Appreciation for J K Rowling in sex and gender discussions

Whenever I see her posts the world suddenly makes some sense to me, J K Rowling is a beacon of sanity and reality, always on the side of women and girls. Her words always help me to remember that I'm one of the normal sane women in the world who understand the tide of misogyny that tries to drown us with the "trans" nonsense. Hallelujah and thanks to the goddess for J K's existence.

Hear, hear.

JKR, if you are reading, please accept it if you are offered!

WhosMadeline · 04/04/2026 22:45

Thank you JK.

Ha, can you imagine the meltdown?!

The Tories could have done it when they were in charge. I think the genpub would have approved, but they weren't brave enough.

nauticant · 04/04/2026 22:54

This is why I love JKR's work in this area:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5540531/JK-Rowling-likes-transphobic-tweet-referring-transgender-people-men-dresses.html

She resisted, but then backed down because she was scared that a world full of gender extremists would go on the attack, but then did it anyway.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.

She's been offered a place in the lords at least twice but declined.

To be fair she can do a lot more outside!

JK Rowling turned down House of Lords peerage twice

The revelation comes after Kemi Badenoch said she would give Rowling a peerage for her stance on gender.

JK Rowling taught me with her success and strength to not back down even in the face of misogyny even before the discussions on gender. Seeing her when I was younger not give up and keep succeeding even with especially male critics trying to degrade her and her work as lesser kept me going through everything from recovering from bad jobs with horrible coworkers to leaving abusive relationships and finally finishing college. She's one of my biggest inspirations.

hholiday · 05/04/2026 09:20

What a fantastic idea for a thread. I think it’s the reason her books will stand the test of time. The thread that runs through Harry Potter is ordinary people and children showing the bravery to stand up for what’s right against all odds. It’s been wonderful to see the author is just as inspiring as the characters she creates.

PoachedSmoke · 05/04/2026 09:23

She's a bloody hero. I absolutely love her, and I suspect the vast majority feel the same! I love the fact she's so rich they can't touch her 🤣🤣🤣👌

Pleasantsort2 · 05/04/2026 09:31

She's so selfless. Love JK as she truly just wants to help women and children and knows she is in a very fortunate position to do so. Didn't know she has turned down HOL. In a way she is too good for all that shite anyway !

Bluebootsgreenboots · 05/04/2026 09:57

Thank goodness JKR said no to the HoL - think of all the Strike books that she might not have had time to write if she’d been doing that!
She’s amazing. I’m continually stunned by the small number of people prepared to stand up for her in public (I can only think of The Rest is History two, and Draco Malloy for now).

Truly grateful for her courage, we might not be as far along this journey as we are without her.

DialSquare · 05/04/2026 10:10

My admiration for her knows no bounds. She backs her words up with action and knew what she would face by stepping in to the debate but still did it anyway. A wonderful, articulate, clever and funny woman that I will forever be grateful to.

BlakeCarrington · 05/04/2026 10:15

Frankly I wish she was Prime Minister, such an amazing woman.

TheAutumnCrow · 05/04/2026 10:41

JKR has posted herself on Twitter/X, I seem to remember, that she has turned down both a peerage (seat in the Lords) and a Damehood.

I’m pleased she’s so mindful of her creative time, and her freedom, and the freedoms of other women. And accepting positions and honours from potentially non-egalitarian sources and systems might be used to accuse her of compromising herself politically.

Such honours might help others who need that step up and public acknowledgment, but she’s extremely unusual in that she already is way above all that.

And she seems to be a genuinely good person. She changed the landscape and I’ll never forget that.

Burntt · 05/04/2026 20:07

Yup she’s awesome. If she was running for prime minister she’d have my vote for sure

BoeotianNightmare · 05/04/2026 20:11

Could not love her more. Thanks OP.

ScaryFaces · 05/04/2026 20:13

Has she acknowledged she was wrong to call Lin Yu-ting a man yet?

TakeTheCuntingQuichePatricia · 05/04/2026 20:16

She's an absolute heroine. I love her books and I love her bravery to stand up and say what she believes. Sadly DS was in London today and he sent me this photo. Looks like someone is spraying grafitti on the floor. I hope no one felt intimidated.

She is an amazing woman, and thank goodness for her legal fund which has allowed women to fight back against men's rights activists 💜🤍💚

@TakeTheCuntingQuichePatricia was anyone actually paying them any attention?! That's one sorry looking 'demo' 😂

njird · 05/04/2026 20:25

fastest way to catch a TRA out? Ask them to use specific quotes to show examples of her alleged transphobia. They never ever can. Because she isn’t transphobic.

Here you go: https://glaad.org/gap/jk-rowling/

Timestamped, with direct quotes.

Highlights include comparing trans women using bathrooms to enabling pedophiles, declaring "there are no trans kids," deliberately misgendering named individuals to provoke arrest, and comparing being trans to claiming to be a different race. She also wrote a novel featuring a male serial killer who dresses as a woman to murder victims.

Let me know which of those you'd like to discuss specifically.
