Neither the Catholic Church or the Church of England, as I understand, encourage their followers to view the Bible or the actions of their prophet as totally and completely infallible, and immune from criticism.
This is not reliably true of Islam - I know, because I grew up Muslim. I also came to this country as a very young child fleeing persecution, so I know all about Islamophobia too (Perhaps it is also why I feel so strongly about your country which my family found to be a safe haven with a uniquely generous and tolerant culture that I will forever be grateful for). Dismissing the acknowledgment these issues within Islam as Islamophobia is so foolish. It also does huge disservice to the Muslim girls and women who suffer under Islam - perhaps it is more politically “correct” to care about us than it is white working class girls?
Besides, the link between the christian institutions and their roles in child abuse is widely acknowledged and spoken about. As it should be!
RE your other comment, if you won’t read this report then what other sources do you suggest we look at for the experiences of these victims? Which ones have you read? Which of the victims who speaks out publicly do you follow or support? Genuine question.
