Bluestocking Women’s Pub - it’s Maytime!

ErrolTheDragon · 01/05/2026 08:48

Welcome to any women who want the company of women!

Thats it really….ok so this place is staffed by gerbils with the occasional quokka or capybara but it functions like a friendly pub where you don’t have to know what’s going on all the time.
The drinks don’t intoxicate and the food is delicious yet healthy so please do come in.

Boily, they are The Other Side.
(I kill the little buggers, too. Other beetles I will move gently out of the way, or - if inside - carefully return to the garden.)

Urgh yes, hate the fucking things. Not much better when you find them singly either. They don’t have the tact and discretion to be camouflaged, they flaunt themselves in scarlet and their revolting offspring are slimy little shits.

(that is all accurate descriptive language not swearing).

@ErrolTheDragon Apologies - have just realised that that video says 'for seniors'.

I’m Seniors, too. It’s just right, thank you.

Yes, I appreciate just watching the video isn’t enough.

WearyAuldWumman · 02/05/2026 22:51

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2026 22:11

I’m 65 so probably qualify!Grin Thanks

Oh, I'm a few months older than you. (Turned 66 last month.)

Those are not lily beetles, they look like ladybirds who are the gardeners’ friend.

Oh, is that where I’ve been going wrong with YouTube exercise?

I always keep one of those wee plastic spoons (for taking medicine) in my pocket. If I see a lily beetle I slide it underneath the wee scarlet bugger. It catches it if it drops off whatever it's clinging too. I can then squish it. Or, if it manages to drop into the soil, I can stab it to death with the pointy end of the spoon.

You might want to tell the ones outside the Bluestocking that, as soon as I finish my pint, I'll be coming out to sma...speak to them. And I'll be bringing my spoon.

Eta definitely not ladybirds, carapace too square and no white marks on the pronotum.

AngleofRepose · 02/05/2026 23:04

Gerbils, I know it's late, but one hot chocolate please

😱i have just joined the ABLA++++ (All Beetles Liberation Army) the plus is for any other bugs who want an inclusive bug culture, where bugs can be whomsoever they want to be.

But what a hedgehog usually wants a beetle to be is dinner….

The lily beetles were too scared to attend the protest.

I seem to recall when I declared myself as a hedgehog i was clear i did not eat worms, and bugs, many threads ago…..

I might add we have a social contract that we do not eat each other, it would be absolute bloody carnage.

The perfect drink for a hedgehog😂

Another hot chocolate, please, Gerbils, this one with cream. Thanks

Chickadeeinme · 02/05/2026 23:48

I just got back from my book launch reading which went very well and I sold 7 books, which pleased me enormously since half the people there were there to hear the prose writer who did the other half of the time. I’m particularly happy that three of the books were bought by poets I know and respect who have publication histories far longer than mine. Celebration gin please bargerbil and a selection of chocolates.

The rain has started properly here now.
Good timing, but it didn’t get the Camelot instructions about falling gently overnight, I may need my earplugs.

I used to be a proper camper of the tent variety. I loved the rain hammering on my tent, until it leaked….

AsWithGlad · 03/05/2026 01:20

Excellent, @Chickadeeinme , well done!

AuntieMsDamsonCrumble · 03/05/2026 07:37

It seems to have been raining for most of the night here and everything has had a much -needed soaking. The forecast says it wll stop by 9 a.m. which is good as I am driving to Cheshire today and the M6 is horrible in wet weather. At least there are fewer lorries around on a Sunday.

You're on the WSOH here, Boily.

EdithStourton · 03/05/2026 08:42

We had some rain here, eventually. I'm about to go and poke a veg bed to see how much.

AuntieMsDamsonCrumble · 03/05/2026 08:47

Why is my MN feed suddenly full of chair yoga ads?

I haven't spotted a star jump yet.😁
