A nursery hired a man called Aleena Starshine (🙄) and 4 days into his employment he offered a child a kiss from him as a reward for winning a game. He was suspended for this and other safeguarding concerns, and then tried to claim gender discrimination. Thankfully, he lost.

Eeeeuww

But "the children had laughed and enjoyed it". So that's okay then...

CornishDaughteroftheDawn · 10/06/2026 13:37

The only surprise here was that he was actually suspended.

Good for the employer and the tribunal.

Yes, it is really good to see that safeguarding concerns were taken seriously, rather than being dismissed as bigotry.

"The first complaint concerned an activity described as a “safari game” during which Ms Starshine reportedly offered an 11-year-old child “a free kiss from me” or a “big kiss” as a prize.
The second parental complaint related to a child handover issue at a school across from the crèche.
It was alleged that Ms Starshine released a child to an adult without checking the identity of the person collecting them."

Anyone with the competence to be a childcare worker would know that these actions per se are dangerous and unacceptable. Aleena Starshine (did they play one of those 'find your stripper name' games to get that name?) brought gender identity into it by spuriously claiming discrimination on those grounds.

Eww. That vile and disgusting human deserves a lot more than a suspension.

MaturingCheeseball · 10/06/2026 13:53

Who the hell hired them?

Described as "she" throughout again I see.
It's not fucking good enough.

Who the hell hired them?

Somebody who immediately wished they hadn't!
Two separate safeguarding-related complaints within four days.

So the system worked...

It's Ireland though, I think it's the republic, so he could be legally female there.

Valhalla17 · 10/06/2026 13:59

"Aleena Starshine" has me in stitches...these men are absolutely bonkers

lornad00m · 10/06/2026 13:59

I'm curious to know why any childcare provider would employ 'Aleena Starshine' in the first place. And why he isn't being investigated by the Police.

Oh wait, it's the Republic of Ireland. All becomes clear. 🙄

Whosthetabbynow · 10/06/2026 14:00

If I’d arrived with my child to be met by him we’d be straight back in the car

ForSnappySwan · 10/06/2026 14:01

Arrest whoever gave him the job

He needs eyes kept on him

In case there's any doubt at all that this man is a fetishist and creep, his FB is public. His likes include 'girldick memes', he has a review for 'soft kitten sub girl', and posts about 'terfs'.

If anyone does not understand why this man should not have been employed to work with children, I don't know what to say.

Not really. This man should never have been hired in the first place.

That job was nothing more than validation for him. Poor kids.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 10/06/2026 14:25

"The employer stated that it was particularly alarmed by Ms Starshine’s total lack of insight and inability to appreciate why the comment or unverified child handover created inherent safeguarding risks."

The employer is not the only one, the man should never be allowed near children again. All the laws we have (although maybe not in Ireland) to protect children were created because of men like this in the first place.

TheKeatingFive · 10/06/2026 14:30

Who would hire this man in this role? The mind boggles.
