I didn’t agree with her stance on independence but she is a clever, articulate woman and a better politician than Nicola Sturgeon.

if she’d been a Labour or Lib Dem candidate I would have given her serious thought for my vote…

Childish.

Funny 😂

I am and I do care that Scotland is governed by a bunch of incompetent fuckwits.

Use your vote then for the incompetent fuckwits that JC is still a member of.

Are you voting in May?

I care and I'm voting in May.

I was an SNP member. I left because of the nonsense being promulgated by Sturgeon et al. I'd hoped that my local MSP - Jenny Gilruth - might have more sense, but no such luck.

Differentforgirls · 09/03/2026 17:22

The people who can’t vote in Scotland don’t matter. Not sure why you think they do?

Well, to be fair, if in the U.K. they are paying tax that benefits the Scots too. There are more than 10.5 million people in Greater London alone (wealthiest part UK) and only five- ish in Scotland.

EvelynBeatrice · 09/03/2026 17:25

We’re in a union! - trading, economic and political!

I like JC but you would have to point a gun to me head before I'd vote for the SNP or the SGreens and even then I'm not sure I could do it.

I'll be buying her book. I wouldn't have known about it, so thanks for bumping the thread.

Well this is a prime example. No one cares. She appears to be a very sad lady who is always seeking Nicola’s attention while Nicola doesn’t give her a passing thought.

Well I daresay Nicola’s got a lot on her plate, what with preparing her evidence for Peter’s trial and a’that.

Yes it is - and I’m not alone in it.

2021 had the highest turn out of voters in the history of the Scottish Parliament, so you may not be alone, but you’re in a minority.

I saw you’re post about voting for Neil? What do you think about the latest drama?

Yes I care, yes I am voting in May, yes I am voting the best I can against the SNP specifically because of Nicola's unhinged obsession with gender ideology and the damage it has done to women and children and the integrity of public life across Scotland.

+1

Against? Do you know what elections are for? You vote FOR a party or in our case for a representative, then a party. You have no option to vote against something.

Actually you do. If you were old enough you'd realise that people have been doing this for years.

When I was a student in Glasgow many moons ago, those of us in the Hillhead constituency voted tactically against the Tories.

Yes.

loislovesstewie · 09/03/2026 17:30

I've decided to comment that I'm interested in what JC says despite not living in Scotland, perhaps because I care about females.
And to bump the thread.

Weeelokthen · 09/03/2026 17:30

EvelynBeatrice · 09/03/2026 17:17

Sadly, I don’t think most people do. I think there is no individual or party at this time that most people ‘want in’. There is a sad lack of intelligence, ability , common sense or basic human decency and probity in our aspiring and incumbent representatives.

Many of us are reduced to voting for the least worst option.

You are very sadly. correct.
I am also homeless, politically

INeedAPensieve · 09/03/2026 17:30

I've met Joanna Cherry and she was really personable, clear and engaging.

She isn't a career politician and actually had(or has) a job out-with being a politician. She's astute and also able to stand up to bullying from those she previously considered friends, which is no small feat.

I don't yet know who I will vote for in May, as yes, the pool of talent and good representation in my area in Scotland is small, but I will not vote for the SNP. I voted for them for a long time, but not now.

And, lots of people care. They care about how badly our NHS is being run, the dire straits of education in Scotland, the economy as well as embezzlement charges that Nicola's husband is involved in, all the gender ideology stuff. So, ground level, when talking to people day-to-day, the more people I talk to about this, the more have heard about Sandie Peggie and it's kind of a "why has this happened?" sort of reaction, not "I don't care".

People pay attention when mad stuff that would not have happened 10 years ago starts happening. To ordinary people, doing ordinary jobs that most people recognise and appreciate. Hell even me, if someone had told me 15 years ago that a nurse with a 30+ year career would be punished by her employer for complaining about having to strip in front of a man and that my government were arguing to keep violent male prisoners in women's prisons, I'd have thought they were on glue. But here we are, in 2026 and that's exactly what has happened. The Victorians were more humane about prisons for females than the SNP in 2026.

I’ve never did it. Honestly. I just vote who I’d like as a government.

I'm disappointed that I'll not be able to vote for Neale Hanvey. However, there's a pro-Indy alternative for Mid-Scotland and Fife.

I live in Scotland so I will be voting in May.
