I couldn’t see a thread here for this.

It’s already at over 30k signatures. Aim is to get it to 100k.

It's being discussed on the Sandie Peggie thread - have put a signpost to this thread over there.

Over 33,000 now.

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 09/01/2026 23:12

There is also a thread on the petitions board. Good to see its doing so well

fromorbit · 10/01/2026 08:34

Now at 37,054 signatures.

After 2 days it is no 20 out of all the Open petitions (1,812). That is very quick.

Going to make it to 100,000 which will have political impact.

Igmum · 10/01/2026 08:37

Thanks Leaf. I’ve signed and here’s hoping we can prevent these children being sterilised

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 10/01/2026 08:40

Totally as an aside: does anyone else wish they could see who the other signatories in their constituency are? I would love to meet the 50-odd others who agree with me.

borntobequiet · 10/01/2026 08:49

I can easily guess a few of the 82 in mine! But yes, would love to meet the others.

Igneococcus · 10/01/2026 08:55

Look at us Argyll&Butians go :)
When I signed yesterday evening it was just under 24K

It’s delightful, isn’t it? I periodically click over and get great joy out of watching the numbers suddenly bounce up - it seems to be gaining about 100 signatures every 5 mins or so.

It's great :)
I want to know why Upper Bann (I didn't even know there was an Upper Bann until now) and Great Yarmouth are so far ahead of everywhere else.

Great Yarmouth is Rupert Lowe MP - he has been very vocal about his opposition to this trial. I think he was one of the original signatories to Rosie Duffield’s letter to Kier.

I just timed it over 3 minutes. It's gaining almost 48 signatures per minute, which works out as 2860 per hour!

Obviously Saturday morning is peak time and it will slow down but yes, it's marvellous to watch.

Heggettypeg · 10/01/2026 09:46

Up to 39160 just now.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 10/01/2026 10:12

40,000+ now!

ETA it’s speeding up!

Leafstamp · 10/01/2026 10:14

Musk reposted it overnight. Whatever thoughts are on him personally that will have boosted its profile to the tune of his 231 million followers! Admittedly you need to be in the UK to sign, but still.

Is your name kept private in govt petitions? There's no "hide my signature" option?

Not because I am in any way ashamed of believing that gay and neuro diverse children deserve to go through a normal puberty in order to develop fully functional brains and bodies, but because the creeps that want to create a permanent supply of pre pubescent adults are still too powerful.

Names aren’t visible at all AFAIK.

ProfessorBinturong · 10/01/2026 14:15

It might be possible for the administrators and petitions committee to see them (although as far as I know that's not done routinely), but names are not published anywhere publicly so it is effectively anonymous.

ProfessorBinturong · 10/01/2026 14:17

Strong showing from the Western Isles. Unsurpringly, Islington is rather pale.

Wackdemmoles · 10/01/2026 15:34

The link has been shared in the Times on line BTL also

If this is the only reason why that constituency has made such a strong showing - I presume because Rupert Lowe is willing/eager to talk about the issue in the local papers, so that there is that much more media coverage than the well, nothing, everywhere else - then the rest of the country would be signing at the same rate given a more level media playing field. So frustrating, and so typical. Have the BBC managed their usual Trans item today? Should just rechristen it "Drag Queen Story Time" and have done..

I don’t disagree. There’s probably a bit of a feedback loop too - the sort of people who will have voted for him will possibly be the sort of people who will have strong opinions about this, iyswim.
