Caitlin Moran latest article in which she calls “women”, “non-trans women”

She is unbelievable. How she can call herself a feminist I do not know. Throw in some selective reporting of the JKR / Emma Watson argument and a lovely soft mention for convicted criminal and misogynist Boy George, this article has everthing except critical thinking.

link to article below - scroll through her usual vapid shit to the last item (no 1) in which she puts women into a subset of our own sex, that is “non-trans women”.

Caitlin Moran in the Times share token

How can I renounce gossip when Boy George calls JK Rowling a ‘wood snake’?

After the Harry Potter author took down Emma Watson on X, the Culture Club singer weighed in with Chinese mythology. I’ll never be free of this celebrity nonsense

Urgh. She just cannot see the damage that lib feminism does to all women so this is not a surprise.

Don't want to upset anyone, do we except actual women they can piss off and stop being so sensitive 🙄

Pleasantsort · 08/10/2025 23:05

She'd do anything to sell her shite books, that one. Has she transed any of her weans yet ?

Pudmyboy · 08/10/2025 23:10

What. An. Idiot.

SharonBotts · 08/10/2025 23:13

So, so disappointing. Obviously there is a Trans relative/friend/child of a friend etc somewhere that has shut down her thinking on this. Pathetic. It is unbearable when we can’t rely on other women - self-proclaimed feminists, no less - to get us through this hellscape of an historic moment. “Non-trans women”? Fuck right off.

I so regret ever buying one of your books, Caitlin.

timesublimelysilencesthewhys · 08/10/2025 23:20

I don't think that was too bad for Moran. She knows older women have a different understanding, and she said JKR reply was angry, without saying unnecessarily angry.

Pudmyboy · 08/10/2025 23:21

So glad I never have bought her books!
And okay I am prepared to be flamed for this, but I wish she would stand up straight, that bad posture won't do her back any favours!

DuesToTheDirt · 08/10/2025 23:35

I think you misspelt "Caitlin Moron".

Killeditwithkisses · 08/10/2025 23:38

I refer to her as Caitlin Moron now.

Ha! Snap!

Pianoaholic · 08/10/2025 23:39

I bought one of her books. How to be a woman (should it be re named How to be a non trans woman....)
That'll go to the charity shop.

At least you only bought one book. Because they were all pretty much the same book rehashed.

MusicalCarbuncle · 08/10/2025 23:48

I haven’t seen any of her previous writings on this subject but I enjoyed that article - it made me smile - and I’d say I’m broadly GC.

She is making fun of Boy George (totally justified - horror of a person by all accounts) and Emma Watson (also justified - grifter, new book to shift) but she is non-committal about JKR. Unless I’m missing something?

2021x · 09/10/2025 00:00

I don't understand the hate about this article, she says that older women disagree with younger women on this issue. To me that implies she is at least thinks that sex is real?

I also agree with her assessment that reason there is conflict with Emma Watson and JKR nothing to do with whether EW is wealthy, a pretty shit argument, but because they hare from different generations.

Also a wood snake isn't a bad thing, its just an observance of some traits, none of them good or bad.

Toseland · 09/10/2025 00:34

"Let’s be honest, it’s been one of the most complex and febrile debates of the past decade. There still aren’t any definitive conclusions for how to completely resolve it while ensuring the safety and happiness of everyone. And every single person who’s been prominently involved in it — on both sides — has undergone years of online rape and/or death threats."
Really?! Years of death and rape threats from both sides!
"Still no definitive conclusions..." !
The biggest feminist issue ever and she still doesn't know what's going on?!
What an idiot.
Bloody traitor.

Yawhat · 09/10/2025 03:29

As stupid as when the Greens called women "non-men".

Though gosh, is that the teensiest push of the Overton window by acknowledging that GCs have been receiving abuse all this time, and that it wasn't just the poor gender-addled special souls the media and her ilk have been painting it as such for well over a decade?

aporia · 09/10/2025 07:00

She loves the word “febrile” doesn’t she? Twice in one article.

GCman · 09/10/2025 07:17

Such a silly girl, an enemy of women.

zanahoria · 09/10/2025 07:18

As much as I dislike 'non trans women', at least she did not say 'cis'

Lovelyview · 09/10/2025 07:22

The comments are brilliant. She's a very silly woman.

So you agree we should rename women as “non-trans women?” Doesn’t this mean that women are only defined in relation to males? You don’t find that I men, what if she’d said “non-white women” in regards to black women? Would you not find that offensive if you were a black woman?

I think the issue is she claims to be a loudly outspoken ‘tell it like it is’ feminist - that’s her whole media brand.

And yet she has basically ignored the biggest threat to women’s legal rights that has been going on for the last few years.

And now she’s finally mentioned it (now it’s safe to do so and she won’t get cancelled) and all she does it talk about how complicated it all is, and refers to us a ‘non trans woman’. How fucking insulting.

She’s a fraud.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 09/10/2025 08:19

So she's decided it's finally safe to comment on an issue she's ignored for at least a decade despite making her entire career about being a feminist?

no thanks Caitlin, you've kept your head down on this for years when you 1. Quite clearly know what a women is 2. Built your entire career on talking about how women and men are different through the lens of being a feminist 3 knew your public support for women, the every day boring non wealthy women without a phone full of media contacts fighting for their jobs, their livelihoods, their reputations, would have made a difference. Your prerogative of course but your cowardice was noted and we don't need your support now because braver women than you have turned the tide

It's not support. It's an 'Oh it's so complicated/both sides/let's laugh at some celebrity nonsense instead' article.

MotherofPufflings · 09/10/2025 08:38

I thought it was pretty neutral really. She has young adult children who may well be passionately allied with "trans rights", as many of that generation are. I'm not going to condemn anyone who doesn't want to risk a massive personal fallout over this issue.

She is not a “girl”.
