Has banned women and girls over the age of 12 from participating. Thoughts?

However, the courts have no legal authority under UK law.

They don't, but they do enable men to make two or more marriages. If sharia courts are not to be banned, steps should be taken to require them to refer to registrars, to weed out bigamy. Janice Turner in today's Sunday Times makes the link, with several UK examples, between bigamy and carrying out terror attacks. Islamism is dangerous because it legitimises the link between faith and violence, which us damaging for the majority of Muslims, who practice their faith here quietly.

No. Use your critical thinking and intelligence to think about what I might be suggesting. Life (and thought) is not as neat and binary as you seem to wish it to be.

Then are you suggesting that I can only be concerned about the rights of Muslim women because I am islamaphobic.

If that not the case you may need to state what your actuals concerns are more clearly

WeeGeeBored · 12/10/2025 14:41

ginasevern · 12/10/2025 14:36

I wasn't linking it to Sharia law but the thread (as is usually the case in open debate) had shifted to Sharia Law at the point I responded. And may I ask why you think I know "nothing at all" of the true facts. Perhaps you'd like to expand on that, or even give us all the benefit of your presumably superior knowledge/research.

Edited

I meant the true facts about this run. So tell me…Have you been a member of this mosque? Do you know why this run takes place at this time of year? Do you know of other events they put on for their community? Have you spoken to the families? Are you friends with any of them? I am curious to know.

PreciousTatas · 12/10/2025 14:41

If anyone is reading these posts wondering if it is worth fighting over this? If it's worth writing that post, sending that email, having that chat.

Questioning yourself, am I being mean? After all, it's just the brown women being oppressed at the minute. And their men tell me they are perfectly happy.

Am I overreacting?

No, you are not. The best predictor for the future is history. Look at the women in Iran in the 60's, they probably thought they would be making a fuss over nothing too, until it was too late.

We need to fight this. We have to.

Cries of 'transphobia' didn't shut the women of the UK up when it came to defending rights for all women. I dearly hope fear of 'Islamaphobia' does not either.

What all 2 million of them, spoken to them personally have you, I'm starting to suspect your male because you're going to an awful lot of trouble to make a case for keeping women in muslim communities isolated from the culture of the host country.

I'm a male because I think muslim women should be allowed to practice their religion 😂 and not be patronized by a bunch of liberal ignorant people who know very little about them or their religion? They are fine.
Speak to them. But this is the problem you don't.
You just assume.
They don't want to be like you and they don't need your help.

ThatCyanCat · 12/10/2025 14:42

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:37

No I actually know why. But I want you to tell me.
So again tell me why do you think women need their own spaces seperate to men.

If you already know why, why are you demanding that women justify to you their right to gather without you there? Since you are very obviously a man.

from what I read in the paper

So it must be true.

A beacon of community cohesion.

London council of Tower Hamlets omits anti-Semitism from list of hate crimes

'An inspection report last year found that a lack of trust and a lack of respect between political parties meant the executive at Tower Hamlets remained unchallenged. It concluded the council's decision-making was "dominated by an inner circle" around the mayor, Lutfur Rahman, who leads the Aspire party.'

'Tower Hamlets council removed St. George's flags from lampposts due to a policy against attaching unauthorized items to council infrastructure, citing safety concerns and routine maintenance. The council has a policy of applying this removal policy consistently to all flags, regardless of origin. This action led to controversy and criticism, as some residents perceived it as a double standard, particularly when contrasted with other flags like Palestinian ones, which had been visible for longer periods,,,,'

“Liberal”?? That is a moot point. In my opinion.

It is evident in every word of your posts.

Stop this please @Hadmysay

Wait, what??? How is anti semitism now part of a discussion on a fun run?

Maybe you could use your brain to think for yourself then.

Women who aren't Muslim can be concerned about the discrimination of Muslim women - it's what's known as feminism

It was in response to a poster who thinks everything's coming up roses in Tower Hamlets.

The specific and widespread grooming gangs I’m talking about aren’t ‘seen’ as Muslims, they ARE Muslims.

Predominantly Muslims originating from Pakistan.

Pakistani Muslims make up approximately one third of UK Muslims.

I really can’t see the point you are attempting to make.

So it's still a minority of Muslims from one specific ethnic group
Got it.
I do think it's not a good look for these pakistani men to have done what they done and if it was the other way around all hell would break loose, but then again it would never be the other way around and that's a whole other topic in itself.

There's loads of events for Muslim women.
They have the choice to go to them

Oh come on, change the record. You KNOW this is different. You are simply being obtuse. You are directing me to a link for women’s activities. For women. Not for women, girls of all ages and boys under 12. This charity run is advertised as being for families. Except it isn’t. God, you really don’t give a stuff about women, do you?

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 12/10/2025 14:53

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:21

It's what many of you are insinuating.
That the poor uneducated muslim women need saving like they don't already know the laws of their own religion 😂.
Like most don't actively love their religion

Insinuating? No, not good enough. You said of a specific previous poster:

You are not as liberal as you think trust me.
As we've seen with the comments about the "poor uneducated muslim women"

So now link to where they said it.

And while you’re at it explain why you think this particular run can be open to (their words):

Open to everyone: runners, walkers, and children (girls under 12 and boys of any age)

Why girls under 12 but boys can be any age?
Explain , clearly, what you think the difference is between those two groups and why girls are only girls if they are under 12 but boys are boys even if they are over 12.

It's also obvious from how he is imperiously dictating to women what our rights are while demanding we justify our rights to him.

I'll give him credit, he hasn't chosen a username like LadyGirlAnnabellaTheFemaleWoman like so many of them do, but the name he has chosen still rings rather different now we know why he's here.

You see what you want to see.

You've written some of the most disgusting victim blaming posts on other threads. That women deserve what they get because of the way they dress.

It's warped thinking.

No i am not the organiser. I just don't think it is illegal or more noteworthy than what our British men are up to. If Muslim women are upset and require support to challenge this, then I am there with them. Doesn't seem like they mind unless you can point to Muslim women speaking about how problematic this is?

If not, I am sure they can join the thousands of organised running events we do have that welcome everyone.

Why Muslim women? This is in London. An event in London is being organised which is discriminatory towards’women. It is an event t which is classing girls of 13 as women (and serious serious questions need asking why).

Onmytod24 · 12/10/2025 14:57

This charity event has been going on for years and years. interesting that this is the year that people have chosen to put it in the daily mail mumsnet etc etc in a shock, horror kind of way

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:58

VexedofVirginiaWater · 12/10/2025 14:18

And I would expect those male teachers to be asked to dress more professionally. I have no problem with there being uniform regulations, and with girls (and boys) being told to adhere to them if they take the mick, but the reason given for this should not be because of the effect on male teachers. It's insulting to the male teachers, because it implies that they can't control themselves.

No its the same thing.
if male teachers were modyfying their attire in a somewhat sexually provocative manner so you could see what they had for dinner, made their clothing shorter,or even tghter so their package was bulging it would make your daughters feel uncomfortable and you would call them perverts so for me it's the same thing.
If young girls are dressing in certain ways that make male teachers feel uncomfortable because they choose to modify their clothing in a scantily clad manner I will keep the same energy and say I agree with the male teachers just as I would do vice versa
