Catching up with this. Interesting on page 40 of previous thread, the email sent by one Niall Donnelly.
Surely not the one and only Sinn Féin's Niall O'Donaighle who had to resign from the Seanad? Lots of cover up and unanswered questions around his behaviour.

Yuk.

It's just a common enough name that I could believe there'd be another in these circles, having said that.

ProfPerfectlySoftButter · 19/11/2025 14:34

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 19/11/2025 14:30

To me the 'hope this helps' e-mail has clearly been solicited by the recipient

Does it show that the people leading the investigation were actively soliciting the right sort of complaint from others outside the organization?

I think that was possibly one of the most helpful pieces of evidence, but for all the wrong reasons!

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 19/11/2025 14:40

ProfPerfectlySoftButter · 19/11/2025 14:34

I think that was possibly one of the most helpful pieces of evidence, but for all the wrong reasons!

If it was ignored by the internal investigation - does this further reinforce the solicited narrative.

i.e. - oh no, the idiot witness has made it clear that we've asked him to provide evidence that helps us get the outcome we want, better not include that in the complaint

Largesso · 19/11/2025 14:41

I also think it noticeable that in xe SD did not take SM to this complaint. He did use the story about the nail bar/ art exhibition to accuse SM of hideous transphobia so why, given that was a clear aim of his questioning, did he not xe about this — it must be because he had been told by BFF to treat it as unreliable.

They were hoping the complaints would be seen as one entity justifying their actions and did not expect them to be used this way.

I also love, in addition to not affording him the BIG I AM status LM clearly expects by having CE do questioning, that they didn’t Spens very much time with him, treating him as a side issue and not the BIG MAN.

ProfPerfectlySoftButter · 19/11/2025 14:49

What happens next? Do we get oral submissions (on Friday) or is it just written?

Good question, ColadhSamh!
As far as I can see, Niall Ó Donnghaile, who is an Irish speaker, never uses the anglicised form of his name.
Unless of course someone was trying to hide the fact that the Niall Donnelly mentioned in evidence is Niall Ó Donnghaile [who resigned from SF after sending 'inappropriate messages' to a teenager].

edited to say he was suspended from the party - I can't remember what other actions were taken against him or what positions he resigned from, sorry.

A few things I need to get off my chest

SD calls Moyra Lock (ML)
[she is affirmed]
I just imagined someone solemnly saying to her 'you are a woman'.

Lisa Barros D'Sa* *- love her name. I don't know how people stop themselves making jazz hands after saying it.👐

To me Nick Wallis looks faintly like David Bowie in the picture of him that keeps coming up with the links to his blog. I always read his initials as north-west.

Feel unburdened.

written submissions in by 9am Friday, oral submissions on each others statements and overarching comments and answers to panel q's at 11.30am Friday

SD calls Moyra Lock (ML)
[she is affirmed]

SD takes her through her WS and she confirms it is hers, her signature a "true and accurate account of your evidence"
ML yes
Dr Charlotte Elves (CE) is xe-ing ML
CE can we go to par 1 of your WS - says you have responsibility for pay
ML yes
CE including administering sick pay

ML yes
CE and you say you were instructed verbally by MD to put SM on Stat Sick Pay (SSP)
ML yes
CE when did you receive that instruction
ML "I don't recall that exact date but it's going to be before the 25 July"
CE so you received the instruction before she went sick

There's a bit more to this. Remind me to come back to it once I've been through my notes.

No, it was 2 = many.

No, 2 is 2. Three is many, but also very few.

In similar vein, I keep thinking that TP is the Thought Police.
Phew.

DrRevProfCriticalConditionETC · 19/11/2025 15:18

I've very glad they didn't abbreviate Lisa Barros D'Sa to LBD. I've struggled enough with TP which is Third Party in my head.

[raises MD's appearance in an election video for Sinn Fein with permission the BFF's board]
CE the CEO of BFF could reasonably be expected alienate unionists
LM I don't think so
CE she was given permission because MD had the right sort of opinions for the BFF
LM no if SM wanted to endorse the greens or unions she could - people disagree and work together "it's what it's like here"
CE let me give you a hypothetical - say SM wanted to appear at a rally for Amnesty International - it campaigns on human rights abuses and reproductive rights - if SM did that and she criticised human rights situation
"any complaint that the board would get would be investigated"
CE that's just not credible
LM you're calling into question the credibility of the board... if the board gets a complaint it will investigated
CE whether it's credible or incredible
LM the board would have to see whether it warrants pursuing and how to pursue it
CE what shocked you about SMs speech was her vilification of the women's sector
LM yes
CE and you say something similar later on about her criticsm of the women's sector -
LM I said she was entitled to her views
CE you don't mention transgender people, trans rights or gender identity or sex realist beliefs of the LGBT community at all
LM no
CE so you're giving the impression the problem that you have is ONLY about what SM said about women's sector
LM "yes and being on the platform in the first place"

Note for themuns over there:

CE she was given permission because MD had the right sort of opinions for the BFF
LM no if SM wanted to endorse the greens or unions she could - people disagree and work together

CE said 'right sort of political opinions'. SF, Greens and unions are all left wing, and the Irish Green party is an all-Ireland partly like SF; hardly contrasting areas of politics with significant disagreements.

'TP' reminds me of working with Americans, who used the letters instead of saying 'toilet paper'.

I’ve been calling her Little Black Dress as I couldn’t remember her name. I kept confusing MTM with MGM and wondering what films they were putting on the bigly screen.

Can I just say the butter/breastmilk/sci-fi penis extender thing Venn diagram thought has had me smiling since I read it. I could’ve done without seeing the image but thanks to whoever posted it. 🤢

As kids we used to say 'One, two, three, lots and lots'. I've always liked that.

Lunde · 19/11/2025 15:31

The big Sein Fein man gets rather arsey when the wimmin start pushing him to answer the contradictions in his evidence

SM speaking in favour of freedom of speech for women = bias
MD publicly supporting Sein Fein candidates = not bias

SM "entitled to her views" (according to LM in xe) = not bias?
But according to LM stating them publicly on a platform he disagrees with = bias

CE - no complaints from women's' groups = not bias
LM - I might have read some on social media ... anyway Belfast small... women's sector small... LGBT small... it's broader... I was worried about what she might have said about trans.... anyway it's the context... = bias

CE - but were you encroaching on her protected belief?
LM - I've heard a lot of theories ... "I'm not going down this road"

As an aside, I wonder if Fake Professor Boyd is listed for being a Panel member over the coming months? Or will she be allowed to Carry On Conning?

ProfessorBinturong · 19/11/2025 15:39

ProfessorBoiledbeetle · 19/11/2025 14:15

Well that was quick!

LM I'm not going down this road

Hmmmmm.

This immediately followed an extended huffing, not captured by NW, about hypotheticals. He was objecting to the 'if', rather than necessarily anticipating the direction of the Q.

Interesting that the UU hasn't felt moved to decry her

And the Tribunals service doesn't feel a need to clarify their plan of action

Lunde · 19/11/2025 15:42

I thought it was a stroke of genius to get CE to do the xe

LM was obviously all wired up for a blunt head to head confrontation with NC and I think he had prepared for this. It was probably also a blow to his ego that his examination was by the "junior"
