Thought it might be useful to find points of commonality.

Ever the optimist! 😊

  1. Gender stereotypes can be restrictive and limiting.

@Boiledbeetle I'll be polite to anyone I meet in public, until they give me reason not to be. If I like them I may even on occasions do things that could be classed as being kind, but I'll be fucked if be kind is my starting position.

And there, in a nutshell, is part of the problem. Women 'being kind' do get fucked over.

Even what I now think was a misguided attempt to be polite and courteous in person when it came to pronouns landed us with farcical nonsense - we're still not out from under that heap of ordure.

Here's to your mother and mine, who taught us to assert our rights and not default to subservience, flattery and pacification.

Crikey, I've read all that, and our Flexible Friend never came back with any kind of proof that I'm right and women agree with me and you're wrong because I said so.

Perhaps he's still putting the kids to bed.

Yes, I was just checking as well, no sign of the research @Lexibletheflexible promised yet.

Flex, it would really be handy to have your research to compare with all the comprehensive research someone else provided last night. When you get a chance, could you please post your research? I am working today, but have tomorrow off, so will have time to read through it in the morning.

No rush! Thanks!

100% of women could say that they were happy to share a changing room with a trans woman, and it still wouldn't have any practical application if there is no way to classify what they mean by trans and which men are trans. This is why the SC decided as it did.

The only relevant question is whether women are happy to share a changing room with a man, and whether the women who aren't should be ignored, even if they are in a minority.

'Key Demographic Variations in Responses
Breakdowns by sex, socio-economic background, ethnicity and subject of study highlight significant differences. Female students showed 33% support for biological males in women’s changing rooms compared with 26% among male students. Students from more privileged ABC1 backgrounds expressed 33% approval versus 26% among working-class C2DE respondents.
Ethnic patterns were pronounced. Just 22% of Black students and 24% of Asian students supported biological males accessing women’s facilities, compared with 36% of White students.
Subject differences proved equally striking: Humanities and Social Sciences students split evenly at 43% in favour and 43% against, while those in medicine, STEM, Business and Management recorded decisive majorities against. Creative Arts and Design students showed a smaller but still clear majority opposing access.'

I am also looking forward to reading more research. It is important to read widely and read through everything we can so that we are informed from as wide a base of evidence as possible.

More research, bring it ON!

'Only 31% of respondents believed biological males who identify as women should be permitted to use women’s changing rooms. A clear majority of 55% opposed this, with 14% unsure. Views on the reverse scenario — biological females who identify as men using men’s changing rooms — proved only marginally more permissive.'

'When asked for their views on the changing-room facilities that transwomen and transmen should be expected to use, roughly one-third of students say people should use the changing room assigned to their gender identity while one-half disagree (presumably assuming they should use the facility assigned to their sex at birth or a gender-neutral space). Although we asked about transwomen and transmen separately, the results were similar for these two groups.

In contrast, a 2026 JL Partners poll for Sex Matters found just one-in-five (19%) adults think people ‘should be allowed to use whichever facilities they prefer’. In the same poll, over one-thirdof respondents said people ‘should use the facilities of their sex at birth’ (36%) and another third said ‘they should not use facilities of the opposite sex but there should be an alternative’ (34%).9

These results suggest students may be a little more favourable than the public overall towards those who wish to use the changing facility for their gender rather than the one for their sex at birth – but it is notable that both a majority of students and a majority of the whole adult population pick other options.'

The data:

p6: Transwomen and transmen

The questions were:
Q6. Do you think that biological males who identify as women should be allowed to use women’s changing rooms?

Question 6: the responses were:
Yes: 31% (male 26%) (female 33%) (16-19 - 29%) (20-21 - 32%)
No: 55% (male 63%) (female 50%) (16-19 - 58%) (20-21 - 53%)
Don't know: 14% (male 11%) (female 17%) (16-19 - 13%) (20-21 - 15%)

Q7. Do you think that biological females who identify as men should be allowed to use men’s changing rooms?
Question 7: the responses were:
Yes: 34% (male 31%) (female 36%) (16-19 - 34%) (20-21 - 35%)
No: 52% (male 58%) (female 47%) (16-19 - 53%) (20-21 - 51%)
Don't know: 14% (male 11%) (female 17%) (16-19 - 13%) (20-21 - 14%)

Comment from the report:

When asked for their views on the changing-room facilities that transwomen and transmen should be expected to use, roughly one-third of students say people should use the changing room assigned to their gender identity while one-half disagree (presumably assuming they should use the facility assigned to their sex at birth or a gender-neutral space). Most of the answers from the 18-24 year old age group for the Sex Matters March 2026 research are not far off this - ie: with the 'yes they should be allowed' in the same % range in both data sets.

The question was: A transgender person is someone who says they are the other sex, that is, a person born male who identifies as a woman, or a person born female who identifies as a man. How do you think transgender people should be accommodated in toilets…

They should be allowed to use whichever facilities they prefer (18-24 yr age group responded):
At work - 38%,
In gyms and leisure centres - 30%,
At university - 30%,
In a bar or entertainment venue - 33%,
In public toilets - 30%
In hospital - 30%

They should not use facilities for the opposite sex but there should be an alternative (18-24 yr age group responded):
At work - 38%,
In gyms and leisure centres - 42%,
At university - 35%,
In a bar or entertainment venue - 32%,
In public toilets - 33%
In hospital - 32%

They should use the facilities of their sex at birth (18-24 yr age group responded) :
At work - 18%,
In gyms and leisure centres - 21%,
At university - 23%,
In a bar or entertainment venue - 26%,
In public toilets - 28%
In hospital - 28%

Unsure. (18-24 yr age group responded) :
At work - 12%,
In gyms and leisure centres - 12%,
At university - 12%,
In a bar or entertainment venue - 12%,
In public toilets - 12%
In hospital - 11%

When polling from different collection organisations asking clear questions come up with rather close response rates, it is a pretty good indicator of what the public think.

I like how for both questions, men were more decisive, and more opposed to trans people in opposite-sex spaces. It's funny how TRAs are always complaining about the evil women who hate trans people, when in fact men are even more "hateful".

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/07/2026 15:28

TRAs have used that as a gotcha many times to attempt to gaslight women that they need to be “kind” like other women, as only men object to men in women’s spaces.

Interesting... it is, however, likely that a male activist screaming abuse into the face of a large man would get a fist in his face for his trouble! Much safer to scream abuse at small women. Interesting...

What is clear though is several things.

The majority of female people don’t agree that male people should have access into female single sex provisions.

That there has been a consistent trend between two polls now that show the majority 18-24 year old also don’t agree male people should have access to female single sex provisions.

And that there is a swing towards disagreeing that male people should have access to female single sex provisions as the age group gets younger. ie. Less under 20 year olds believe male people should have access to female single sex provisions than the slightly older age group.

We have seen this direction of trend for a couple of years. I suspect it is because this age group have had experiences that have been negative in this regard and they certainly would be the age group that saw the removal of single sex toilets in some schools. Remember the protests across the country that rolled through the secondary schools and colleges a few years ago about the change that the student were rejecting.

It does throw a different light onto the claims that ‘we are all going to die out and the younger generation are so much more accepting’ into the pile of wrongly assumed shit that ill-informed extreme trans activists say.

WrongKindOfFeminist · 23/07/2026 15:41

I think one certain chunk got the indoctrination at its height. We are now seeing that wave pass through the population. I guess aged around 20 to 35 at the moment? There's a kind of 'gender bump'.
