"A woman who is trans"

I've been noticing this terminology creeping in. Just thought I might highlight it, so we can keep up to date with their ever-changing attempts to control language and muddy the waters. Have you seen any in the wild?

Not a mention of the woman who’s trans, who did nothing wrong. This ruling is in direct conflict with the Gender Recognition Act. How is this happening? It is wrong on every level, and will be used to push trans people even further out of society and into danger

IndiaWilloughby (@indiawilloughby.bsky.social)

Trans people should expect no fair treatment or justice in the UK - the 22nd safest country in Europe to be LGBT. Biological Female 🏳️‍⚧️ Anti Free Speech.

I was also talking about everyday situations. Do you think every person got my pronouns right without prompting or telling them out of kindness? I have no doubt that if people were actively reading me as trans my life would be a lot harder. Or have I just come across all the nice people?

So, because people are observing that you are a male person likely with a transgender identity and either just use the expected pronoun for a male with a transgender identity of the opposite sex, or avoid using sex based language, you think you pass well?

Why would you expect people you meet in everyday situations to not 'be nice' if you are not in a female single sex space?

Please do not use that as validation that people don't correctly identify your sex category and that female people are not recognising a male person when they see you. That would be a very significant misjudgement on your behalf.

Taztoy · 19/01/2026 18:00

FlirtsWithRhinos · 19/01/2026 17:57

I suspect you would be very hard pressed to find a female person who has not experienced misogynist harassment in the last 4 years.

I just got raped and sexually assaulted. Does that count?

ffs. Like.

Exactly, @AllThisFuss

Especially when a supposedly educated person like David Lammy thinks that a man taking artificial, cross-sex hormones, can "grow a cervix." When people in high office & with some authority say such stupid things, is it any wonder people get confused?

India Willoughby thinks that he's got a womb, I gather ...

I think it was an offer to flash his cervix on national TV?
Or has he made additional claims?

You say women can always identify sex, so in over 4 years I would’ve expected someone to slip up when referring to me at some point. I think you’ve severely overestimated the number of people making a conscious effort to correct gender trans people. It’s not exactly the same, but I’ve worked with a person that uses they/them pronouns so I know how hard it is to force yourself to say something opposite to what you see.

I like to think he keeps his cervix in a jar by the door like the face Eleanor Rigby wears. I do wonder where he got it from.

Taztoy · 19/01/2026 18:14

There’s one thing happening here.

and i don’t think it’s quite going the way you want it to @ThatOpalTurtle

the more you double down the more your male privilege and socialisation is showing.

I believe you think you can identify every trans woman. Have you considered that you believe this because you only see the non-passing trans women? I’ve seen plenty of threads play out here where everyone agrees someone is trans and then later discovers the person is female.

Mate, just stop forcing yourself on non consenting women, so they either have to submit to putting your ego in front of their own needs and lives, or be excluded by you.

This is not difficult.

Enjoy yourself all you like in the mixed sex spaces with the consenting ones. The cool ones who 'don't know' and don't mind. They're fine. At least until they have an experience that means they then need single sex spaces for access too.

Women are as equally human as you. They have rights too. You don't get to use them whatever excuses you come up with.

I worked on a project with a TW who did not remotely pass. I took great care to use his given female name when I talked to him and about him

di not mistake our politeness and frankly fear of losing our jobs with "passing"

I mean honestly what do you expect? Women to come up to you and say "you're a man man manly man"? We're already scared because you're in our spaces and hyper vigilant because of it

and anyone socialised as a woman would know this

And you still haven't given any examples of passing transwomen in the public eye

Oh, they know.

TWETMIRF · 19/01/2026 18:24

Do you believe there are any prominent transwomen that pass? If they are known as trans then it won't cause problems outing them.

I mean this genuinely, if you look at them and believe they couldn't be clocked as male then it would be interesting to compare that to how we as women see them.

Not at all.

I know younger trans identifying males who think they pass.

they don’t.

even when shown pictures (in the past on here) of individuals who the person thought passed, there was something “off” to me and that is even clearer in RL.

My life depends on identifying men accurately and efficiently.

I believe there was a thread about a Spanish midwife working in trans-affirmative care that posters assumed was trans based on her appearance. It turned out she wasn’t trans and the backtracking started.

You’ve come to the conclusion you can always tell though selection bias. You assumed all trans women don’t pass because you only see the non-passing trans women.

You’re wrong.

and even if I am.

you don’t have the right to enter women’s single sex spaces.

you clearly don’t care about the law.

you have zero empathy.

you will stealth. Which is illegal in other areas of law.

and you clearly don’t care about consent violations.

all of the above makes you problematic. Can’t you see that?

That's not the same as thinking someone is not trans when they are though, is it?

There's an episode of Number 9 where the plot twist hinges on the "woman" being male. I had no idea until the big reveal, but then it was really obvious.

So obvious that I checked the actor.

Turns out there were two. An actual women played the part up until the reveal, then a transwoman actor after.

Seems odd, don't you think, not to cast a passing transwomen to play both parts? I mean, surely if there are so many TW who pass so well, and an actor to boot, someone whose literal job is to make you believe, through speech and posture and movement, in their character, and with all the advantages of TV lighting and staging, it would have been possible to find a transwoman capable of passing as a woman convincingly enough to carry the plot? I wonder why they didn't.

Ahh... no.

If you present yourself to someone serving you in a store or bar, particularly if you wear either fake breasts or have taken oestrogen to develop male breast tissue (and yes, male breasts are different to female breasts). They are quite likely to recognise that you are presenting as a 'female' and risk a negative reaction if they gett it wrong.

We have all been through the training, or didn't you think about that? Yes, it is hard. But if your job fucking depends on you making sure you don't get a person upset, then you do it.

Have you also thought that maybe you also fail to read body language well.

Sorry, do you honestly not see the situation that a group of aggressive activists in 'consulting positions' have created over the past 10 years?

In education, in retail, in service industries? Not only that, most parents with children that are young adults down will have started to come across these situations and be on high alert. Perhaps you live in an area that has lots of this training happening.

I think you actually come across as desperately wanting what you believe to be true to be true.
