Deborah Cohen is having a back and forth with Sonia Sodha about this on X. She said she didn't face pressure at the BBC but that she did face a lot of pressure externally. I wonder who from? 🤔 Sounds like there is a story there.

ItsCoolForCats · 13/11/2025 20:06

It would be good if the BBC commissioned a podcast series into the houndings that women have faced for speaking out about sex v gender, similar to the one they have just done regarding Kate Clanchy. Too much to hope?

Harassedevictee · 13/11/2025 20:06

I am wondering how Fiona Bruce will handle it on Question Time.

I imagine the focus will be on Trump and if anyone does raise the trans coverage Fiona will quickly say wait a minute far to complicated to include that, Let’s move on.

Fiona Bruce beclowned herself by challenging a world expert in ccience & Genetics, Sir Robert Winston, challenging him when he pointed out there were only two sexes by saying "there are people who would vehemently disagree with you"

To be fair to her and all the other journalists who've made equally mind numbing comments, there are some very dangerous people and organisations lobbying in favour of trans ideology removing women's rights and child safeguarding. No doubt this fear has generated some of their stupidity.

She ended up leaving BBC newsnight though, I had thought BC she'd got the same shit as others.

It's not new. Remembering Liz McKean who had to leave newsnight to get her Savile exposé on air at itv

Zarah TWAW Sultana is on tonight. At the weekend she was hanging around the Trans Liberation Group who have high hopes of shaping YourParty policy

If the grilling that Helen Joyce endured counts as this, to balance all of the fawning that multiple TW experienced, then..... er..... yes, they covered it.

The single appearance, years after she came on the scene, and only after the FWS, SC case was decided. In the interim how many times have non-women appeared on the show, lionized for their bravery and empathized with for all the very many ways in which non-women must go to extra effort to browbeat others into pretending to ignore the fact that they are non-women.

And they never apologised, as far as I am aware, for their absolutely appalling treatment of Jenni Murray, the sine qua non of Woman’s Hour at the time, and a spokesperson for women, for telling the truth that transwomen are not women.

I haven't watched Question Time in ages. Do they talk about gender much?

Timpanic · 14/11/2025 03:16

They're up in arms about this on Reddit, saying the BBC is definitely not Pro trans or biased at all. One of them commented that sex matters was so hateful and ridiculous and could you ever imagine "melanin matters" being an ok organisation. My first thought in response to that was obviously "errr isn't Black Lives Matter kind of a big thing??".

No they actively avoid it.

Hoardasurass · 13/11/2025 07:43

Well I'm shocked but the BBC has finally admitted that they have been biased in their reporting of "trans issues" and told their staff to cover both sides of the debate.

Dose anyone know where I can find a copy of the new style guide?

I wonder why this story hasn’t been reported on the BBC website? Still hiding stories from their readers. Business as usual.

ScrollingLeaves · 14/11/2025 11:51

‘A picture speaks a thousand words’ …. or not when the BBC cropped the famous photo of the rapist, the male/transwoman ‘Isla Bryson’ , so you could only see his top half with his pretty blond hair, red lips and pink puffer jacket - but not his lower half with his tights clinging to his obviously male body.

Perhaps the BBC thought it would be in bad taste to show the whole photo , but by not doing so they deprived the public in general of viscerally knowing at a glance that any idea that Isla Bryson was a woman because he said he was ( the instant self ID Scotland was after at the time), or that he should be in a female prison as was the policy, because he said he was a woman, was madness.

moto748e · 14/11/2025 15:51

A BBC source defended the Children’s and Education department, arguing that Davies-Arai’s examples were historical and pre-date 2020

Or, to put it another way, they've been doing it for years!

BundleBoogie · 14/11/2025 17:36

Well it’s coming through loud and clear that these people (especially Hidalgo) are so unbelievably biased, they don’t even know they are biased.

They are never going to be able to fix the issue if they can’t even see what the issue is. I’ve said it before, I don’t normally suggest that people should lose their jobs but I can’t see how these people are redeemable.

Thanks for the share btw.

Appalonia · 14/11/2025 18:01

I feel like the BBC will only really redeem themselves if they make a documentary series about all the stuff we know about, the harm of puberty blockers and the mutilation of young people's bodies, the online grooming, the institutional capture of so many organisations, the cancellations and abuse of women, both online and IRL, the influence of WPATH, the fightback, the court cases etc.

However, I hold out no hope that the BBC will ever do this. I'm just so grateful that we do have platforms like Twitter ( particularly since Elon Musk bought it )and MN, where pp have been able to report on the truth, inform others and organise.

Supporterofwomensrights · 14/11/2025 18:12

This should be grounds for immediate dismissal:

Hidalgo insisted that while it was “vital” for the BBC to hear from experts on trans issues it would be “inappropriate” for her to “meet with any specific group on any side of this debate”.

ScrollingLeaves · 14/11/2025 20:06

The BBC is required to represent a broad range of views and perspectives across our output that adheres to our editorial guidelines and Ofcom standards.”

It is so shocking that this effectively means adults’ transactivist propaganda.

BBC Sounds have added a podcast by someone finding their true Druidy self. You don't need any clues to guess their "journey" 🙄.

I'm going to guess that finding one's true Druidy self does not involve sitting in endless boring committee meetings planning the Eisteddfod.

I am not sure even then, because I think the gender stuff is really a subset of their embrace of identity politics.

I suspect that until the latter is exposed for what it is, they won't really be able to shed their bias on gender issues. They might improve on the surface if they are made to, but they won't get it.

Tiddler1976 · 15/11/2025 08:14

Ironically, I discussed the BBC coverage of the Peggie / NHS Fife case with a DEI lead at another NHS Board highlighting that the BBC coverage didn’t match what was happening in the court that day. Her response was, “…..but the BBC wouldn’t lie, would they?” 🙄

I’d never complained to the BBC before until the Sandie Peggie case as sitting through the evidence and statements each day obviously gave an insight into what was happening, what was being said, and then seeing that not reflected in the evenings reporting was shocking. I think in my complaints (there were more than one!) that it highlighted that either the journalists were not capable of understanding the importance of what had been discussed that day so as to give a meaningful summary in the evenings news, or they were purposefully misrepresenting it to a wider audience. Both could, of course, be the answer!
