So let’s get this straight.

my rape is so violent and disturbing that mnhq delete my description of it on the grounds that it’s too upsetting for others to read.

but it’s not enough for me to be allowed to avail of my legal right to a single sex space, according to a trans woman?

how does that work then?

Wearenotborg · 03/05/2026 20:31

What I want to know is which woman that poster identifies as. I mean, he couldn’t be so sexist as to believe than women are defined by the outdated, sexist offensive ideas of gender and all women are some kind of hive mind? Could he?

Taztoy · 03/05/2026 20:32

onepostwonder · 03/05/2026 20:31

...you do not have the life experiences that only a woman can have, so whatever understanding you have is very different from a woman's.

The relevance of this to the application of public spaces is solely culturally derived. In the sex realist argument, sex realist beliefs about biology are driving proposed changes to the cultural value system. No one is arguing that sex realist beliefs in sex don't have relevance in some situations. It's the imposition of the beliefs beyond those situations.

You are creating the definition of 'woman' and reifying significance to its meaning. Whether or not I or anyone else meet this expectation is entirely up to you.

The Supreme Court disagrees. The definition of woman isnt up to me or you. It’s been clarified.

It’s a time with an “o’clock” in it, of course it is.

(eta: that so doesn’t work. I know this. But I’m leaving it because it’s much more sophisticated than the conversation we’re otherwise getting)

I've never purchased a pregnancy test or requested one be done in a clinic. In my experience, it seems to be a standard non-consented add-on in many medical encounters.

I don't understand what relevance Isla Bryson has to this discussion. Is it the shibboleth of 'look at all the non-passing older transitioners' or is the 'trans rapist!' one?

In my experience, it seems to be a standard non-consented add-on in many medical encounters.

Yes, and do you know why medics do this? Do you know why I had to take a pregnancy test to join a clinical trial a few years ago, and be barred from the trial if I refused?

It's the "person who won't get asked to pee on a stick because obviously male" point.

Forced pregnancy through rape is a material and biological phenomenon, not a cultural one. Single-sex spaces exist to minimise the risk to women of suffering that phenomenon.

onepostwonder You are creating the definition of 'woman' and reifying significance to its meaning

You flatter me! Other people have defined 'woman', in a multifaceted way - not just the obvious biological definition, but that is the foundation stone, the sine qua non of the other facets, and I find those definitions satisfactory, I don't feel the need to create my own.

I'm not sure what 'reifying significance' means in this context - I feel it's more likely the opposite, significance and meaning deriving from the res, not the other way round.

Why would females not be welcome in female spaces?

Actually I have doubts about this. The Supreme Court discussed it. If a female 'man' is very masculine in appearance and voice, I don't think she should be in the Ladies. She's likely to cause anxiety amongst other women. It would also muddy the waters still further, regarding masculine men claiming to be women.

Fortunately, I don't believe many 'trans men' would want to be in the Ladies'.

If such a woman has a women's health condition, she should be treated by the female-appropriate facility.

Thank you, Ophelia.

It really upset me because I was talking about how PTSD can lead to physical problems like high blood pressure and stroke. He said that if I chose not to be harmed, I wouldn't be. By strong implication, I chose my partial blindness and other physical problems that stem from my PTSD re-experiencing and terror. I don't know why, but that hit me hard. I've probably been lucky but I haven't been blamed for my PTSD or it resulting problems in a long time.

I appreciate your support. Several GC women supported me in that thread and I appreciate that more than I can say. It was triggering.

I remember that thread, and I remember who that poster was and his cod philosophy, and I remember my shock at what he said, given who he is

But if transmen are safe in male spaces, surely that blows apart the claim TIM make that the males are unsafe in male spaces? If females are safe in male spaces, males would be even safer surely?

No one would be allowed in anyone's proximity if personal consent was the rule of law. I am sorry you feel that way and I value your feelings, but society does a piss poor job of controlling everyone else's movement based on my feelings also.

I don't lie to anyone.

But you do. By omission. You don’t speak up and say im a trans woman im not entitled to be in here.

singke sex spaces are enshrined in law. I do not consent to a man sharing a counselling space with me. You are a man, in law. And you should not be there.

So you admit you know your presence as a male makes women uncomfortable and afraid but you don’t care? I thought women were conditioned to #bekind and put others feelings and needs first? As a woman should you not be doing that bit? Would this be more proof of male socialisation and entitlement?

You should exercise self control and comply with the law. It is not for anyone else to control you, you are an adult human. You are male. You should use men's facilities. Your feelings are subservient to the fact of your sex.

Transmen should use the women's facilities. We can cope.

Taztoy · 03/05/2026 20:54

And every time you go into a woman’s single sex space, @onepostwonder, you’re NOT valuing my feelings or those of all the other women who feel as I do. Nor are you aligning with the law. But you most definitely are not valuing my feelings. Not one bit.

You clearly don't, otherwise you wouldn't describe it as an "add-on".

  • Pregnancy tests are key diagnostic work-up for several symptoms, including lower right abdominal pain, which can indicate both right fallopian ectopic pregnancy and appendicitis.
  • Pregnancy contraindicates some medical treatments, including topiramate used to control epilepsy.
  • Pregnancy indicates some treatments that would otherwise not be indicated. The best-known example is antibiotics for cystitis. Pregnant women are given them immediately but the rest of us are given sodium citrate sachets and told to return if the cystitis persists.

To you, it's an add-on that you don't need. To us, it's life-and-death diagnostic and treatment information.

This is describing just a small part of how the material reality of sex affects medical interactions for women. The rest of life is affected, starting with the safety decisions that women make every day.

It’s like flat earthers. Do they actually believe it, or is it an intellectual exercise to make them feel more interesting than ordinary people, or is it a club to belong to?

My use of the phrase 'add-on' was in relation to its unannounced appearance in my tests. You however are inferring a lot of assumptions to my response.
