Are equality laws clear on sex and gender expression at work? Kids Toy Shop AGP

So yesterday I was in a local branch of a well known National Toy Superstore.

I needed to Click and Collect a large lego item for my daughters Birthday. I needed to be in and out as I was rushing to get back to set up for her party so i was already a little stressed thinking about getting stuck behind a long queue of people collecting random items and not being able to find their Order Number etc etc.

In the end, there was no queue and I was able to collect my item in record time.

However, I wasn't expecting to be served by a 6ft male member of staff with a receding hair-line called "Boudica" who had clearly "brought all of himself" to work that day. I wasn't prepared for the enourmous fake latex breasts that he was clearly wearing under his corporate uniform.

Problem is, what do I do? The teacher in me sees this as a safe-guarding issue (especially in a kids toy shop!) I don't believe for one minute that anyone has consented to be part of this mans fantasy.

Do equality laws actually permit this type of behaviour (even in a kids toy shop?) or am I just a big transphobe?

Oh and if a butch woman went to work in a children’s toy shop with a pair of socks shoved down the front of her trousers to mimic a dick that would also be weird and wildly inappropriate.

Sorry, Boys don't Cry. And lots of lesbians use strap on dildos so don't pretend this is a male centric thing.

What's creepy is the assumption that children will view such an image as sexual when the truth is they might just find it 'weird' just like aunty jane is for wearing a three piece suit & tie to work 'like daddy'.

And if they do find it weird how hard is to to explain that people like animals differ? That diversity is part of nature? Parents modelling sexualising the world with their 'fetishist' policing is part of the reason children are sexualised too early.

They’re not wearing strap on dildos at work though.

I don’t think the issue is that children will view it as sexual. It’s the motivation of that person to wear enormous fake breasts.

As Em likes context, here is Kayla Lemieux (Canadian teacher) pictured in school with his rubber boobs and about town without them. I personally think the photo in the school shows unprofessional attire.

It wouldn't matter if they did wear it work. The point is its not necessarily a fetish but rather an expression of inner masculinity that they want to embrace.

People who interpret everything as a sexual fetish often struggle with hyper-sexualization and projection. In other words this might be more about your own inner 'demons' that what the facts are.

Utter bollocks. A man wearing fake plastic tits to work in a children’s toy shop is not something that should be swept under the carpet. It’s wrong and pretending it’s just a bit weird like fictional aunty Jane is also wrong. Pretending that sexualised behaviour is not sexual is the reason that some children end up being the victims of abuse.

You must be new around these parts, that word doesn’t work on here.

I'm not suggesting that sexual fetishes don't exist rather you can't assume someone has one by just looking at them & if you are that's about self reflection.

Are these lesbians using strap on dildos at work? Specifically wearing strap on dildos whilst wearing latex and working in a toy shop?

Maybe. How do you always know what lies beneath? Lot's of women wear sexy lingerie under their clothes to work. Is that a fetish? Possibly. But we don't know without knowing the individuals inner motivation.

Again that you assume fetish proves more about you than anything else.

spstchmu · 25/05/2026 00:58

You're a transphobe.
Don't be ridiculous.

You really don’t think that can be assumed about the Canadian teacher? What other reason could they have for wearing fake breasts like that?

SternJoyousBeev2 · 25/05/2026 01:05

Operation Let Them Speak in full force.

Enormous latex tits worn by a bloke in a children’s toy shop is perfectly acceptable behaviour and anyone who thinks otherwise is a bigot and probably a nazi too. ….

🙄

Ok, let's not call it a fetish.
There is being gender non-conforming and there is taking the piss.
The person on the left of the photo at 00: 48 in this thread is definitely, but definitely, taking the piss.

A mental health problem which I suspect that particular individual may have suffered from particularly given that she was in a workshop & her attire looks unsafe.

But that's not to say all big boobed trans women are mentally ill just like all women with enormous implants aren't.

nocoolnamesleft · 24/05/2026 23:45

I can see why you are concerned about a fetishistic exhibitionist trying to involve bystanders in his fetish who has chosen to do so in an environment attractive to young children. But any attempt to safeguard the children will result in cries of bigot.

All cries of bigot and transphobe will be entirely vexatious.

I see what you tried to do there. Lame attempt though. It's okay to call a fetish a fetish. Have you heard of The Emperor's New Clothes by any chance?

There was a fair bit of circumstantial evidence he did it as a Fuck You to the school board after being reprimanded for saying something that wasn't considered PC enough about trans people. When he got a job at another district he stopped wearing them.

Well there you go. I guess we can never be sure what's going on in another person's mind.

If the teacher was doing it to make a point, why do you think he choose fake breasts like that? Whether he was genuine on not, it was clearly inappropriate.

NumberTheory · 25/05/2026 02:47

I don't think it matters whether it's a fetish, an expression of his inner masculinity (which, if that were the claim, would basically be a fuck you to anyone who talks about inner masculinity with a straight face), a genuine belief that it's an expression of his internal feminine gender, or he did it for a dare, it's still a misogynistic fuck you to women and a matter of safeguarding in the sense of the need to stop girls from being given the idea that it's fine for men to rip the piss out of them and mock their biology.

It's a giant sized advertisement for why TWANW in the face of every right-thinking individual who sees this person. And ten times as powerful for being in a toy shop, of all places. I'll bet this person has peaked several hundred others, all of them parents of young children. I'd almost say it's a worthwhile sacrifice.

Maybe ask yourself whether a woman with enormous fake breasts would be so triggering for the answer.

Honestly, I can't imagine why the kind of woman who would get enormous fake breasts would have any interest in working in a children's toy shop either. Women who get ginormous breast implants typically do so bc they work as strippers or in porn. Or at the very least do so to encourage oggling from adult men.

So yes, it would be just as inappropriate and triggering.

Edited

Actually, I'd argue anyone who calls themselves a transwoman, big implants/balloons or not, as well as females who get comically large breast implants, are mentally ill. It's called body dysmorphia and yes - you can tell they have it just by witnessing their clownishly large bazingas.
