Is there less Rainbows Pride marketing shizzle this year?

Fewer? Confused

Just logged on to Sainsbury's and they're a smidge colourful, but iirc in previous years my eyes would have been besieged by Richie York Vainly Battling by this point in June.

Is this trend on its slide down?

'...is Mumsnet still just anti-trans or have people on here moved towards outright homophobia these days.'

This shows that you do not understand the issues at all.

It is not transphobic to understand that mammals can't change sex and that same-sex attraction exists.

The cotton ceiling and the boxer ceiling are homophobic. Stonewall's Nancy Kelly stating that lesbians who won't include biological males in their dating pool are 'sexual racists' is truly horrific. This is why the 'progress' flag is regressive in the extreme.

I am not asking for your views on gender and I didn’t use the word transphobic.

I am asking you and all the other people on this thread if this thread is homophobic.

The fact that nobody seems to want to answer me speaks volumes.

Yes, as well as being a bit actually racist in implying the original flag did not include homosexual people of colour.

I don’t think Mumsnet has ever been ‘anti trans’, there are some greatly valued trans contributors that frequent this very board. Where did you get the idea we were anti trans @changingofthenameagain ?

It's become for many women a symbol of sexism and repression. It's very very sad.

Are you being homophobic, though?

The Sainsburys self-scan handsets - which can be changed for Christmas or Hallowe'en or whatever - have got the flag-of-many-colours on at the moment...

Can you ask for a new one in suffragette colours only. Tell them it would be discrimination otherwise.

zanahoria · 04/06/2026 23:03

I am guessing many companies just do not want to go all in and do it for a whole month, it is quite a commitment

I think you are being very disingenuous.

You ask a leading question using 'is Mumsnet still just anti-trans' which definitely implies that you think that the forum is transphobic, especially due to the following 'or have people on here moved towards outright homophobia these days.'

Are you after screenshots?

GreyskySexRealistsky · 04/06/2026 23:10

These I-just-stumbled-in-here posters are getting reeeeally boring

What?!
A good many regular posters on this board are lesbians. Didn't you know?

How would I know?

Try reading and understanding instead of demanding answers and slinging out insults?

Just a thought

GreyskySexRealistsky · 04/06/2026 23:21

No, mumsnet is not seeking to bring down the LGB community.

Glad we got that cleared up.

BiologicalRobot · 04/06/2026 23:25

changingofthenameagain · 04/06/2026 22:42

I don’t have time to do that, and that wasn’t my question. Maybe I wasn’t clear so let me rephrase it a bit.

As a woman I don’t find these flags problematic and I was hoping to understand what the issue with them is, i.e. is Mumsnet still just anti-trans or have people on here moved towards outright homophobia these days.

Quite the opposite, you will find MN is pro women/girls and supports the LGB community.

But if you haven't got the time then maybe wait until you do?

Heggettypeg · 04/06/2026 23:26

changingofthenameagain · 04/06/2026 23:14

How would I know?

Well, you could try reading a few threads, hanging around a bit, getting to recognise individual posters. Normal getting to know a community kind of things.

If you can't be bothered with all that and just want to waft in and make nasty insinuations, then you are very likely to do what you have just done, and say something silly.

Most people on here aren't going to bother to virtue-signal I Am Not Homophobic, because they take that as read.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 04/06/2026 23:30

Some man who now presents as a woman has nothing to do with my son, but it truly seems to me that there are far too many people clearly too blinkered to see that.

You are wrong @changingofthenameagain
Many people on this board support LGB without the T

I’ve just come back from my local Sainsbury’s ‘superstore’ ie big, noticed the handsets but there was nothing else, no bunting, no posters, nothing.

I’ll go to the other Sainsbury’s (which is twice the size) and see what’s going on there next week.

That’s all I wanted to know.

it was really a very simple question which just needed a simple answer, not a load of stupid and/or catty comments.

Mumsnet is meant to be a place for women to be supportive of and kind to each other, there’s a few people here who ought to remember that.

Makingsenseofitall · 04/06/2026 23:33

It’s the exact opposite of homophobia on this board. People are absolutely wanting to ensure the rights of LGB people are maintained and respected. At all times. Hence the sadness of the abuse of the pride flag and concept.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 04/06/2026 23:36

changingofthenameagain · 04/06/2026 23:02

Obviously not, try reading my earlier posts on this actual thread maybe?

Surely objecting to the presence of the so called ‘progress’ pride flag on the grounds that it is homophobic would give you the clue that we are not homophobic?

But there are some absolute lunatics on this thread who make me very uncomfortable

Who are the ‘absolute lunatics’ you are referring to?

Do you think slinging out a few shouty posts accusing posters on this thread of hatred and being anti-trans and demanding everyone answer your question RIGHT NOW was kind?

Take your own advice.

Nothing on the Tesco app, thank goodness.

Ooh. I think Ill swap allegiance from Sainsbury's- and tell them why. Am a bit cross about their decision to phase out brown eggs to go net zero. Apparently white eggs come from smaller birds and so have a lower carbon footprint.
