Glinner Bullseye comment on X

Thatcatsaflippingnightmare · 09/01/2026 20:41

Always trying to explain Glinner to DH, today he showed me on X JD Vance defending murder of the woman by ICE. Glinner had replied something like 'bullseye', as in agreement. I tried to comprehend with "satire?" but he said no he's on Liz truss show these days. I said well he's always been about protecting women and children, he's not suddenly supporting femicide, but the post convinced DH otherwise. Any insights? I'm not on social media

Quite. The US homicide rate is roughly five times higher than that of the U.K. So much for law and order.

We're not here to debate the 2nd Amendment, the right of citizens to bear arms.
The point is that interfering with Federal law enforcement agents is a crime, trying to flee when they tell you to get out of your car is a crime. Using your car to flee and hitting the officer, who'd been previously hit and wounded with a car is vehicular homicide, and he's in fear for his life he uses a kill shot.

Look at Washington DC; murder is down due to the National Guard who are armed. This woman isn't regarded as a martyr rather a foolish person who unfortunately fecked around and found out. The majority, regular people want ICE to ship out illegal immigrants especially after discovery of the billions in fraud by illegal and legal immigrants.

What survey are you basing your opinion on?
How many participants were surveyed?
What State?

How are law enforcement officers to know which people have a gun and which do not in any live situation? Answer: They don't so they proceed on the assumption the other person could be armed. If they don't do this they could end up dead themselves.

It's strange that you are capable of typing rubbish on Mumsnet but incapable of doing a simple Google search. You are negligently (if not deliberately) spreading misinformation. Yes, in my view far too many Americans own guns. But they are in the minority of adults in the US.

What Percentage of Americans Own Guns?

Read Gallup's short answer to this common question about gun ownership, including what percentages of major demographic subgroups own guns.

Your assuming the ICE agent was a man.

This remark could have been meant in any of several different ways, and to be honest I've lost track of who holds which views on this thread now so I can't be bothered to work it out. So I'll assume it's a (pretty good and well timed) joke: well done.

Where is all this Dark Money from Evangelical Christians then? When Yaxley Lennon held his Unite the Kingdom match he got 100k people attending. But his prayer meeting event attracted three men and a dog. If KJK and Glinner have veered to the right I doubt Jesus has anything to do with it. Likewise I don't believe Yaxley Lennon has had a conversion experience on the road to Benidorm or wherever he lives.

Most Brits despise the Evangelical movement in the USA. I suppose that's why the TRAs keep waving the shroud , the old guilt by association trick. But it fails because there is simply no read across between British and Irish feminists and hellfire preachers in the America.

KJK tweets plenty of ‘Christians are being persecuted’ content nowadays.

I've always wondered that. Albeit mostly on TV. Why isn't it the arm, leg, tyre.

I think it's because there's no 'safe' way to shoot someone. If they've decided to fire at someone they've already decided to use lethal force. Centre mass is what they're trained to go for, I believe. More chance of the bullet hitting and doing its job of disabling the 'target'. Less chance of a miss, leaving the 'target' able to retaliate, escape or create further mayhem. Also reduces the chance of the bullet straying and harming others. I think that's how some of the people in the recent attack on a Manchester synagogue were killed, by stray Police bullets or Police bullets that hit the terrorist and carried on.

Of course this all presupposes that the initial decision to use lethal force was a good one.

If he'd shot at the tyres, the car could still be driven on flats, its momentum alone would keep it going as it did even after Renee was shot.

I don't understand why some folk who are right wing whose range of beliefs overlap loosely with GC make other 'formerly GC'Hmm suddenly believe men can be women and can definitely get naked in the ladies, kids 'take all the blockers you want', 'the surgeon will sterilise see you now'. However, all the crap, a mirror image but with a heaping of being on the wrong side of science and reason, of the GI side, they're fine with aligning themselves with that!?

WhatterySquash · 10/01/2026 12:18

Aside from the details of this case, I think Glinner shows fairly regularly that he is a bit of a loose cannon, can be a dick and is not very noble-minded, and probably has a fair bit of misogyny going on like many men (especially those who consider themselves feminists or saviours of women). He’s on the right side of the trans debate IMO and he has been brave to stand up publicly on it, but he’s not someone I’d want to be associated with or celebrate. One reason I’m not a joiner and rarely get involved with the GC “movement” - I don’t want to be expected to defend the actions of big-name GCs when they do things I don’t like.

I think it’s important not to attack, smear or harass trans-IDing people in this debate, partly because of the high levels of MH problems, autism and homosexuality involved, partly because many will detransition and should be able to feel understood and welcomed, partly because I don’t think lowering yourself to sneering and abuse helps to win the argument. The GC side has the stats, logic and reality to back up its arguments - getting personal is what the side with no argument does. I also have no truck with an omnicause approach and taking sides on other arguments because they supposedly align with GC.

Tadpolesinponds · 10/01/2026 12:18

According to a gun-related website (I don't know how accurate they are) gun ownership is exceptionally low in England and Wales, with fewer than 5 registered firearms per 100 people. Apparently in France and Germany it's almost 20 registered firearms per 100 people.

What Percentage of Americans Own Guns?

That's a survey of just over 1000 adults - a drop in the ocean.

This doesn't change the reality that 29 states out of 50 do not even require a gun licence, so there really is no way of knowing how many individuals or households have a gun.

What we do know is that death by gunshot is the number one cause of death in the USA and that there is a climate of fear due to the pervasiveness of guns there which thankfully we do not have in Europe.

i didn’t say anything about the second amendment - your powers of comprehension don’t seem to be very advanced. A pity, really, as you apparently believe that foolish people deserve to be shot three times in the head. I’d be very careful around armed officers if I were you.

I also think the thing with the previous party being in charge, particularly in states that are 'progressive' the police have lost total control so nobody expects the authorities to actually take up arms when confronted. We've all seen unbelieveable scenes in the past of TRAs and their behaviour and the authorities just stand there.

This is because France still has an active farming community that use firearms to control the wild animals that are here that surround the farmlands. We see the chaisse every weekend in the season, and last year had them 20 ft from our garden, with shotguns and dogs, in the woods and the farm behind us.

I am very willing to agree that you can't make a judgement based on something you saw on the internet, and that there may be mitigating circumstances. Nobody on this thread knows exactly what happened.

However, in a civilised country the next step is to try to calm the situation, and start a non partisan investigation, not to take a side in a debate about videos circulated on the internet and smear the victim. Unfortunately the goal of Trump et al is not civilised government.

What fantasyland are you living in?
The same thing would happen with any US president.
There were 3.1 million ICE deportations during Obama's presidencies.
He was nicknamed "Deporter-in-chief".

My post was about Trump's response to the shooting, not the shooting itself, or immigration policy.

I can't think of a US president in the last 50 years who would not have tried to calm the situation.

I didn't mention 'any incident in the UK that required somebody to be shot' but was talking about the inability of the USA authorities to literally even turn up and letting the likes of 'antifa' who seem to literally be 'fa' run riot. And have done for years.
