this is fantastic news. The background to their story is however concerning. It should have never got this bad.

That is primarily woman fault. Many thought defending trans benefited women in some daft ideology. Would have been easier to get this society passed/allowed if they partnered with straight men or allowed men to have their own space too. Allyship/scratch my back if I scratch your back.

I'm quite sure these three young women would be happy for men to have their own single-sex society and indeed would encourage them to set one up if they wanted to. As for partnering with men to set up a women's society - it's the twenty-first century, not the nineteenth. Women are perfectly capable of doing things all by ourselves.

Does anyone remember a poster called (I think) MagicMagpie? I would have liked to shake her hand. I hope she's doing OK.

I do indeed remember her. A remarkable young woman.

You implied it. "They were called slurs". So i assumed maybe some of the women were racial targeted. Then you (you as in someone here" said they were called T3RF. That it!? Not exactly the Kl@n or colonialism or legal legislation against them. Just losers on campus.

I assumed maybe some of the women were racial [sic] targeted

Now that it's been repeatedly demonstrated to you that your understanding of the word 'slur' was in error, and that your assumption was unwarranted, I assume you'll be apologising for your misunderstanding?

The behaviour of other students and student bodies towards these women has been appalling. Like almost everyone here, I applaud their bravery.

Anyway. I have donated towards their initial crowdfunder and have also joined as an alumna, as well as advertising their society to fellow classmates. Hope to hear of successful events from them soon.

Yes, definitely!

Ooo, arsebiscuits, I missed the fun of post-modernism being done all wrong.
Slurring applies to lots of instruments, (and wtf actual fuck are wood instruments in this context? Someone was over tired, or lazy, or stupid, and missed off the wind bit), it relates to bowing and blowing, at the very least.
Fingering and tonguing also have particular meaning in relation to playing musical instruments but taken out of context could cause much confuddlement, and dare I say possibly be a tad offensive. Ask a string player in a lesson or a rehearsal "Do you need a fingering?" and they very likely won't think you are offering sexual fulfillment. Asking a random woman in a pub the same question is not remotely as benign.

Define terms in context and stop trying to pretend that it means they are universal and therefore all lovely fluffy and cuddly all the time. If you are a chemist emulsion isn't just a tin of fucking paint.

I don't dismiss their effort, but there is no bravery. "We want to set up a group for naturally born women". Cambridge hasn't denied. The law hasn't denied them. Men in general haven't denied them. They're not Nelson Mandela. Hate to brea it to you. They're privlalged women from a privileged class, from privileged society that didn't lie something and decided to change something. That's it.

As for the "slur" definition. I'm not against that being the description being used, but those here are acting as if "T3RF" is the most painful word imaged that has held women down for centuries or something OR equal to words that have held many down. It's a corny acronym that most people in society never heard of.

And once again we are back at the argument that when we are talking about trans issues, only the feelings of male to female trans people count. You are so entrenched in that view that you can't even begin to imagine the fears these brave young women have overcome to set up that society in a place like a university, where academics lose their jobs for holding the "wrong" opinion about biological sex.

Helleofabore · 26/12/2025 08:13

If TERF isn’t a slur or a word that is problematic, why post T3RF instead, brightlights?

Bullied by whom? Must be other women/teacher facility. I just can't imagine straight men being against women saying "meant can't be women".

You don't have to imagine it. Its all over the Internet and MSM. Left wing men (straight and gay) excitedly using transactivism as a cover for abusing women while feeling justified and virtuous because RSOH and these women are horrible bigots anyway. Have you been under a rock these last 10 years? How did you miss this?
