the EHRC ‘insisting’ on single-sex toilets excluding trans people.
Well, only if they try to use the one for the wrong sex.
There are also some bingo points including trans people being excluded from public life, and women who don’t look feminine being harassed in the Ladies.

‘Lavatory deserts’ mean we are all likely to be caught short

Lack of proper funding for public bathrooms is putting real stress on all of us - which no one needs when they are desperate for the loo

The handmaidens at the Guardian out in force 🙄

I have so much respect for the women who took a stand on this and left.

LassoOfTruth · 07/06/2026 09:43

It’s so lazy - lazy virtue-signalling writing from a London bubble. I despair of these so-called journalists it’s just embarrassing now.

The Observer isn't part of Guardian Media Group any more - they flogged it to Tortoise last year. I had vaguely thought Tortoise were less bad on this, but maybe not.

I thought Eva was a Guardian journo?

Way to miss the point of anti trans loo etiquette distracting from real issues like declining public resources but then the right's survival relies on scapegoats to avoid accountability so here we are.

Are you saying that the EHRC and the Supreme Court went to all the trouble of confirming that single sex services mean single biological sex (not gender presentation) as part of a right wing plot to distract us all from defunded public services?

Historically the Observer have actually been better on this issue than The Guardian but clearly not this columnist.

Established protections for women and girls is "a real issue".

It's certainly a new take nutmeg7, barrel and scraping come to mind.

Also amused by what is the no doubt the latest buzz phrase anti trans loo etiquette.

The lengths, twists and turns TRAs and their allies will go to to force unconsenting women and girls to share single sex spaces with men and boys never ceases to amaze.

The Observer is nothing to do with the Guardian any more.

It probably retains a large cross-over audiience, though. The Guardian, for one, has become ever more dependent on its american audience in recent years.
I'm so sick of Americans TBH - with their political and social hegemony and belief that the whole world dances to their tune.

It has to be "bathrooms " otherwise all my compatriots won't understand the complexities of those mean, nasty British women not letting tran-identified people men "pee.". She's writing for the online Omicause American audience as much as to virtue signal to her UK cronies.

Sorry, it must be tough for you who are American to have to be associated with either MAGA loons or else swivel eyed, screaming progressives ( Barking and making other dog noises seems to be the latest craze when demonstrating against feminists speakers these days).

Yes, I’m surprised by this. She’s not that great a journalist (even putting aside this fuckwittery); surely they can’t be scared of losing her if they told her not to write this kind of thing any more?

No, her background is liberal, fairly affluent suburban London. Although she spent years slumming it and writing in her column about living in a pokey flat above a chicken shop on a gritty main road, the urban struggle etc etc.
As soon as she got to the having-kids phase, though, she hightailed it (clearly actually had the means to) back to outer London and lovely houses on quiet streets with big gardens.
She’s a fraud.

Barking and making other dog noises really that's the new thing is it, to show how mature and intelligent their World View is no doubt

If they were true to their characters, they really would be honking and clapping like seals. 😂

Keeptoiletssafe · 07/06/2026 11:20

I wrote a big response to this but the page got refreshed and deleted.

In short, Eva needs to do some research. All she needs to do is google toilet closures and found out the reasons councils have given. It will be antisocial behaviour and cost associated with trying to supply a service they have no statutory duty to supply in a time councils are cash strapped.

If she spent £15k on each toilet each year but it was used for sex, drugs, and vandalism, what would she do?

Its nothing to do with the EHRC.

Take a look at the clip Julie Bindel posted recently. I'm not sure if it was in Canada or the U.S tbh.....but the same madness. The mental health criisis in young people is very evident in their behaviour.
