Sorry for the link.https://www.dailymail.com/tvshowbiz/article-15759671/Suzy-Eddie-Izzard-kids-one-day-mother-death.html

Apparently Suzie Eddie Izzard has said he would like to have children some day.

Do we think 64 year old Suzie Eddie will be in girl mode or boy mode when he reproduces? And will the Suzie Eddie baby call Suzie Eddie mummy or daddy?

Answers on a postage stamp.

Izzard spoke to Gyles Brandreth

Never a good omen, to speak to “Grim Reaper” Brandreth. He should rethink his plans.

I always thought him deeply unfunny, but I was a proper grownup in his heyday.

@TonysGotANewMotor I saw him a few times, including on that tour. Absolutely brilliantly funny and such different topics to be funny about. The clothes and the name don’t bother me at all, but his pride in his disregard of boundaries around women’s spaces sadly reveal just another misogynist.

Why can’t you just leave people alone? Why so much hatred? Eddie/Suzie has proven to be an enduring and much loved talent who has brought joy to millions. For those who for some reason think he’s washed up, he’s been doing a world tour of his solo Hamlet since 2024 with over 250 performances so far.

I adored him when he was funny and edgy. Definite Article - on cassette! - lived in my car stereo for months.

But the current creepy misogynistic fetishist who gleefully transgresses women's boundaries and is too unconscious of his privilege to even notice, is a very different proposition. No hatred, just the terminal ick.

“They’re not women’s clothes, they’re my clothes, I bought them.”

Fine, yes. Recognising that gender is bollocks.

”I like nail polish & heels so I must be part girl.”

Tired old stereotypical crap.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · Today 10:05

The article's a bit misleading, the interviewer led him up to the children bit and he made a few reserved 'never say never' comments, but that was all - that's been blown into 'he wants children shock horror'.

Yes, I find it very sad too. He was such a talented, good looking man in his heyday, although he's always been open about the trauma involved.

I am trans, but I fancy women, I've always fancied women, never fancied boys or men, it just doesn't work for me

Can he hear himself?

What does he mean by the word women - people like him?

Shortshriftandlethal · Today 10:16

From national treasure to repellant narcissist.

It really doesn't make sense does it? He thinks he's a woman but I'll bet he would never think of dating another person just like him.

He's just admitted that he's a heterosexual man, who fancies women to the point where he wishes he had a family with one.

A man who fancies women and thoroughly enjoys getting into their intimate spaces, to the point where he wrote about it in his book.

You can leave it alone if you want, women will keep pointing out the rank misogyny.

Exactly.

It never ceases to irritate me how TRAs will blithely use sex realism when it suits them.

They bang on about women this, and men that, based on biology when it's advantageous but suddenly that's total bigotry when it isn't.

Surely that makes him a trans exclusionary bigot then?

Nothing says 'I'm a man' like choosing to become a parent in your 60s, does it Suzyeddy?

Perfect response

Gotback · Today 10:49

I agree so much about loving his comedy in the past. I went to see him live 5 or 6 times in my youth. But now? Jeez. Almost the worst thing, almost .... he "switches to girl mode". Girl? GIRL? He's in his fucking 60s! Surely at best (and obviously still utter nonsense) he "switches to 60 year old post menopausal woman mode".

If we can identify into a younger age then I'm 12 and I'd better go coz I've got double maths.

Absolutely this. 90s Eddie: my hero. I can still recite Definite Article and Glorious virtually word for word. Absolutely brilliant to see a gender-non-conforming man (and he never EVER said anything about being a woman) being out there, unapologetically, and bloody funny with it. I had DA on video tape and even my parents started off with "What the hell is this" and ended up laughing along. Cake or death, Jeff the God of Biscuits, being an action transvestite - comedy genius.

And now...he is demanding access to women's spaces despite women saying they don't want him there, and boasting about scaring teenage girls. I feel very sorry for him that he lost his mother at such a young age - the comments in the article about feeling 'dead inside' must be awful for him, and it echoes with a comment he made in one of his routines about Diana's death ("My mother died and no-one gave a shit"). But if that's how he feels then he needs therapy, not adulation for wearing womanface.

MMBaranova · Today 11:47

The story is very much one of mildly leading him on and then picking on what he said.

'No, I would, I would like to have them but umm...' "

Add 'had' between have and them and it would have been nothing at all to see.

That doesn't mean that Izzard doesn't have major issues that seem to be whacked onto the table or in women's spaces. Having looked at some old routines: they are very witty. Now it is boundary pushing.

Funnywonder · Today 11:48

Adding my voice to the former admiration of Eddie Izzard. I absolutely loved him. DP and I saw him at the Opera House in Belfast and were really impressed when he strode out in leggings and heels, make up and dangly earrings. I honestly thought he was a fantastic example of someone who was comfortable with who he was and how he presented himself. But my love for Eddie Izzard died when started yakking on about girl mode and then there was that awkward photo of him standing in the queue for the women’s toilets (looking like a reject from The Dick Emery Show.) Sigh …

AmaryllisNightAndDay · Today 11:56

Elderly comedian still hasn't figured out that what's cute at 25 and edgy at 40 gets creepy by 60.

Izzard may well fancy women. I doubt it's reciprocated much these days.

DisappearingGirl · Today 12:10

Yeah I think the Daily Mail are rage baiting a bit.

I would hope he's aware it wouldn't be fair to actually father a child in his 60s (though he wouldn't be the first).

I still like Eddie in some ways and feel sad for him losing his mum age 6 and then being sent to boarding school. He said in a previous interview that his household was very male after his mum died - just him, his dad and brother. I know it's cod psychology but I always wondered if that was one of the things that led to him cross-dressing / identifying as trans.

Yeah, there's definitely a rush of empathy for anyone who's lost their mother at a young age, and then sent to boarding school.

And to have that emptiness and sadness continuing throughout life is doubly so.

And there's no doubt that Eddie Izzard was a very clever comedian and a likable character. Albeit coming across as quite complex.

Which makes it even more frustrating and depressing that he swans around with the entitlement of any other middle-aged man, and a bit more. Especially now everybody knows about AGP.

I mean, FFS, Eddie way to crash your cred.

Single men and surrogacy is a bit of an item at present.....plus Eddie is such a big let down, and an arrogant one at that.

Lots of appreciative comments about both his comedy and his gender non-conforming stance. Natural people want to discuss his more recent volte face to saying he is sometimes a girl.

WallaceinAnderland · Today 12:28

He still gets work and I guess he still gets admiration from some people but he's lost a lot of fans who previously admired him because of his nonsense.

There is absolutely no reason for Eddie to use the female facilities. He has said himself that he is not a woman but he sometimes goes into 'girl mode' in his leisure time. His professional work is all as a male.

It's not ok to tell women his fetish overrides their right to comfort, safety and dignity.
