GLP - We’re suing a hospital for trans discrimination

“In May 2025, Lisa* was booked in for surgery to have her testes removed due to chronic pain. But a week before the operation was going to take place, the hospital called to say the surgery was cancelled.

The hospital claimed they couldn’t operate because the surgery was classed as gender-affirming care. But surgery for pain has nothing to do with gender-affirming care, and refusing to treat someone just because of their gender identity is discrimination.”

We’re suing a hospital for trans discrimination | Good Law Project

A hospital refused surgery to a woman in pain, just because she’s trans – so we’re taking them to court

Genuine question - presumably it’s stopped for all men so how is it discrimination?

SexRealistic · 29/05/2026 14:13

Oh I’ve got a pain in my X.

Oh yes let’s just chop it off.

Said no doctor ever.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/05/2026 14:17

Saying your bollocks hurt doesn't mean they'll not notice your preferred name is Lisa.

Chersfrozenface · 29/05/2026 14:17

I'll have a fiver on with W. Hill that the surgeon checked that tests had been done to find the physical cause of the pain - and either they hadn't been or they had and no physical cause had been found.

BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth · 29/05/2026 14:20

Clearly no one should be discriminated against due to their "gender reassignment " status. However, I think there must be more to it than that (especially if GLP is taking legal action, because I think they do that for a hobby now) and that doctors wouldn't want to remove someone's body parts without good reason. Why would they? Hmmm..

lornad00m · 29/05/2026 14:21

Was the chronic pain psychological? Due to wanting to identify as a woman? Because that would just be a workaround trying to access gender affirming care. Which should not be seen as a priority op given the current state of the NHS.

KnottyAuty · 29/05/2026 14:23

Wonderful news!
What could possibly go wrong if they lose…. ?!

Always offering us entertainment the good laugh project that is

mrshoho · 29/05/2026 14:33

Bit drastic to remove the testes due to pain. Hardly a routine operation and I'm sure there must be less invasive treatment offered! Makes you wonder why the surgery was scheduled in the first place?

CassOle · 29/05/2026 14:39

"... her testes..."

The whole madness laid out in 2 words.

KnottyAuty · 29/05/2026 14:39

The “woman’s” testes removal surgery was cancelled and “she” was referred to a gender clinic with a 6 year waiting list.

The GLP claim for discrimination is said to come from leaving “her” without an alternative treatment plan and having to wait a long time on the alternative waiting list.

Women with chronic pain are usually offered anti depressants and packed off with self help.

Surely the original proposed testes amputation is in itself the discrimination and transphobia writ large? No woman would ever have been offered that so why was this trans person treated differently?! 🤣

It’s Jolyon so he’ll say it doesn’t matter it was stopped for all men.

Lisa is a woman so it’s sex discrimination not to chop HER testes off.

He was born without an embarrassment gene. Or it died with the fox on that fateful Boxing Day. 🤯

Rightsraptor · 29/05/2026 14:41

I don't think it's GLP's hobby @BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth, I think it's their raison d'etre.

No doubt a careful trawl through the patient's medical notes will reveal some - ahem - 'inconsistencies'.

Yes trans women are women and women don’t get eunuch surgery. So I think Jolyon is actually outing Lisa here. 💥

Women’s rights groups should clearly campaign against this loophole in sex based discrimination. We are women and demand you chop our balls off.

Rightsraptor · 29/05/2026 14:46

I get confused at the best of times with all the direct/indirect discrimination and who the comparator should be. But now I'm in a flat spin about the comparator for poor 'Lisa' who wants 'her' balls off.

Help!

Actually, no help needed. Why sully my brain with such rubbish? I'm off to do something wholesome.

Seems that women with pain in a part of the body with sexual connotations are generally told it's a cosmetic procedure

Any reason why the kimono clad fox murderer isn't taking on these cases?

Has Lisa been investigated to identify the cause of testicular pain?
What is the cause of Lisa's pain and what are the treatment options?
If Lisa didn't identify as a woman would surgery be indicated ?

TrainedByCats · 29/05/2026 14:52

I’m curious does Jolyon get paid for legal services when the GLP brings a case?

Riapia · 29/05/2026 14:53

No fox would have been harmed during the surgery.

GLP keeps 10% (I think? CBA to go and check the exact figure) of all they raise, and pay him from that.

IlfordGap · 29/05/2026 15:02

It sounds like the GLP have found another Euan - a deeply unreliable witness.

mrshoho · 29/05/2026 15:05

Honestly how many women have to endure a lifetime of painful periods, fibroids, endometriosis before being referred for surgery? Putting up with years and years of dismissive medical professionals and relying on painkillers. Hope this case will be widely reported on when the time comes.

TrainedByCats · 29/05/2026 14:52

He gets the first 10% of the crowdfunder for running costs and then some initial work is done by their in house lawyers (very poorly). Probably charging full rates for that.

Likely hidden because it’s a company. But yes the grift is real.

Their in house lawyer did some leg work on the ECNI case and I think they crowdfunded for that. So robbing Lisa to pay Jolyon.

And now he has come up with an even more opaque corporate structure for the GLP.
