It's actually scary how close we came though.
I remember, not too very long ago, for being banned for correcting a news article about a trans identified male cyclist who was whinging about something or other. I rewrote the short paragraph to change "female" to "male" to show how utterly ridiculous the article sounded when you used real words instead of ideology. I was banned.
I also remember being chucked off for stating some very basic biological facts, absolutely zero inflammatory language, just basic physiological and biological science. You might not think that was possible here just a few years ago, but it was.
I came so close to leaving this site because it was not a place you could speak freely, even here on FWR.

I am so glad things have changed. Houses of cards always fall, sometimes it just takes a little bit of wind, and sometimes it takes a huge storm, but they always fall in the end.

Well I for one would like to offer my sincere thanks to MumNet for provide a free speech space, and not bowing to the pressure from the Alphabetty Mafia.

My thanks to the investigators at KiwiFarms as well, the more these perverts are exposed the better.

It was a poster with a range of usernames who posted threads like ‘Do you like your surname?’ Or ‘You have to call your dog whatever you had for lunch. What do you call your dog?’

The opening post would then be this person’s answer to the question. Then a long line of MNers would answer the question too. All very weird.

Mumsnet holds a special status in the minds of the TRAs. I know how obsessed a trans identified person I used to be very close to was with this site. They were genuinely fearful and believed that the site hosts a secret board used to co ordinate aggressive anti trans action such as finding, outing and harrassing people who are trans identified, among other things.

For a lot of people on that side of the debate though, it will just be fury that women have a place where we don't have to pretend to believe them and aren't disciplined for dissent.

I am not good on dates but if that conicides with the time when moderating shifted up a gear to such an extent that many of the very well informed long standing poster (with good political analysis) just gave up and moved away.

As well as the remarkably stupid and not asked for splitting of the long standing FWR forum so that "nice" feminists could have a space and not have to think about the TRA agenda! (which to be fair some on this forum at the time agreed with).

So it is consequential. Although to be fair a lone online "activist" probably had no more or even less impact than pressure from advertisers. Which are very own home grown TRAs were more than happy to use to arm their campaign against women's sex based rights and try to silence GC discussion.
