Has banned women and girls over the age of 12 from participating. Thoughts?

I caught that while browsing the news online. It was, of course, in the Daily Mail who thrive on hyperbole. I thought when reading it, "At least they're leaving Meghan alone for once", but, no, they were not as I saw scrolling down.

It's not my business but Islam decrees men and women's sporting events should be separate. There's nothing to stop Muslim women doing one at another time if they want.

Given the current climate, I can understand this being enforced for the charity run. They don't want women and girls harrassed along the way, a group of fit men will be safe.

The FA banned women’s football because they thought it was unsuitable for women and shouldn’t be encouraged. It isn’t like this attitude hasn’t been a problem in our recent history. That ban was lifted during my life time, so it feels a bit soon to be complacent and say it is none of our business. This attitude to women in sport has a legacy. In the recent rugby World Cup final the Canadian women’s team had to be crowd funded.

I’m not sure why the Daily Mail writing about Meghan is particularly relevant to anything really.

No its the same thing.
if male teachers were modyfying their attire in a somewhat sexually provocative manner so you could see what they had for dinner, made their clothing shorter,or even tghter so their package was bulging it would make your daughters feel uncomfortable and you would call them perverts so for me it's the same thing.
If young girls are dressing in certain ways that make male teachers feel uncomfortable because they choose to modify their clothing in a scantily clad manner I will keep the same energy and say I agree with the male teachers just as I would do vice versa

Your posts on other threads are disgustingly victim blaming.

Stop please

MN isn't perfect by any means, but it's obvious that men like Hadmysay find it incredibly threatening, and for that reason I hope it lasts forever.

PreciousTatas · 12/10/2025 15:02

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:52

So it's still a minority of Muslims from one specific ethnic group
Got it.
I do think it's not a good look for these pakistani men to have done what they done and if it was the other way around all hell would break loose, but then again it would never be the other way around and that's a whole other topic in itself.

Fucking hell.

'Not a good look'. Raping and abusing children is merely 'not a good look'.

Go on. Extrapolate. Why would it 'never' happen the other way around?

I know what you want to say. But will you have the balls to say it?

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:03

ThatCyanCat · 12/10/2025 14:20

You appear to object both to women displaying themselves to the male gaze, and also to them having spaces away from men.

Let's put this another way. Why do you think women might create a private exercise space away from men? And why do you think men might hold a public event in a public park to which anyone may spectate and allow men, boys and little girls but ban any female of pubescent age and over?

Who said i object to women having spaces away from men?
I support it but I support it for both genders not just women

Hang on. What has been banned by this particular mosque.

This charity event has been going on for years and years. interesting that this is the year that people have chosen to put it in the daily mail mumsnet etc etc in a shock, horror kind of way

Edited

These things have the spotlight shone on them eventually

That's a good thing for progress

Presumably because of the book where a main character married a 13 year old. 12 is a very common age for girls to start being put in a hijab, although some parents do it even earlier. The organisers don’t want their male runners being distracted by fitna. 😬

What are you even talking about ?

You seem confused.

If you have adult males wearing clothing that deliberately exposes their genitalia to female children - it is the adult male that is the problem - and fucking dangerous frankly.

If you have adult males unable to control their sexual urges based on the length of a female child’s skirt - it is the adult male that is the problem - and fucking dangerous frankly.

ETA - and anyone who pretends to not understand that is also fucking dangerous, to women and girls.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 12/10/2025 15:06

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:42

I'm a male because I think muslim women should be allowed to practice their religion 😂 and not be patronized by a bunch of liberal ignorant people who know very little about them or their religion? They are fine.
Speak to them. But this is the problem you don't.
You just assume.
They don't want to be like you and they don't need your help.

But this is the UK where men and women are equal under the law. If I wanted to attend this event and run, as a woman why shouldn’t I be allowed to? It is not a “men’s race” it is being tables as “inclusive” therefore, I should be able to turn up in shorts and a cropped running top and partake. It is irrelevant what their religious rules are, they’re totally irrelevant to me. The only relevant laws here are the ones of England and Wales

No religion operating in this country should be treating men and women differently, esp in public. No child should have to cover their hair for religious reasons. In fact no woman should cover her hair or face incase a poor man can’t contain himself. It creates the perspective men can’t contain themselves.

Women taking part in the race

And how do you know about this official banishment? Where is the proof that this is what is going on? And if possible I would welcome tangible proof.

It’s incredibly enlightening.
It’s like ‘Operation: Let Them Speak’ all over again.

@Hadmysay says :
“No it just brainwashes them into wearing leas clothes for the male gaze, that they need to do horrible somewhat even violent sex acts in the bedroom for their boyfriends and that sleeping around is liberating”.

you should be ashamed not showboating your misogynistic views / victim blaming of male violence and support of female oppression

this is like conversing with someone who has their head so far up their arse all recognisable logic has disappeared and there is literally no reaching a worthy brain cell

Edited

How is the truth misogyny? In the uk we have big problems with the things I've mentioned. It's not victim blaming. It's the truth.
These are feminist issues.

Obviously not. I think you didn’t understand my post. There is a recent history of women being banned from sport in this country and we are trying to move on from that which is why events like this seem backward and unacceptable by many. I hope that is clearer for you.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:12

Don't tell posters on here what we mean

I don't care.
May of you have basically said that. Something which you do a lot.
You are very patronizing and aren't fooling anyone

It is stated on the actual website for the charity run, linked near the start of the thread. And the relevant information has been copied and pasted and quoted several times. Have a look at the link if you can be bothered.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:14

PreciousTatas · 12/10/2025 14:25

Interesting.

Can it really be classed as free choice if you are born in to a religion that you can be killed, imprisoned or have property removed for leaving?

😂 Most won't be killed.
Do you know how extremely rare it is for Muslim women to be killed for having struggles with her Islamic faith

I would not conflate the two events. I understand why you do but it doesn’t necessarily follow that they are the same.

No. Nobody is so stupid that they don't know the reasons why women need single sex spaces, or want to argue about them, they are merely so misogynistic that they don't care.

I am sure you think you are soaring high with this game of pigeon chess but you have absolutely no idea what you sound like, as evidenced by the fact you even think it's not obvious that you're a man. Literally the only person you're fooling is yourself.

As a PP said, it's Operation Let Them Speak Mark II.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 15:15

ThatCyanCat · 12/10/2025 14:34

You seriously do not know why women need single sex changing rooms, rape crisis centres, sports events, exercise classes and so on? You cannot think of a single reason?

And you want us to respect what you have to tell us about Muslim women, or any women, or indeed anything at all?

I do trust me I do.
But tell me.
I want you to give me the reasons out loud.
