Clearly she wasn't and most normal people know that.

The BBC is worryingly out of touch. It needs serious reform.

MassiveWordSalad · 06/11/2025 14:02

From the article:

The BBC's Executive Complaints Unit said it considered Croxall's facial expression, when she changed the phrase to "pregnant women", laid it open to the interpretation that it "indicated a particular viewpoint in the controversies currently surrounding trans ideology."

The BBC have absolutely lost the plot. How can we show support for Martine?

Poor Maxine. Hopefully she knows that normal people are behind her, even if the brainwashed are not.

EstherGreenwood63 · 06/11/2025 14:04

Yeah total bollocks isn't it.

The phrase pregnant people "indicates a particular viewpoint". It's not normal, natural or neutral usage

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 06/11/2025 14:07

Oh FFS, the BBC are mainly complete morons, I'm guessing there's plenty of transed kids amongst the higher ups.

Exactly!

The BBC do themselves no favours with this. It’s like those in charge are trying to lose public confidence and the licence fee.

Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters · 06/11/2025 14:08

The BBC are so out of touch with what people actually think. They are their very own echo chamber. I used to have respect for them, now they are just an embarrassment.

Your BBC - you're joking!!

Comtesse · 06/11/2025 14:11

Policing the facial expressions of newsreaders. Blimey haven’t people got better things to do than complain about things like that?

Cailin66 · 06/11/2025 14:11

Is the BBC Complaints Unit run by the LGBT alphabet people?

MassiveWordSalad · 06/11/2025 14:15

Gestating and giving birth to a baby are the most female-sexed thing that you can do. If you can’t accept that you are a biological woman during this process, a newsreader’s mild expression of frustration is the very least of your problems.

So when she said she was excited that Boris Johnson had resigned as PM that was OK and impartial, but to correct "pregnant people" as "women" is not impartial?

PronounssheRa · 06/11/2025 14:17

Given the numbers of people cancelling their licence every year, the BBC in its current form won't last much longer.

This twitter thread from Nick Wallis is illuminating

BBC news online marking its own homework yet again. 🙄 This is a great example of how self-governance is (not) working out post-Leveson.

If they don't think that viewers want their news read by human people with normal human expressions on their normal human faces, why don't they just build some kind of newsbot, plug it straight into their computer and be done with it all?

Would a postcard campaign be appropriate here? Like was done for Sandy Peggie? Anyone have a postal address that would both (a) get to Martine and (b) be visible to everyone else at the BBC?

They certainly chose an interesting day to release this daft decision - just when the Telegraph accused them of exactly this sort of out of touch misjudgment.

I hope Martine Croxall goes to Sky rather than accept this censure. Her first order of business should be a documentary on the dangers of sex-obscuring language in healthcare.

Imagine if she took the BBC to a tribunal.

Good idea as contacting the BBC through their complaints dept is a total waste of time

MassiveWordSalad · 06/11/2025 14:39

Would it be a good idea to send postcards direct to Tim Davie, does anyone have an opinion?

Director-General Tim Davie
BBC Broadcasting House
Portland Place
London
W1A 1AA
United Kingdom

The corporation has many other postal addresses, including a complaint department where they no doubt shred anything gender critical.

What data is made public from the bbc? Is it foi’d regularly? Thinking if a campaign happened how would we see the effects?

EasternStandard · 06/11/2025 14:46

My god 1984 territory, make sure you can lie with a straight face or else.

What do they do about? Re education or..
