Is there less Rainbows Pride marketing shizzle this year?

Fewer? Confused

Just logged on to Sainsbury's and they're a smidge colourful, but iirc in previous years my eyes would have been besieged by Richie York Vainly Battling by this point in June.

Is this trend on its slide down?

I am not asking for your views on gender and I didn’t use the word transphobic.

I am asking you and all the other people on this thread if this thread is homophobic.

The fact that nobody seems to want to answer me speaks volumes.

To answer your question, NO we are not homophobic. Have you not seen what the TRAs have done for the Pride movement over the last decade?

FlyingPlank · 05/06/2026 00:16

I wonder if the decisions for e.g. supermarkets to do rainbow shizzle are made regionally? I haven't seen a wink of it. I live in an area where most folk would give it a hard eyeroll though.

Hmm. It's only a small thing, but you prompted me to swipe up on my phone and check my "all the apps" display to see how many have gone rainbow-coloured, and the answer is.... none! I'm sure 5 years ago loads of them changed their icons for the holy month. So that seems like progress?

Homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, acephobia & interphobia aren't progress.

The rainbows are there if you look, perhaps smaller but there, in even more places than before. Far more places use the Progress flag than a simple rainbow, too.

And younger generations are many times more tolerant, inclusive and diverse than older ones, with a much larger percentage identifying as LGBTQIA+ than ever. They're less likely to be ableist too. Sorry about that.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 05/06/2026 03:22

I do hope you recover from this terrible news of acceptance, respect and happiness xx

I'm raising a lesbian DD who speaks clearly and passionately about why the progress flag isn't progress at all for myriad reasons. She also campaigns vociferously to raise awareness of rainbow capitalism and how many of these behemoths are ableist and hiding behind flags as a veneer or progress.

Not sure she'd appreciate your sweeping generalisations about "younger generations" tbh.

I think there is less shizzle and I’m glad of it. My gay/bi friends and I have found all this, as a previous contributor eruditely put it, “load of grasping, immoral, virtue-signalling businesses…quite happy to jump on a bandwagon,” and their shizzle in recent years pathetic. Isn’t it telling one of the first things I thought of when I read this thread’s title was M&S’s LGBT sandwich and lo and behold it’s mentioned in the third post?

I didn’t even have to add a comment when I forwarded M&S’s marketing spiel about that to my friends. I knew how they’d feel about it. The replies I received were variations on the themes of, “oh FFS,” and, “patronising bullshit,” which it was.
One of my friends replied back, “why don’t they just have a campaign about a special range of fairy cakes to mark Pride month?” We laughed about that but I could have actually seen that happening.

hholiday · 05/06/2026 05:22

There was a thread on (I think) AIBU the other day, about an OP who said she felt uncomfortable with a Pride event because of the level of male fetish-wear on display. And while several of the comments scolded her (and some told her not to go into town if she felt that way), the vote was starkly in her favour – which surprised me. A lot of people are thinking this, even if they're not saying it.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 05/06/2026 05:29

It’s been absolutely fine to be gay in the UK for decades now. Pride was hijacked by gimp masks and men in dresses. Thankfully, aside from the Waitrose app (now deleted) most companies seem to have recognised this, this year.

Nothing on the Tesco app, thank goodness.

I used the website on a laptop to do a grocery order earlier today and there are small rainbow coloured dashes under the main Tesco logo.

Name5 · 05/06/2026 06:26

@changingofthenameagain I very rarely post these days on fwr threads due to personal insults (I have a trans family member) however I have never seen any homophobic comments.
Depending on your age we all just went about our business and if you encountered a person in the loo who you thought might be a transsexual we just ignored it. Todays aggressive and threatening element have made it hard for theirselves. We are what we were born as, dresses etc doesn't a woman make. Ditto for transmen.
We have many angry women hating men in the world and their wars are far more important than a bloke in a frock. Time to grow up and move on. Thankfully I see that happening.

Well, hardly surprising if she's transphobic. The progressive kids will be avoiding her like the plague.

Shedmistress · 05/06/2026 06:36

Call people 'lunatics' for not wanting gay kids castrated and then tell everyone to 'be kind'.

Gotcha!

Castrating gay kids isn't progressive. It is actually medieval.

Just in case you were confused.

Snacktastic · 05/06/2026 06:45

I refuse to buy from the supermarkets that go colourful in pride month, I see the flag and I just feel they’re proudly waving a flag to show their hatred and disregard of girls and women. Why would I give them my money? Thankfully they don’t all do it.

Snacktastic · 05/06/2026 06:55

Quercus5 · 04/06/2026 19:49

For the first time!! Usually I go and swap to Asdas in pride month. But this time Asdas have a rainbow Asda and Tescos nothing!! Tescos have lost no custom from me this year, I think their sales must’ve dipped significantly due to it.
For those shopping in person my local Lidls and Aldi never do anything/ get involved, I’m not sure if it’s across the country. But I always go there even though it’s a little more inconvenient.

Er, where did I mention anything at all to do with trans? Or even remotely refer to her opinions on anything to do with people who are trans?

I told you that she knows the definition of progress, nothing more and nothing less. Without sounding like a ridiculous cliche, some of her best friends are trans.

sunnydisaster · 05/06/2026 07:21

Good point, I’m not seeing it as much. Although I haven’t got an issue with the LGB side if it.

Firstly, it’s not transphobia or homophobia etc for organisations not plaster all public facing logos with flags nor to be happy about that.

Secondly, remind us what ‘acephobia’ is? Afaik ‘Ace’ is the new ‘sexuality’ label where a person experiences no sexual attraction that is being set up for kids that have had their libidos destroyed by puberty blockers so can you explain what ‘acephobia’ would look like?

Previous examples provided by the trans community spokespeople seemed to be someone’s nan asking why they didn’t have a girlfriend yet. Have you got any more?

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 05/06/2026 08:20

WomanSubjectFucksVerbManObject · 04/06/2026 18:52

Gosh yes they used to have a LGBT sandwich.

It's obviously not making them money. Retailers aren't doing this sort of campaigning and products for any other reason than profit, if it's not profitable, they won't do it any more.

Niminy · 05/06/2026 08:49

My very small town is going to have a Pride event this year, which I think is typical for the place: get on a bandwagon that's disappearing over the horizon. It's being run by a pub that gets drag acts in to try and get customers through the door. But it's hardly getting any traction, and they've started a crowdfunder which has raised only £50 (out of a target of £1500).

Yes, I wonder if it's regional? In Wales we have (traditionally) tended instinctively to the left, but can be a bit naive about these things...

AngleofRepose · 05/06/2026 15:59

Nothing so far in my very small village in Wales, or at the supermarkets in the nearest big town. But, I have seen the usual "progress" flag logo switch ups on websites, Argos being one of them. I wonder if they even think about it anymore, or it's just something they automatically do every June. Tedious, what's the point of it? If you want to show how virtuous you are as a company, you could try not overcharging customers just to make ridiculous profits.

Chersfrozenface · 05/06/2026 16:06

But, I have seen the usual "progress" flag logo switch ups on websites, Argos being one of them.

Argos is part of Sainsbury's, has been since 2016, and Sainsbo's is "progress" flag central. I've no idea why. Anyway, plenty of alternatives exist so meh.

SirChenjins · 05/06/2026 17:48

Our Sainsbury's have now changed the scanners to the rainbow 🙄 It's satisfying though to see that the rainbow shizzle rack is still crammed full and no-one appears to be supporting the chemical castration of children.
