New thread.

No pushing at the back, please, we have plenty of scones and kilts for everyone.

I’m sure that if you wanted an impressive timepiece rather than a drink, the gerbils would discern this and source one for you. Dragons and magpies will generally prefer gold to booze, and for everyone’s sakes, best keep proof spirits away from the former.

I've just been given an advert for "absorbent tampons". I'd rather hope they were absorbent! What use would the alternative be?

aren't they just items of no discernible purpose which you can offer to strangers so you can bond with them in the ladies loos?

You might be on to something with this. Maybe that's it 🤔

Phew. I thought the mascot under the costume was going to be a Trojan anaconda.

JanesLittleGirl · 18/06/2026 20:51

I have just returned from the anaconda thread. And there are people who suggest that the Bluestocking isn't rooted in reality?

EmpressaurusKitty · 18/06/2026 20:57

WE ARE WHO WE SAY WE ARE. Obviously!

And I’ve just finished adding the top row of cats to The Blanket 😻

Stupendous blanket! So beautiful.

I hope Kitty loves it. You did make it for her, didn’t you?

RumNotRun · 18/06/2026 21:22

@EmpressaurusKitty that is fantastic! Lex says he'll have three please 🙂

EmpressaurusKitty · 18/06/2026 21:25

Kitty loves it very much. Next job is a smaller version which will be just right for her favourite window seat in the bedroom - I think I’m going to make that one a stashbuster & have multi coloured cats 😀

That’s a very fine piece of work, @EmpressaurusKitty. What great skills you have.

Well done.😀

Well, indeed.
There has been a lot of madness on MN for the past day or so.

EdithStourton · 18/06/2026 22:08

Meanwhile Gusto patrolled the stadium perimeter. Several times she dramatically escorted perfectly innocent spectators away from entirely ordinary locations. This made her feel useful.
I think Gusto might be related to Gillian. Who has, mercifully, been very quiet during the football excitement.

I think you may have jinxed it.

Beautiful blanket, Kitty, really impressive. I am in awe. And when I see those rows of pussycats, I am in awwwwwww!Smile

On the subject of tampons: does anybody remember an old TV ad where a busybody on the bus - played I think by Maureen Lipman - is looking through through a woman's shopping bag and commenting that Tesco has the [unseen] items cheaper.
At one point she says 'Oooh I'm surprised you still need those' and every woman knew exactly what the unseen item was😁

Chickadeeinme · 19/06/2026 02:57

Lovely blanket and pussycats Kitty - where did you find the pattern?

Ravelry, @Chickadeeinme!

The actual pattern is more elaborate but I pulled out the bits I wanted. (And mixed up the cats).

That blanket is so beautiful.

Rainy rainy rain here, and inexplicably active cats. They really can't be hungry.

Thank you 😀.

Hot sunshine here in London & we’re both out on the balcony, me having my post-gym snack & Kitty basking.

PastaAllaNorma · 19/06/2026 08:16

Superb blanket, Kitty!

I was out early this morning to pick elderflowers for this year's cordial. Home and finished by 7am, which is most unlike me.

Next door's cat came over for a chat, but as I failed to have any fish to give him, the chat was very short. Last night I had haddock and he was very vocal about the importance of sharing.

AngleofRepose · 19/06/2026 08:34

Morning! What a beautiful blanket, Kitty - your alter-ego Kitty is so spoiled (as she should be)! Cloudy and muggy here, but that won't last long. Forecast to be sunny and muggy all week from Sunday. Not looking forward to that, but at least I can get some weeding done. Just waiting for the lavender to bloom now - I have it all around the patio and down the brick path and it's just glorious for as long as it lasts! Another viewing booked for Tuesday. I've given up on the other house, after a second viewing. Too much work.

loving the Gerbil World Cup!
