Thank you to the Professors of Updating- I've just caught up
Where's the eye bleach for seeing cow milking fantasy man?

Also putting a butter curler on my Christmas list.
I soften my butter by putting my knife into one of the gas jets on my hob 😳works well but im told that you can use a cheese grater on a block of hard butter

You can make cheaty puff-pastry that way.

It's all v unedifying. As these things generally are.

Must be weird to be NC et al. A hit squad roaming the UK and getting these unique and intense insights into the underside of the stones that get lifted.

What I want understand is why lying seems the right way out of the mess you've got yourself in.

Both MD and MTM came across as unreliable, evasive, combative and did themselves and their organisation no favours at all.

Edited

But what can they say in reply to NC that makes themselves and their organization seem any better?
Presumably if they say - well we didn’t say it out loud but I expect everyone did want her sacked if we could find a way. They look even worse, and their own job is at risk.

If you're making your own puff pastry you need to add Professor to your username

still busy catching up - any thing else I've missed besides the NW thread?

Thank you for the good wishes. To the person who asked if I told them who I was lol they know I'm on here but not my username as I don't want anyone to know my real identity (and I use different usernames for different topics / threads to be extra careful).

Wait - was there a link to an actual image of cow milking fantasy man? The version conjured up by my imagination is bad enough. 🙀

In what area of sub-tropical Britain are you lot who have needed to worry about having butter out of the fridge for the past few months?

If your kitchen is so warm, cut the butter pat into chunks, arrange them between greaseproof paper to freeze them and just defrost small amounts? OR invest in a butter keeper.

Away with your sensible suggestions!

Well, except that they know now, right, assuming you told them your name in the interview... Can't imagine many FWR MNetters got offered jobs with that kind of organisation on the same day!

weegielass · 18/11/2025 21:22

just to say (to stop the poor lass getting tweets from both sides) that there's another weegielass on X who hasn't posted since 2023 - its not me. She's not posted since 2023, whereas my account is more active but private.

CarefulN0w · 18/11/2025 21:42

Ooh those butter curlers look proper fancy. So much classier than the defrost setting on the microwave.

I have a distant relative who taught John Nettles (of Bergerac & Midsommer) geography. Does that make me head of interpol do you think? I have an O level in French & everything.

Edited to add my congratulations to @weegie

Scout2016 · 18/11/2025 21:48

Other than MD, who had her head in her hands at the thought of upsetting the very same women's groups she risked upsetting with her trans inclusive t-shirt, is it clear that any of the other witnesses had actually watched Sara's speech?

My impression is that the very fact she was there was enough, and then that other people complained she was there and spoke. The organisations she named didn't complain, just other (TRA) organisations who didn't complain about the content itself?

Is it too late for one of the women's groups to complain about MD's t-shirt? She said they should work with WRN (don't think she meant it). It would be fair for them to respond with no, because you and your t-shirt....

Joolsin · 18/11/2025 21:48

Wow, I've just caught up. So many sidetracks I wanted to comment on, but the conversation galloped on to other things so quickly I missed my chances. Hugely impressed with the august and eminent company on these threads, I feel quite the pleb in comparison. Thanks to Prof Myrtle for the superb tweet posting/pasting and to everyone for the detective work. Stunning stuff!!!

It's 2C here (outside, to be fair), hence why I'm giving away mine. No need!

Apologies @weegielass for not congratulating your Weegieness earlier. When do you start?

weegielass · 18/11/2025 22:16

I'd rather not say too much about when / where / who if that's okay. Thank you again for all the good wishes. I've given up on catching up with everything that happened today, what with bloody cloudfare then as soon as I get connected my laptop gets stolen to watch the game on iplayer. Bloody men and their balls LOL

Ah but it was a great game @weegielass. We were cheering on from over the border here. I'm so pleased for them, it was as well deserved as your success today!

No, true.

But you can just have some appearance of reflection, or being able to see things from the pov of others. Or having reflecting and had some empathy for sm.

Or indeed of having read around the issues you've been called to speak about.

MTM saying she didn't know anything about anything is just stupid. It's so glaringly untrue ot undermines everything else she says.

And MD could have conceded things like 'I could have been much more clear about the email password' rather than, ' her solicitor could have helped with that' without harming her case and at least coming out of it less petulant and nasty. And to say she didn't notice the picture of the fetish man....

However much the bias was in the R favour and however much the Judge has taken again NC, the R witnesses today did absolutely nothing to paint themselves as honest, transparent and straightforward at all.

CraftandGlamour · 18/11/2025 23:18

This thread never ceases to introduce me to things I did not know I did not know. Butter curlers! Sounds like a lesser spotted Bart Simpson swear.

Also congrats to @weegielass. May the road rise up to meet you on your new adventure.

With love, the new DG of the BBC

Am struggling to keep up with this as usual...I was a Gnome in brownies but didn't enjoy it and dropped out asap. I like a certificate or two and actually have a diploma in booze 🍷🍾Not sure what that qualifies me for in terms of jobs.

Tory MP?

Yrs a fellow gnome.

Well I hadn't seen it, so thanks for that.
Although I'm desperately trying to catch up here before I go to bed, and this looks like another must-read so maybe I shoudl really thank you at all!

Or maybe I should just give up work and devote myself to keeping up with these amazing threads. My jaw has been dropping here.

moto748e · 18/11/2025 23:47

The heyday of butter curlers surely predates widespread fridge ownership? They might be used as a softening technique now, but their original purpose was purely decorative, I thought? My Mum had one, it was probably her mother's.

MC, in his 'OMG, this is really serious!' email said he'd just watched it.

I have a 1930s butter curler, but can't eat butter so have very little use for it.

M-TMcG's determination to know absolutely nothing about anything was really quite impressive, in its way.

Stop showing off your mad butter stewardship skills. Who can hold themselves to such a standard?

So between life & obligations I haven’t had a moment to sift through my thoughts from today but let’s try:

  1. I ❤️ Nick Wallis but also bring back Tribunal Tweets. He skips over the usual tussling between Counsel and Judge. Today it was so good & actually was a key point. He’d not tweeted the actual original points around list of issues last week which would have sorted it out quick smart. He is fab on everything else but we can give him a needs improvement rating on procedure. But @Justabaker let’s push harder for NI or elsewhere because your work is so so vital.
  2. Michele Devlin is something else entirely. Between I was really really busy, I had three jobs, I had to do IT, it was hard to keep a straight face. When she said that Sara is a nasty transphobe and called someone ‘it’ it was shocking but Naomi pointed out she was too busy to investigate actual conduct that Ithey could sack her for. The ‘it’ comment was never pleaded, wasn’t raised in any of the investigation papers, wasn’t mentioned to Sara, wasn’t mentioned to board, no note of it. In fact it was like it had never happened.
  3. Naomi in a small ET in a wee office block saying things like ‘It’s is true isn’t it that some men who think they are women have a fetish of wanting their breasts to be milked like a cow, and in this case the large glass bell jars attached to the pump are rather sci fi aren’t they? Im sure that after looking at the photo and hearing Naomi talk about fetishes, Micheal McKeown wishes the Judge had recused him.
  4. Sean Doherty isn’t one bit impressed with proceedings. It has been long and while he is all for Letting Women Speak, in this case he would clearly prefer if Michele kept to yes or no answers.
  5. Naomi a few times through sheer exasperation or perhaps mad skills sat in silence when Michele finished her answer. In Michele’s anxiety she kept talking and it kept getting worse. I was second hand embarrassed!
  6. SciFiTitPump is my next username!
