As previous posters have stated, we have this kind of sectarian behaviour every year in N Ireland - flags of countries and pictures of politicians are burned on bonfires because the bonfire attendees hate them so much.

It's so strange seeing the growth of sectarian politics in GB when, for decades, things like this mostly only happened in NI as a result of our fractured/divided society, and the majority view in GB was to view us as a bizarre, regressive outlier within the UK/Ireland.

I wouldn't wish this type of politics on any country because it never achieves anything positive and it always ends up with people being killed for their political beliefs or their background. It leads to us not seeing other people as human.

Can't compare that scenario really - they were disciplined by their employers, and mostly for being caught / bringing the service into disrepute. The Forces also need to be seen to be politically neutral.

Or were they just thinking 'Oh, I'd really love to be doing that as well but it might prove a little awkward later'?

Much of the problem starts from once upon a time being trans was very rare, to be trans you had to be pretty committed as you were pretty much standing alone and they tended to go the whole hog, full surgery to be as close to a woman as possible. Modern trans seems to range from traditional trans to men who say they're TW but really make very little effort to actually look like they've transitioned, they're the group who seem to feel most aggrieved when not accepted and the loudest at every protest.

And a lot of people are thinking in terms of the first group (it’s such an effort and an ordeal, they wouldn’t do it if they weren’t sincere about feeling like a woman, being kind is virtuous and costs nothing)
