lens-based artists

Is that what us plebs would call 'photographers', and is it compulsory to use pretentious twaddle-speak when it’s Art you’re trying to pretend you’re doing?

NoBinturongsHereMate · 19/11/2025 09:03

Bother. Forgot my charger. Updates will have to wait until I'm back home today.

I think so!

Thanks @sexrealistic

I feel like I haven't got the same clarity re proceedings at the moment but it really highlights the need for better open justice methods. It is a ridiculously homespun way of getting info out and we are all at a loss for not being able to see the documents or witness statements etc. (Like in Darlington where nothing was read out.) And NW is going brilliantly but doesn't provide a key for abbreviations for example.

As 'scifititpump' could you explain this for me as I can't quite get it:

Where was the picture? Why was it there? Who is the artist?

So the photo was banned from Nicks Twitter as porn.

Link up thread and we can see if Mumsnet will upload it here as it is evidence in a tribunal

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 19/11/2025 09:10

Ah. So identified by Twitter as porn.

But formed the part of an exhibition.

Which the witness walked past regularly.

And never noticed.

Right.

SexRealistic · 19/11/2025 09:12

As well as being milked fetishisarion of being pregnant with the child who will suckle from your fake breasts.

All no doubt funded by public money.

Who is funding sex realists?

The gallery that Michele walked up and down each working day for six weeks but didn’t notice the art or porn photos

I’m not convinced that art should be “challenging”, especially when it demonstrates just how deluded the artist is in thinking his or her ideas original, sophisticated or clever when in fact they’re juvenile, poorly informed and depressingly conventional.

Edited

It's all a bit dull and adoloscent and yes, really conventional. About as interesting as someone shouting "Bum" in a cathedral. Look at me, I am so queer and transgressive, nope, just quite boring.

Milk me like a cow. 🐄

Have some freshly churned butter. 🧈

A butter curler.

Mumsnet Venn Diagram complete for today

Jesus fucking H Christ.

Sci Fi Tit Pump. I just had to explain this to my OH.

Oh...I've not looked at any pics but I'm guessing it was a bull semen extractor wasn't it? It was wasn't it? It's got to be.

SexRealistic · 19/11/2025 09:20

Let’s see if Mumsnet will allow it

People find it hard to trust me.

Also let me fondle your hand with cream with a big photo of me milking myself next to photos of cows. 🐄

Wonder why?

Somdone I know used to have access to some Victorian prison records, in them was a bloke up on a charge for something like gross indecency because he had made his maid take off all her clothes and milk a cow.

This post is made in the "you think you're being daring but the Victorians got there first" dept.

I get so bored with art that insists one engages with a narrative, it usually means it's a bit crap as art and won't stand up on its own. Just bugger off and let me engage with it on my own terms.

CriticalCondition · 19/11/2025 09:27

I knew I shouldn't have opened that photo.

ProfessorVegemiteandhoneyontoast · 19/11/2025 09:35

I clicked on the link but thankfully the picture was hidden by the 'Sign into Instagram' box.

PerformativeBewilderment · 19/11/2025 09:38

I was really enjoying the butter chat until @SexRealistic’s Venn diagram brought it all together.

@ProfessorVegemiteandhoneyontoast your Special System for butter is obviously a result of your academic specialism. Of course, the post explaining it counts as publication, so have a PhD in time for the new thread!

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 19/11/2025 08:27

I think art can be challenging (am not persuaded that this art was not just provocative) but I don’t think challenging art should be forced on unconsenting viewers. In a gallery that you can choose to enter or not? Fine. In the foyer of a workplace that dozens of people have to walk through on a daily basis? No. It shouldn’t be a condition of me getting to my work place that I have to view fetishistic art.

And yes this!
I do know of some artists who engage in transgressive behaviour in the name of art, and I can't go too far due to outing potential. I know of them because I know people who have worked with them on other kinds of art (at which they are actually very good) and who knows a bit about their other stuff but actually doesn't want to know too much about it or tell me.
But you'll never know about it, it'll never be plastered on foyer walls or anywhere near children, it's a private consensual thing and kept that way.

And of course, they don't have to grift it out and flaunt it around because they have the skills to make other art that they get paid for, because they put the sodding work in.

Nofuckingziti · 19/11/2025 09:42

I’ve found some interesting stuff on Caleb. Won’t post anything due to above concerns, but will be interested to see if the complaint is mentioned again.

CriticalCondition · 19/11/2025 09:44

It takes forcing women to engage in your fetish to a whole new level. How many women got their nails done but didn't quite realise what those hands had been doing.

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 19/11/2025 09:45

I have looked, not pleasant (thanks)

I am not sure the picture is of a milking device, to me it looks as though it is designed to enhance breast moob size in a manner similar to an Austin Powers style penis pump.

(Off to boots to look for eye bleach)

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/11/2025 09:47

@SexRealistic surely it should be ProfessorSciFiTitPump

Scout2016 · 19/11/2025 09:48

Thank you but I wish I hadn't looked. I looked at more of this photographer's site too, seems it was a whole project with Sarah about "her new femininity" and as a result I have also seen Sarah sat on the stairs in his underwear.

What are these artists thinking? Do they really think this is edgy and cool and not just tired and offensive? Nan Goldin did this topic more than 30 years ago and far better. I'm sure others have too.

If these photos were of a woman they would have got nowhere. Just Spinal Tap Smell The Glove levels of shit.

MyThreeWords · 19/11/2025 09:49

The sci-fi tit pump made me think of the 'gynaecological instruments for operating on mutant women' that feature in the film Dead Ringers (the original Jeremy Irons version, not the crappy remakes). That film was so good on the enthralled hatred that some men have for women's bodies, simultaneously craving them and disgusted by them; seeking to master and symbolically destroy them

DustyWindowsills · 19/11/2025 09:50

Bleagghhh I just found the photo too. Wish I hadn't.

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/11/2025 09:52

And NW only managed to post the photo on Twitter because he covered up the offensive part
