MC, in his 'OMG, this is really serious!' email said he'd just watched it.

I have a 1930s butter curler, but can't eat butter so have very little use for it.

M-TMcG's determination to know absolutely nothing about anything was really quite impressive, in its way.

Thank goodness. Someone else on FWR who doesn't eat butter.

I can't bear it. A chip butty, for example, would have to be just bread/chips/salt/bread.

The descriptions of people's snacks on here have been quite distressing.

...but can't eat butter

I can't imagine such horror.

I am sorry for my gratuitous butter use.

Even the butter is distressed.

When my knees were unwell I made the discovery that getting up from near the ground was much easier if I turned round & pushed myself up (backwards) with my hands.

Elephant Oops GIF

I roll off it onto hands and knees then pull myself up on any nearby object.

Obviously I am a vision of grace and beauty whilst doing so.

I just want to say that in tropical North Queensland, butter stays in the fridge always, or it turns into liquid. Bread needs to be kept in the freezer, or it won’t last more than half a day without growing mould.

And, gird your loins, red wine is also kept in the fridge.

So between life & obligations I haven’t had a moment to sift through my thoughts from today but let’s try:

  1. I ❤️ Nick Wallis but also bring back Tribunal Tweets. He skips over the usual tussling between Counsel and Judge. Today it was so good & actually was a key point. He’d not tweeted the actual original points around list of issues last week which would have sorted it out quick smart. He is fab on everything else but we can give him a needs improvement rating on procedure. But @Justabaker let’s push harder for NI or elsewhere because your work is so so vital.
  2. Michele Devlin is something else entirely. Between I was really really busy, I had three jobs, I had to do IT, it was hard to keep a straight face. When she said that Sara is a nasty transphobe and called someone ‘it’ it was shocking but Naomi pointed out she was too busy to investigate actual conduct that Ithey could sack her for. The ‘it’ comment was never pleaded, wasn’t raised in any of the investigation papers, wasn’t mentioned to Sara, wasn’t mentioned to board, no note of it. In fact it was like it had never happened.
  3. Naomi in a small ET in a wee office block saying things like ‘It’s is true isn’t it that some men who think they are women have a fetish of wanting their breasts to be milked like a cow, and in this case the large glass bell jars attached to the pump are rather sci fi aren’t they? Im sure that after looking at the photo and hearing Naomi talk about fetishes, Micheal McKeown wishes the Judge had recused him.
  4. Sean Doherty isn’t one bit impressed with proceedings. It has been long and while he is all for Letting Women Speak, in this case he would clearly prefer if Michele kept to yes or no answers.
  5. Naomi a few times through sheer exasperation or perhaps mad skills sat in silence when Michele finished her answer. In Michele’s anxiety she kept talking and it kept getting worse. I was second hand embarrassed!
  6. SciFiTitPump is my next username!

Thanks @sexrealistic

I feel like I haven't got the same clarity re proceedings at the moment but it really highlights the need for better open justice methods. It is a ridiculously homespun way of getting info out and we are all at a loss for not being able to see the documents or witness statements etc. (Like in Darlington where nothing was read out.) And NW is going brilliantly but doesn't provide a key for abbreviations for example.

As 'scifititpump' could you explain this for me as I can't quite get it:

Where was the picture? Why was it there? Who is the artist?

Shedmistress · 19/11/2025 07:06

Congrats Weegy

When I started pottery a butter keeper was one of the first things I made, I made up a pattern on the computer thingy and took it with me and had to explain what it was I was making and then loads of the others decided to make one too. Indeed, some made them and sent them off to their relatives around the globe for last year's Christmas presents.

I really need to make a few more, maybe that will be my festive season plan.

Lets hope the Cloudflare shenanegans are done and dusted for a wee while. I couldn't cope.

SexRealistic · 19/11/2025 07:07

So there is a fair bit of legal wrangling over the list of issues and pleaded case.

Last Tuesday Naomi sought to raise a matter before the Tribunal which was to say that the claimants pleased case was that the ‘email of 3rd July sent by Michele Devlin to the long list of third parties was in fact an act of harassment’. Sean said that as Sara had already given evidence, that in sending the email Michele was being supportive, why would they plead a case contrary? Naomi’s view was that Sara couldn’t have known what was in the respondents mind at the time.

Naomi said that Charlotte had checked and they were content it was properly pleaded in (maybe the 2nd) ET1 form.

It did however need to be added to the list of issues. Queue lots of discussion around this. The Judge said they had a wide latitude to decide matters to take into account and would consider the point, Naomi was clear that if it wasn’t accepted she could make that case to the matter in issue then she would make an application to amend. Seemed to be settled - add to list of issues, no need to amend, on we go.

Yesterday then mid morning there was some debate where Sean suggests he didn’t consent to this being accepted as an issue. There was back and forth on this - and Naomi pointed out her entire case was built on the 3rd July email was not a supportive and co-collaboration with Sara, but rather an email about a made up event, with the cc to 44 addresses being stuffed to the gills with Sara haters by Michele designed to provoke a reaction.

The Judge checked her notes and would check further but she agreed it was something she expected the Tribunal to draw a conclusion on. Naomi said it followed that if it wasn’t in the case she’d make an amendment to change pleadings. It didn’t follow that they agreed the matter couldn’t be spoken to if Naomi had then spend a week building her case. Judge checked and it was in list of issues. They came back to it later to confirm if there was an issue or would be delat with in submissions. It wasn’t obvious last week what point Naomi was making - but was totally clear yesterday.

Mark Cousins, charismatic board member of ~20 years sends an email on 28 June saying something must be done.

Michele asks for a LGBT list form Sara on 29 June. She chases it.

  • Michele’s case has been we worked on this together. It was her and Sara’s work. She just pressed send.
  • In fact Sara not sending the email was refusal to do her job.
  • Michele cooked up PRIDE ON THE BIG SCREEN. (I’ve now seen evidence that it was BIGLY).
  • What became really clear in evidence is that Sara provided a much shorter list of LGBT organisations. And added some more but say 14 organisations. So she was expecting that to go. She goes home.
  • After hours at 5.50pm - *Michelle starts adding in lots of random personal email addresses, women’s groups, rape support groups, specific women’s groups Sara called out in her LWS group. She thinks let’s get Sara’s name in front of LGBTQ groups + women’s rights organisation she called out in her speech. She’d stuffed the email cc with circa 44 recipients.
  • Naomi asked her in evidence about what X group or Y group. Michele suddenly changed all her evidence. It was now for a family day and everyone welcome. Naomi said who is E O’Neil and Michele said oh shes gay, And the WINI, I assume Women’s Institute NI, Michele said they might have gay members. So she sat and said I added in random people who I knew to be gay, a bunch of random women’s groups as well as legit LGBTQIA. But for the most part there is not a shred of evidence most of them had done any work with BFF ever.

It shocking for her to be caught out in a lie - Sara did not co create the email. Sara was uncomfortable starting a new project so soon to pride, it was not fully formed. She had been harassed online by these people.

And then Michele took the reins, adds in any potential Sara hater she can think of, doesn’t need to be LGBTQIA, to an email about an LGBTQIA event that is never actually going to happen.

Boom 💥

Oh and it’s sent to Falls Women Centre, Ardoyne, Sinn Fein. Naomi asked - so no DUP then? Michele said no.

Because the former ‘West Belfast Film Festival’ will only stand by their Trans if they are a Green trans. And the Board approved Michele to be in a promotional video endorsing Sinn Fein.

Ans Michele’s political statement supporting Green politics together with the fact that Orange Trans aren’t invited doesn’t raise an eye?

Madcats · 19/11/2025 07:33

Thank you for the updates from those in the ET (nobody has complained about the temp, or is NW omitting such matters).

Are you able to look at the bundles? I’m just wondering whether it really was the case that “the” email header had a list of LGBT+ orgs and then the WI, kids groups, the local baker….

Today I suppose we find out how many of the Board wanted SM gone.

[Congratulations on the footie to the Scottish contributors; I think there must be rather a lot of sore heads this morning!]

Oh yes bundles are available and it’s a GDPR nightmare really.

A load of outlooks and gmails - quite a few personal emails, don’t appear to be in any official capacity, now outed as gay or might once have looked as someone who was gay! Oh and it’s a family fun day so of course you invite your local abortion group.

Id actually be annoyed to receive that email - it suggests you’ll be too hungover to care for your kids so lay about in front of our BIGLY SCREEN is the plan but let me know if you have an ideas because I haven’t bothered to think of one because in fact the event is never going to happen.

It’s not in the Pride brochure. I only emailed last night in the wee hours for a permit. I’m off on holiday for two weeks as is my only other full time employee. No one is around to arrange it.

But if I get a few hater emails in nice paragraphs then that’ll do nicely.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 19/11/2025 07:53

I agree with all of SexRealiat's explanation about the legal issues except the issies/pleading part. SD cited precedent that the list of issues needn't be slavishly stuck to. And his agreement to 'to amendment being needed was about the issues list. But he said the point absolutely had to be specified in the pleadings and hadn't been. However, as they'd already heard almost all the evidence about it he was happy for the amendment to go in closing subs.

Note for English and other overseas readers 'Green' politics above means Republican, not environmental. West Belfast is a firmly Republican area.

Additional musing. 'Notions' are found both sides of the Irish Sea - typically with an adjective. But in England they can be singular and positive 'An excellent notion, Watson.'. On the Irish side they are definitely negative and always plural: far-fetched, overblown, half-baked, fanciful and flimsy notions.

NW may miss out details of legal squabbling, but he's very good at pasting in details of emails etc from the bundle. Usually we only get a sentence or 2 read out in court, not the whole thing, so his larger extracts make things much clearer.

MD remained in court once her evidence was finished, and was told off by the judge for laughing at one of the later questions. Particularly rude given how well the other observers had stifled their reactions to her more blatant ridiculousness.

MD's outraged respectability when blandly asked by NC to 'agree that this looks rather like a penis pump, doesn't it?' was quite something.

That strikes me as difficult first project; since you have to create corresponding shapes that are not circular, and must be even and fit together perfectly if they're not to wobble.

@NoBinturongsHereMate thanks for the details - hard to believe MD laughed and had to be told off (again!). I'd have been mortified had I been in her stead.

ProfessorOfAllTheThings · 19/11/2025 08:01

Omg, what looked like a penis pump?

(What is a penis pump? <sheltered>)

SexRealistic · 19/11/2025 08:01

Another classic from Michele.

So Naomi is being her typical self - you do know don’t you that there are men who think they are women who have a festish of being milked like a cow / looks like a penis pump / quite Sci Fi don’t you think.

And Michele said I never noticed it. Naomi said this was a lobby you walked through as you walked in and out to work.

Michele says nope.

Someone asks how long was the exhibition in place?

Answer 4 / 6 weeks. So you walked past it a minimum of 40 times based on once in and out, no coffee trips, no external meetings, no going out for lunch.

Oh Michele. Where is your cultural curiosity?

ProfessorEmeritusVeraAtkins · 19/11/2025 08:02

So 'sf' was 'sci fi' not 'sexual fetish' or 'sexual fantasy' as many of us thought?

So this was an art exhibition in their building?

Who was the art by? Why was it there?

Presumably a shared building?

No one thought that was a bit much in the lobby?

Given that X wouldn't let NW post the picture.....

NoBinturongsHereMate · 19/11/2025 08:10

Belfast Exposed is an photography gallery that shares a building with BFF. I'm not sure exactly which exhibition this particular image (sci-fi penis pumps used as breast pumps) was in, but it was an 'installation' with the artist doing manicures next to the exhibits, rather than just photos hung on walls.

Well art is supposed to be challenging, eh? I wonder how many women were awarding themseves cool-girl brownie points for hosting it while carefully looking the other way as they walked past. Couldn't just have been Michelel.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 19/11/2025 08:12

Art,¹ darling. Inclusive art.

Sounds like it.

Maybe Naomi was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt as an art piece....
