Sure, they mean the prisoner was puberty blocked as a young child, then moved on to cross sex hormones, then committed the offence. Such people will "pass" better than those who transitioned as adults, but will still not have changed sex, of course.

Today's guy sounds as though he has a terrible cold. I hope it's actually allergies or some other problem, otherwise everyone in that room will have it by the day after tomorrow...

IANAL but I'm pretty sure it's fine; certainly there has been no indication that we can't comment in real time. I think the general pattern is that we can't in cases concerning individuals, as opposed to cases involving the law.

This guy is making my blood boil. I suppose he has to do his job. Maybe he doesn't like it either.

I do get the feeling that the judge gets it, though that doesn't necessarily mean the judgement will go the right way.

Judge trying very hard not to sound as though she's asking "why should women prisoners be used to help rehabilitate a man who identifies as a woman?". I do think she gets it.
