Morph is VERY VERY ANGRY

When isn't Morph very angry?

Lalgarh · 11/11/2025 19:52

Isn't he still looking for lesbians to impregnate

SionnachRuadh · 11/11/2025 20:06

Spectator podcast - first section is on the BBC, and Gove and Maddie Grant are well clued up on the gender issue.

Govety govey GOVEY as DG of the BBC

Dead Ringers will have a field day

SionnachRuadh · 11/11/2025 20:20

Govey is good on the podcast, but I'm disappointed at how pop culture literate he is. He should not know who Sydney Sweeney is. That's why he's got a younger co-host, to explain these things to him.

moto748e · 11/11/2025 21:28

He just can't leave his lips alone, can he?

@BungledBundle: I also heard Evan Davis move the conversation on sharply once Helen Lewis came out with wrongthink. It seemed like Davis was expecting a bit of fence-sitting, "but the BBC means so well and is so nice", and for her not to be so critical. And on the topic of capture by genderism, of all subjects!

Of course, PM is a prime example of how the BBC is in thrall to gender woo. Whenever they’ve had an item on trans women, ie men, in women’s sport, the “expert” they interview is Joanne Harper, a trans woman. Blatant bias masquerading as objectivity.

Supporterofwomensrights · 11/11/2025 22:04

LOJ refers to the 'anti-trans obsession that existed in BBC management'. Does he live on planet Earth?

Incidentally, this is one of the examples of the BBC following their own guidelines and seeing no problems. When minority issues are discussed, the experiences of those minorities should be centered; so the logic goes. And, of course, trans people will demand that they be given unrestricted access to single sex facilities under self-id, compete in women's sports and would see GC views banned.

There are instances of the BBC being so ideologically motivated that they don't even follow their own self-selected standards. (e.g. they apparently agree that the trump edit is such an example.) But it's still the case that those standards themselves are highly geared toward bias, and there's a total inability for them to even comprehend that could be the case.

Today’s episode of The Newsagents was interesting. All 3 presenters, all 3 of whom held prominent roles at the BBC were briefly speaking in defence of the BBC. Not a huge amount was said about trans issues but John Sopel was very clear about ideological capture and having taken a ridiculous stance. Emily Matlis agreed and commented that lots of newspapers had done this too. Sopel was pointing out the BBC failing in relation to not apologising and changing stance.
Unsurprisingly, Lewis Goodall, who was vocal throughout the rest of the show, said nothing in this. He is completely TWAW and it is significant that he didn’t push back on the points Sopel was making. It suggests that TRA journos are running out of road.

This episode was rather eye opening and worth a watch. Maitis claimed that it was her work alongside Hannah Barnes that ultimately lead to the closure of the Tavistok. I don’t think I’ve ever heard her say this before. She also claims they were “terrified” to broadcast what they did but doesn’t say exactly what they were terrified of. Sopel was pretty adamant that the BBC’s treatment of the trans issue has been a mistake. Maitlis was trying to downplay it but I think unwittingly has emphasised how bad things were. She’s now (surprise surprise) receiving hate from TRAs.

I recall a couple of episodes where Goodall was full TWAW and Maitlis, whilst not going that far, was making positive noises about his contributions. I don’t think Sopel was present. I also recall a more balanced episode with Sopel and Maitlis, perhaps near the time of the SC ruling, where Sopel - whilst not expressing GC views - showed more balance and Maitlis provided mild counter views.

I get the feeling that Sopel has absented himself from shows/items Goodall has led on this, and vice versa. I expect Maitlis was unconvinced by softly sided with Goodall to play it safe.

SionnachRuadh · 12/11/2025 07:57

I hate to be cynical, but it would not astonish me if Maitlis were to sniff the air, sense the wind changing, and claim credit for something she didn't have very much to do with.

Goodall, I'm afraid - and maybe this comes from being overpromoted too young - has a streak of fanaticism about him. He hates the Corbynites but he's got more in common with them than he'd like to admit.

I got the impression she was using the News Night story to say “look how unbiased the BBC is” but it rather backfired on her when she said they had been “terrified”. And then Sopel contradicted her anyway by saying that it was anine off story. She’s obviously been scared of backlash and If she was more involved in the Tavistock story she’s been very quietist about her involvement. I had previously just assumed she was the News Night presenter for that story with no further input than that. I suspect you are right and she’s been waiting to see which way the wind is going to blow before committing herself to one side or the other.

Floisme · 12/11/2025 09:32

I am also surprised to hear that Emily Maitlis was so involved in investigating the Tavistock. But, if she’s decided it’s a good career move to make such a claim, then I’ll choose to appreciate the bigger picture.

Just listened to Today on R4 , a rather weak piece on gender at about 08.50.
apparently calling Rose of Darlington Nurses fame a biological male is a massive breakthrough and change of the whole BBC institution. More like a sop to the feminists and we'll be back to drag queens next week.
edited for SPAG and missed words

DamnTheCheesemongers · 12/11/2025 09:49

Maitlis is inserting herself into the story after the fact surely? From what I recall it was investigated by, and reported on by Hannah Barnes. Credit to her producers and colleagues (including Maitlis) for supporting her but they seemed to do so by battening down the hatches, not coming out fighting. I concede this is the BBC way though so don't hold it against them. Much.

RE: R4 PM yesterday. Could someone give me a rough time stamp of where Helen Lewis wrecks Evan's safe space with the evil words of truth? I refuse to listen to that man any more than is necessary, he's bad for my blood pressure.

dogtraveller · 12/11/2025 10:03

There was a much better interview with Helen Lewis and Jonathan Dimbleby on Naga Munchetty’s show yesterday.

39 up votes for this so far. No mention on the Reddit of the TRA issue but this on Trump

"What frustrates me is that this is a good example of regulation and culpability, where an organisation is scrutinised, found to have done wrong and people have resigned.
That's EXACTLY what SHOULD happen.
Yet it's being painted as some example of how terrible the BBC is, when none of the other news organisations or people like Trump would EVER accept such criticism let alone take responsibility for it and do the right thing.
This is what happens when you hold yourself to a higher moral standard than the opposition. When you accept wrongdoing they crow over it, whilst never admitting their own."

Emily Maitlis is being called a monster on Reddit, plus the usually claims of having blood on her hands.

I would imagine she is getting lots of abuse now. I think it's unsurprisingly that more presenters don't speak out and allow themselves to be steamrolled by younger colleagues. It just makes the bravery of people like Hannah Barnes all the more remarkable.

nauticant · 12/11/2025 12:13

I would like to hear from Barnes how much of a contribution Maitlis actually made.
