Spotted on the Guardian today:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2025/nov/28/sugababes-sophie-ellis-bextor-wolf-alice-and-more-to-play-all-star-charity-concert-for-trans-rights

Raising money for the kimono-clad fox-killer's "Good" Law Project.

Definitely one to avoid!

Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Wolf Alice and more to play all-star charity concert for trans rights

Organised by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla festival to ‘fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion’, Trans Mission will take place at Wembley Arena in March

I've just had a look at who wrote that advert thinly disguised as an article in the guardian and I'm not surprised. No mention of Jolyon though.
Sad times

The Metro had a puff piece for the event this week. Some beardy they/them singer I'd never heard of claimed as a marginalised person his rights were directly linked to refugees and Palestinians.

Pop stars used to be dickheads in more entertaining ways.

Where's the laughing emoji when you need it? Hilarious!

HildegardP · 06/03/2026 19:37

Were they bought or were they guest list? As well as tickets for the promoter to use you often have to be fairly generous to the turns when asking them to play for free & likely the GLP want to allocate tickets to their "allies" & fellow activists - the original budget will almost certainly have included videography & always it helps the reels to have a few slebs gurning & slapping their palms together in the audience. Our local arena drapes off large unsold areas, whether to give the impression of a better crowd or to reduce echo IDK but were I the venue manager for this shindig, I'd be checking that drapes & crew to hang them were available.

Since when did the Graun start straight-out lying?

Years and years ago when it comes to trans.

MowingMachine · 06/03/2026 20:12

I just looked up all the major performing artists on Instagram. None of them are promoting it. Even people like Bimini, not just the big ones.

I reckon they'll say their bus was cancelled due to rain, or something.

Guardian comparing it to Live Aid with a straight face.

“Anti-trans activists, who had begun by focusing on women’s sports and women’s prisons, escalated to restricting trans healthcare and excluding trans people from all single-sex spaces.”

Don’t make us tap the sign, Graun.

Dorian Lynskey used to be a fine journalist, but he’s now gone completely tonto. Has trans child, I believe.

Ah. That would definitely explain a few things - & go some way to explaining Ian Dunt's willful obtusity too.

I used to have respect for Ian Dunt for his commentary during the Brexit debate.

Now I just think he’s a misogynistic twat with no respect or empathy for women.

There's almost always a trans child.

Again, I find that a bit odd.

Bearing in mind that their target audience is the sort of person who thinks leaving the house is some sort of existential threat to their safety, this is hardly surprising.

Well I'll be drying mine. Sad times.

They'll claim the fact KJK is going to be there makes it unsafe and uncomfortable and get her man handled down the stairs again

What sort of crowd would these kind of artists usually attract, like who would go see them if that weren't a "charity" gig or activism? I've got no interest in any of them with the possible exception of Wolf Alice but neither does my 21 year old student daughter (she went to see CMAT at Edi yesterday) or my 18 year old son.

TheDaysAreGettingLongerAtLast · 07/03/2026 09:28

This whole thing is about privileges not rights.

Privileges for men with a woman fetish - often brought on by porn who are also often predatory men who invade women only spaces.

Privileges for young middle-class women who want to cosplay being a boy or who are just dedicated followers of fashion pretending to be civil-rights campaigners.

Yes agree. Unless you treat it's as a sort of expensive pride and the purpose of going is to make it look successful I'm not sure how the line up or format would be any sort of a draw for spending money and time.

She is bloody tiresome but Tilted is one of my all time favourite songs.

I am very gender critical but have to admit i absolutely love 'full of life' by Christine and the Queens (the one from the amazon advert where the girl buys lots of plants)

Maybe she doesnt want to take hormones as she doesnt want to ruin her singing voice which is absolutely exceptional

I imagine ideal target audience is people like our DC (late teens, early 20s, def not “mainstream” types, some uni educated etc). Sadly for the grifters, my DCs are all gender critical and wouldn’t go to this even if it were free. The tide is definitely turning, anecdata I know but also amongst their friends. The toilets are a big issue for them.

PS I love Wolf Alice too and one of my DCs has also just seen CMAT (I managed to embarrass both of us by accidentally referring to her as MCAT )

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 07/03/2026 12:27

Just remembered too, I couldn’t go to a Wolf Alice concert so DD bought me a T shirt there as a present and complained they were all unisex fit so effectively designed for men Hmm. (I think it was Wolf Alice but not 100% sure).

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/03/2026 13:03

I can't help wondering if they will even cover their costs / be able to pay performers? I'm waiting for the documentary on Netflix Grin

I've yet to see any "unisex" clothing that is based around women's shapes and sizes, with men just expected to wear an XL size in a shape that doesn't fit!

Lalgarh · 07/03/2026 13:15

Thingy from Christine and the Queens was calling himself Redcar for a while, and went from they/ them to he /him within the space of about 18 months. Are he back to she / her? I feel like pronouns should be announced in a Times Court Circular.

I'm assuming newly Sapiosexual Jameela Jamil is signed up out of queer solidarity

https://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/jameela-jamil-sapiosexual-b1273481.html

Jameela Jamil opens up about identifying as ‘sapiosexual’

The Good Place star has spoken candidly about the way attraction manifests for her

moto748e · 07/03/2026 13:29

I'm not opening that link. I fear more brain seepage out of my ears.

StupidHappyClocks · 07/03/2026 13:41

Not Jameela again!

I feel like I know more about her ‘identity’ than any other self obsessed, navel gazing attention seeker celeb out there.

Give it a rest, love.

lcakethereforeIam · 07/03/2026 13:49

I did wonder if Wolf Alice are playing an acoustic set to keep their costs down.
