First time ladies pond, Hampstead

Went for the first time to the ladies pond in hampstead this week and had a blast. Definitely want to go back. I got naked in the open showers like others as i wanted to get the algae off of me. I’m aware of their current regulations but feel a bit alarmed by this.

Is it really the case that a man who identifies as a woman could come in at any point and start showering naked with his penis out and the staff would consider this to be fine? I’m a survivor of sexual abuse and this feels really alarming to me and puts me on edge about going. Are the other women who get naked there fine with this?

i also heard that women who identify as men are not allowed to swim topless in the men’s pond so it feels like double standards?

i feel really sad about it because it feels like it would be a lovely space to be nude and relax and feel free and safe around other women but now i just feel on edge that there could be a man around.

I despise opportunistic creepy men as much as the next women

Apparently not.

They are obviously aware that it could happen as they are planning to spend money on creating new facilities. Does seem a bit odd if it’s a non issue that they would be prepared to find £1 million to do it.

I hadn't heard about that. Sounds more promising. I was one of the original respondents a few years ago on COLC biased survey. Sure my reply was thrown out as I had dared to type a few (actually many) words. I must try to catch up more with the various law cases. A few months behind. Is Lord now actually starting to comply with the law?

I think she meant keyboard warriors but forgot the term.

I guess its the feminised version of the insult, isn't it.

Nope i did not, touchtyping does project a certain boomer middle class energy to people my age 🥰

And there's the ageism.

WrongKindOfFeminist · 22/07/2026 22:55

Sexism and ageism are super progressive ways to try to insult people.

But if that's all you've got...

BirdLandedonmyHead · 22/07/2026 23:00

Ahh the good old paradox

Apparently it will be devestating to trans women to stop them using a service, or joining a club etc...
But apparently barely any use those services so how can they be causing distress to others.

Exactly, so why are you trying to insult people?

”arnt” ?

And you are mocking people who can “touch type.”
Do you even know what touch typing means?
Why is this particular skill something to be mocked? Because you haven’t got the attention span and focus to learn to do it?

So what do you mean by "trans girl"? A boy who identifies as a girl, so a trans identified boy. Or a male who identifies as a woman, but you and/or they are further identifying them as "a girl", so a trans identifed man. Clarification needed. Thanks.

And if the ‘trans girl’ is a convicted rapist should they still be allowed to use this space?

I'm not a Boomer or middle class and I can touch type - 120wpm at my peak. Fastest fingers in the west 😂
It's a skill. Unlike being able to tell what sex someone is which everyone can do even if they pretend they can't.

There are plenty of “opportunistic creepy men” who call themselves “trans girls”. Stop being so gullible.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/07/2026 23:48

Calling a group of men “girls” is just grim. What do you imagine you sound like.

Goodness me, does it? What age is that exactly?

Most importantly, how do you type? What's your alternative to touch-typing? Do you have to keep your gaze fixed on the keyboard instead of the screen, or do you flick back and forth between screen and keyboard?

He could be asked to leave. The law supports it fully now.

He couldn’t be asked to leave if he says he identifies as a woman. The law allows this but Hampstead ponds do not.

Indeed.I couldn't understand why this a trans girl wants to be comfortable as a red herring.

Yes, I wasn’t referring to their policy, but the ability service providers have to exclude men from female only spaces. So he “could” be asked to leave, if they were following the law.

Not only “could” be asked to leave but should be asked to leave.
