Has banned women and girls over the age of 12 from participating. Thoughts?

No it isn’t. How offensive.

Yes it actually is. And the truly offensive thing is that Sharia courts exist at all in the UK.

Merrymouse · 12/10/2025 14:24

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:21

It's what many of you are insinuating.
That the poor uneducated muslim women need saving like they don't already know the laws of their own religion 😂.
Like most don't actively love their religion

So how would you describe women in Afghanistan? Educated?

WeeGeeBored · 12/10/2025 14:24

To link this run to Sharia law is insane when you know nothing of the true facts.

Bumdrops · 12/10/2025 14:24

@Hadmysay says :
“No it just brainwashes them into wearing leas clothes for the male gaze, that they need to do horrible somewhat even violent sex acts in the bedroom for their boyfriends and that sleeping around is liberating”.

you should be ashamed not showboating your misogynistic views / victim blaming of male violence and support of female oppression

this is like conversing with someone who has their head so far up their arse all recognisable logic has disappeared and there is literally no reaching a worthy brain cell

Interesting.

Can it really be classed as free choice if you are born in to a religion that you can be killed, imprisoned or have property removed for leaving?

No one has said this
Don't tell posters on here what we mean

WeeGeeBored · 12/10/2025 14:28

Bigpinksweater · 12/10/2025 14:10

Well, let’s just lock women up altogether, so then they’re totally safe? What pandering nonsense. So glad the public is waking up to these issues.

Where did the poster women should be locked up?

it is the women posting on here who have used words like banned and excluded when, in truth, they know nothing about it.

Western culture excludes and degrades and enacts violence against women in so many ways and you are focusing on the community activities of this one mosque? For shame.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:28

Tessisme · 12/10/2025 14:01

That’s not really a choice though, if they are deliberately excluded. Also, this is described as a FAMILY event. Are Muslim women not part of the family?

https://www.instagram.com/sistersactivitiesclub

There's loads of events for Muslim women.
They have the choice to go to them

How does this not fall foul of the Equality Act?

I've just reported it to the Equality and Human Rights commission.

However, the courts have no legal authority under UK law.

And do you understand why they are needed?

Why are they needed tell me.
I want you to explain to me why you think they are needed.

WeeGeeBored · 12/10/2025 14:31

I despair over the state of feminism in this country. If I believed in conspiracy theories it would me my guess that all these distractions exist to keep Western women in their place by making them feel they are doing better than Muslim women. Superiority complex.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:32

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 12/10/2025 14:08

I'm talking about a country, the system that has approximately 65 million people living in it. A system that is based on secular values and not on religious values, a system that says women are equal to men (in theory at least) how does a religion who thinks a women is worth 2/3 of a man exist side by side.
Tower Hamlet is awash with tensions from what I read in the paper and perhaps illustrates that the 'communities' that have opposing values are not getting on and co-existing.

from what I read in the paper

So it must be true.

Are you suggesting that we should ignore discrimination against women until the problem of male violence against women is solved?

spannasaurus · 12/10/2025 14:32

No. Use your critical thinking and intelligence to think about what I might be suggesting. Life (and thought) is not as neat and binary as you seem to wish it to be.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:34

Merrymouse · 12/10/2025 14:09

I think the general opinion on this board is that men also need single sex spaces.

However, when millions of muslim women are currently being deprived of basic rights, with religion as the justification, it's fair to wonder whether exclusion is being used to oppress.

What are these basic rights.
I would argue there are far more muslim women that have basic rights than the ones that don't.
Remember not every muslim country is afghanistan

SouthernFashionista · 12/10/2025 14:34

@ThatSpryShaker you really should hang your head in shame. Talk about being an apologist for misogyny. There is nothing you can say to justify this hideous behaviour. I hope you don’t have daughters.

ThatCyanCat · 12/10/2025 14:34

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:30

Why are they needed tell me.
I want you to explain to me why you think they are needed.

You seriously do not know why women need single sex changing rooms, rape crisis centres, sports events, exercise classes and so on? You cannot think of a single reason?

And you want us to respect what you have to tell us about Muslim women, or any women, or indeed anything at all?

Unicorn34 · 12/10/2025 14:34

But nothing will be done as everyone is too bloody scared to!

We're not talking about the laws of they're 'own religion' we're talking about the laws of the land they live in, which protect them from being discriminated against within the country and within a religion. Religious Law doesn't not supersede Secular Law.

You think Muslim women have more rights but you don't know why women require single sex spaces?

Do you hear yourself?

To link this run to Sharia law is insane when you know nothing of the true facts.

I wasn't linking it to Sharia law but the thread (as is usually the case in open debate) had shifted to Sharia Law at the point I responded. And may I ask why you think I know "nothing at all" of the true facts. Perhaps you'd like to expand on that, or even give us all the benefit of your presumably superior knowledge/research.

Hadmysay · 12/10/2025 14:37

Bumdrops · 12/10/2025 14:09

I can’t bring myself to answer this … have u literally just been beamed down from another planet ????

No I actually know why. But I want you to tell me.
So again tell me why do you think women need their own spaces seperate to men.

WeeGeeBored · 12/10/2025 14:38

Something tells me that the discriminatory ignorance that this board has quickly descended to is exactly what that report wanted to achieve. And now a community event will probably be besieged by ignorant outside elements pretending to be protecting brown women they really couldn’t give a shit about.
