Seems to have completed his lurch to the far-right - in addition to his vocal support of Trump, I suppose his 'defender of women and girls' schtick doesn't really wash any more...

Blatant classism; well now I know you're fighting for all women!

Face it, if it walks like a misogynist duck and quacks like a misogynist duck, then it probably is Graham Linehan.

Once you notice that horrible people can be right a lot of the time, you find yourself hanging out in strange places. And your own sense of what’s acceptable shifts a bit.

You stop mollifying people, start speaking very plainly, and find yourself tipping over the line at intervals when previously politeness would have made you think twice before expressing some observations. Again, the woman who said, ‘That’s a man!’ and “I’m not a vet but I know a dog when I see one!’, is not going to pause before saying other things which are true in some situations and not in others. I admire her ‘Free your face’ campaign. It doesn’t surprise me that she goes too far with criticising Islam, and probably crosses the line into racism- I don’t pay close attention but I assume that’s the issue..

Oh, she crosses the line!

She's sold her soul to the devil!

Isn't it just? Is it a full moon or just the school/university holidays?

You're right, anyone who disagrees with you must just be a stupid child! No way that a grown woman could recognise an obvious misogynist when they see one

Well you started it.

Literally.

GiddyGiddyGiddy · Today 00:48

I pointed out that a man who claims to be in favour of women's rights (and who many on this very site love to shower with praise) is actually a clear misogynist on the feminism board? Yes, I did. What's your point?

OP posts:
skilpadde · Today 00:51

Nah, your applying your own interpretation and spin on glinner’s tweets, without any evidence.

The first one: he’s pointing out the irony of an Irish exam featuring a question about the patriarchy, given that Ireland is dismantling women’s rights, including introducing self-ID and placing ‘Barbie Kardashian’ in a women’s prison. Is it far right to question a violent sex offender being placed in a prison with a mother and baby unit?

The second one: you’re surprised that a man who was cancelled, and experienced people trying to segregate him from the successful work he produced, comes out against that happening to another man? You don’t understand what he’s driving at, so you assume misogyny?

The third one: London 2012… Isambard Kingdom Brunel built Britain! Royal Mint 2026… diversity built Britain! Lots of people might raise an eye at that coin, yet you assume glinner must be racist.

Again, you're the one on the feminism board mocking the idea that an exam might suggest the patriarchy exists. I'm no fan of genderism, but are you seriously letting one issue inform your entire concept of feminism? I know feminists who are pro-trans, and I have no doubt that they are committed even if I disagree with them on this issue. Or does 'purity politics' only cut one way?

That 50p was minted in 2020 to celebrate the contribution of Britain's ethnic minorities. Why would it raise an eye?

Because apparently two things can't be true at the same time - we should actually never celebrate diversity because Isambard Kingdom Brunel built Britain all on his own! 🙄🙄🙄

Truly, I would love to hear the explanation of why we shouldn't celebrate diversity. Seriously, I'll sit here and read it, please enlighten me.

OP: you're embarrassing yourself.
He's done more to fight misogyny than I expect you have.

Ereshkigalangcleg · Today 01:02

Glinner can be a complete twat at times, but I don’t believe he thinks women should lose the vote. As I said, the op had to explain what the 19th amendment was - because no one outside of the US is going to have a clue. He quite clearly skipped over that bit - it wasn’t the substantive point of the tweet, and I think it’s all a bit of a desperate purity spiral to demand women here condemn him. Criticise him, whatever. Don’t give a fuck. Don’t expect me to get worked up over his tweets.

GiddyGiddyGiddy · Today 01:03

Sorry - what was the point of the tweet then? Celebrating the extrajudicial killing of a woman protesting Trump and ICE? Is that feminist??

OP posts:
Ereshkigalangcleg · Today 01:07

I was agreeing with the poster saying that it’s a reach that he wants to remove women’s suffrage. Not debating anything else he’s said, he has said some very silly things before. Not engaging further because I literally CBA. It’s not interesting, it’s predictable.

GiddyGiddyGiddy · Today 01:09

I'm embarrassing myself? Do I need to find more examples of his misogyny? Claiming his ex-wife's show was shit once he was no longer involved in writing it? Leading a witch-hunt against Imane Khelif despite her not being trans? Vocally, enthusiastically supporting 'grab-them-by-the-pussy' Trump? I'm sick of him being held up as any sort of defender of women's rights despite clearly having no interest in women's rights outside of his own ego.

Exactly how much leeway are you happy to give him just because you agree with him on one subject?

OP posts:
GiddyGiddyGiddy · Today 01:11

And, quite frankly, are you not embarrassed to be defending him by tying yourself in knots to deny the obvious fact that he's a misogynist?

OP posts:
Ereshkigalangcleg · Today 01:12

Imane Khelif is a male with a male DSD. He shouldn’t have been in a boxing ring with women. It’s shameful that he was.

Sorry, but that's empirically not true. Look it up literally anywhere. She is not trans.

Celebrating diversity is great… we should absolutely do that! Diversity is a marked element of what 21st century Britain is, compared with a century ago, and the country is richer for it.

But “diversity built Britain” is a rather odd statement for a country that’s centuries old, no?

Nobody is claiming Khelif is trans, least of all the person you’re quoting. Khelif has a DSD that affects only males, and thus does not belong in any women’s sport.

The coin doesn't even mention race - but even if it did... Brunel's structures were built by slaves brought in through Bristol. So yes, black people literally did build much of Britain.

Also... Do you think one coin should encompass a history over a thousand years? Or do you think that maybe, maybe, it'd be nice to acknowledge that, over the last century, the country has become more diverse? Again, I'm really interested to know what we're celebrating by not acknowledging this...

No one is saying he's trans, he's a man with a dsd. Who was raised female, possibly, but isn't.

GiddyGiddyGiddy · Today 01:26

Again, that's just not true. You're just blatantly wrong. Imane Khelif was born female. Find me literally any source that says she was born male.
