Hoardasurass · 29/01/2026 13:11

LGBT Youth Scotland are being sued by a former client (no names please as theirs an anonymity order in place).
They've failed in a strike out order and now there's going to be an 8 day trial.
Link to crt documents in the tweet.

Good!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 29/01/2026 13:32

Excellent!

"Counsel for the pursuer acknowledged that he had identified no authority which demonstrated the existence of a duty not to groom another person, or a duty not to introduce another person to exploitative environments and sex work; it was therefore possible that Scots law did not currently recognise grooming as a delict in and of itself."

Really???

@Forecastsayssnowbutthereisnosnow
Oh, okay then, groom away! 🙄

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 29/01/2026 14:36

Sounds like they had a grim experience, I hope their suit is successful and all the horrible details of this organisation are made public, and enough evidence come to light to have criminal charges brought against a whole raft of people.

There are many government funded bodies in Scotland that should be scared about now, very scared.

Pleasantsort2 · 29/01/2026 15:03

Great! Solidarity with the pursuer. Have long wondered why that lot were not subject to a thorough investigation and public enquiry. You can't just change a troubled Project's name and make it ok. Massive safeguarding concerns there.

Ah but 5he Scottish government claims that they investigated them when the pedophile founder was convicted and everything is fine, but they cant show us the investigation or tell us who did the investigation as they deleted it after 5 years due to gdpr 🤨
Now if you believe the Scottish government's claims i have a bridge and palace to sell you

does anyone know who the witnesses are for the respondents? Please please please let one be my arsehole manager who was their CEO at the time.

When was this investigation? Was it earlier than the start of the Goddard Inquiry (latterly the IICSA)? Because there was a requirement NOT to destroy any files relating the child sexual abuse until the inquiry was complete.

Honestly I'm surprised you're surprised.

Scottish law will consider non custodial sentences for those found guilty of rape (and other serious crimes) if they're under 25. Because the wee crims brains aren't fully developed so they can't be held wholly accountable.

So not considering grooming a crime is in keeping with the rest of the bullshittery in our justice system atm.

If you are (very small chance!), or were, the person who I worked with in 2008-10 (I worked in another agency and we contacted you to co produce something), then I'd love to touch base. You were AR and I was SW. Just ignore if not!

The government claimed that it was done just after the founder was jailed so about 10 or 12 years ago and everything other than the all good here outcome was deleted years before the current enquiry (which isn't covering lgbt youth Scotland).
When the sg were questioned about lgbt youth in 2024 after aligations came out about them and questions were asked in the press about them and their pedophile founder they just kept repeating that an investigation was done at the time but they nolonger hold the data during to gdpr

Thanks @Hoardasurass but what a cop out but terribly convenient.

If GDPR was the reason they destroyed files that would be after May 2018 and I’m pretty sure the order to retain all child sex abuse files indefinitely was before then. In fact I’ve just done an online search and I think the national moratorium was announced in 2015.

Those aren't my initials but I think I know the small nearing retirement age woman to whom you refer and she is even more horrid than him to work with.

Remembering these are the people who destroyed all their WhatsApp’s from during Covid, and oversee a health service that just destroyed a bunch of files with a no destroy order. And are currently ignoring a information commissioner direction to release another set of files.

I don't believe that they actually did investgate them just claims to have. Though they have form for deleting information that they were ordered not to just look at all the deleted covid WhatsApp messages after they were ordered not to same with the Dundee hospital about the dodgy surgeon

And by the by males under 25 have the highest offending rate, iirc.

Oh I do hope this actually has traction. Just going to link to my thread I created about LGBTYS a while back for any lurkers, with the help of @WandsOut who also collated another thread in AIBU including mine to show EXACTLY how dodgy an organisation this is that the Scottish government continue to defend and fund...

Yes. Staggering that LGBTYS are still business as usual.

Crooked from top to toe.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 30/01/2026 14:29

Anyone in Scotland who votes for the SNP is a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves, imo 😱

But their wee brains are not fully cooked. 🙄

They've matured enough to vote, get a mortgage, join the armed services, join the police, get married, have kids, own a firearm etc ... but be jailed for rape? Perhaps not. According to the halfwits in the Scottish Parliament. 😡

Waitwhat23 · 31/01/2026 16:45

LGBTYS are rotten to the core. It needs dismantled and replaced. It's been plagued by safeguarding scandals and accusations of grooming for years.

Shockingly, James Rennie, the former CEO of LGBTYS, described as 'one of the ringleaders of Scotland's biggest paedophile network' was released last month.

ohnonotthisargumentagain · 31/01/2026 16:51

i wish this would make the schools promoting and fundraising for this revolting organisation rethink their association with them.
