranty posts suggest you may have misunderstood some of the basic principles of safeguarding vulnerable children from adults with an agenda.

And nobody should ever be defending men wanting to breastfeed babies.

Lol. Men can't breastfeed. And you might want to have a word with your cohort members and suggest they stop plastering their lactation fetish from one end of the Internet to the other.

It's not like they make a secret of it.
