Has banned women and girls over the age of 12 from participating. Thoughts?

The website states multiple Muslim charities, local and international, benefit . What ‘enlightenment’ would having their names provide for you?

But whilst you’re answering, maybe answer this, the other member of the tag team seems to be avoiding it.

Please explain why you think this particular run can be open to (and this is their words, from their website):

Open to everyone: runners, walkers, and children (girls under 12 and boys of any age)

Why girls under 12 but boys can be any age?
Explain , clearly, what you think the difference is between those two groups and why girls are only girls if they are under 12 but boys are boys even if they are over 12.

@WeeGeeBoredwhy is this ok?

ZoeCM · 12/10/2025 15:36

Given the current climate, I can understand this being enforced for the charity run. They don't want women and girls harrassed along the way, a group of fit men will be safe.

If they don't want women and girls harassed, they should ban MALE participants, not female ones!

Annalouisa · 12/10/2025 15:37

ThatSpryShaker · 12/10/2025 08:33

No i am not the organiser. I just don't think it is illegal or more noteworthy than what our British men are up to. If Muslim women are upset and require support to challenge this, then I am there with them. Doesn't seem like they mind unless you can point to Muslim women speaking about how problematic this is?

If not, I am sure they can join the thousands of organised running events we do have that welcome everyone.

@ThatSpryShaker So let's I say I organise a park run that excludes black people. According to your reasoning, that would be totally okay because black runners can just go to any other park run? 🙄

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:37

No I actually know why. But I want you to tell me.
So again tell me why do you think women need their own spaces seperate to men.

” I know why … but tell me …”

you are oozing toxic power / control

you are shooting yourself in the foot … keep going, save us the trouble !

MissPollysFitDolly · 12/10/2025 15:38

I'm very late to this discussion, just seen this. I can't believe this is happening, being tolerated and actually being defended on this board. Doesn't matter how much was raised, this is discrimination. I hope it isn't allowed to take place in this form next year. (Now off to read the rest of the thread).

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 12/10/2025 15:06

You seem confused.

If you have adult males wearing clothing that deliberately exposes their genitalia to female children - it is the adult male that is the problem - and fucking dangerous frankly.

If you have adult males unable to control their sexual urges based on the length of a female child’s skirt - it is the adult male that is the problem - and fucking dangerous frankly.

ETA - and anyone who pretends to not understand that is also fucking dangerous, to women and girls.

Edited

It's the same bloody thing.
If you are making people uncomfortable because of YOU whether you are a child or an adult chooses to modify their clothing in an inappropriate sexually charged manner then you should be held accountable and should be made to stop doing it.
But go on let male teacher dress the way I said.
Let's see if you keep the same energy.
I know you won't though

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:35

When I said not a good look I meant it doesn't look good on the muslim community even though we know 99 percent of them are not like this and would never rape young white girls.

My God.

And you think that it will reflect badly on us ("I want to hear you say it out loud") if we explain why we've got a right to undress, exercise, compete or have trauma counselling away from men, and men like you, who think rape gangs look bad.

I told you you had no idea how you were coming across (you didn't even think we could tell you were a man) but you actually scale new depths. Do keep talking, Operation Let Them Speak rarely worked so well.

Eh? The pp wants to stop teen girls participating. Nonsense. Damaging sexist tripe.

But this is the UK where men and women are equal under the law. If I wanted to attend this event and run, as a woman why shouldn’t I be allowed to? It is not a “men’s race” it is being tables as “inclusive” therefore, I should be able to turn up in shorts and a cropped running top and partake. It is irrelevant what their religious rules are, they’re totally irrelevant to me. The only relevant laws here are the ones of England and Wales

No religion operating in this country should be treating men and women differently, esp in public. No child should have to cover their hair for religious reasons. In fact no woman should cover her hair or face incase a poor man can’t contain himself. It creates the perspective men can’t contain themselves.

But this is the UK where men and women are equal under the law. If I wanted to attend this event and run, as a woman why shouldn’t

Because it's not for you just like many organizations for just women are not for men. It shouldn't be hard to understand that.

Women only gym- not for men. Do you understand?

GoldThumb · 12/10/2025 15:42

Lifesd · 12/10/2025 11:54

Two things can be equally wrong and disgusting at the same time - pathetic how people are trying to twist themselves into knots to excuse this to be honest.

But completely unsurprising

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 12/10/2025 15:33

Are you also confused as to whether teenage girls at school are children or not, and that the male teachers, whatever their age, are adult males, in a position of authority, responsibility and also power over said children? And in addition, have you ever heard of safeguarding?

Safeguard is essential and it works both ways for the protection of all

Bumdrops · 12/10/2025 15:44

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:32

Very interesting isn't it.
The year are having the anti muslim prostets, story after story after story from gb news and the mail about muslims, conversations about cousin marriage etc this now pops us.

Not sure we have had a summer of anti Muslim protests ….

cousin marriage - we have seen questionable NHS guidance published very recently - again not anti Muslim

we are discussing equality / human rights / adhering to the law / protected characteristics…

is any of that anti - Muslim ? ?

Women only gyms are to protect women.

“Family friendly” runs that exclude women are not for the safety of “families”

Interesting perspective.

So, in your imagination, do children also need to have DBS clearance to work with adults?

So when an adult male is "uncomfortable" attracted to a child, it's the child's fault?

I have no words.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:47

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 12/10/2025 15:20

Wait? What??? You don’t think the organised repeated rape and trafficking of young girls is a “good look” how about a disgusting deplorable crime that makes right thinking people sick to their stomach? “Not a good look” fuck me!!!!!!

Sorry I cleared it up.
I meant It doesn't look good on the pakistani muslim community even though 99 percent of them are not like that.
Yes the crimes committed against those young girls were absolutely horrific.

upseedaisee · 12/10/2025 15:47

Now here's a thing.
How about all us mumsnetters apply to run for this Muslim Charity Run. If nothing else it would cause an admin storm.

Thomasina79 · 12/10/2025 08:10

An absolute disgrace and another reason why Islam does not fit with western values. If this was simply a “charity run” and it said no women allowed there would be uproar but we allow it because “we must be inclusive” whilst their religion is a step back for women in Britain! Just gross tbh

Look this is becoming like gender woo woo. The more you engage with something that is so plainly wrong the more chances they have to accuse you of bigotry and find complicated ‘explanations’ which are so ambiguous they can mean anything they want them to mean.

The British public is waking up to this, I think enough chat has happened and now we need to focus on activism and writing to people in positions of authority.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:49

IdaGlossop · 12/10/2025 15:22

What about the daughters killed in 'honour killings' because they refuse to marry in an arranged marriage?

Which is so so so so so rare.
But it's horrific either way

Having grown up around these views I am not surprised. But I think many will be shocked to the core when the sunlight hits this.

Prepare yourselves. The most dangerous and deranged TRA you can remember is going to look reasonable and peaceful in comparison.
