Caitlin Moran latest article in which she calls “women”, “non-trans women”

She is unbelievable. How she can call herself a feminist I do not know. Throw in some selective reporting of the JKR / Emma Watson argument and a lovely soft mention for convicted criminal and misogynist Boy George, this article has everthing except critical thinking.

link to article below - scroll through her usual vapid shit to the last item (no 1) in which she puts women into a subset of our own sex, that is “non-trans women”.

Caitlin Moran in the Times share token

How can I renounce gossip when Boy George calls JK Rowling a ‘wood snake’?

After the Harry Potter author took down Emma Watson on X, the Culture Club singer weighed in with Chinese mythology. I’ll never be free of this celebrity nonsense

“And every single person who’s been prominently involved in it — on both sides — has undergone years of online rape and/or death threats“

Confused errr yeah. No that didn’t happen.

I thought it was pretty neutral really. She has young adult children who may well be passionately allied with "trans rights", as many of that generation are. I'm not going to condemn anyone who doesn't want to risk a massive personal fallout over this issue.

I don't get this argument. Her adult children and their trans allegiances. Parents of my generation not wanting to honestly discuss this issue is why such ludicrous lying ideology has got traction.

Sandycar · 09/10/2025 12:12

JKR is a brave principled feminist.
Caitlin Moran is none of those things.

QueenClinomania · 09/10/2025 12:14

Great. We really are unimportant.
The need some people have to pander to men is ridiculous. Pick me pick me pick me love me im great i put you first all the time love me notice me

I think I just read my final Moran column. A shocking waste of column inches and my time. “One of the most complex and febrile debates of the past decade” eh? What is so complex about it? XY can’t magically become XX.

  • It's complex if you think not making men sad is at least as important as women's safety, privacy and dignity

I've got a theory that everyone who describes the issue as "complex" is full terf on the inside but exists in an industry/ family/ social circle where to admit to this = instant outcast.

TheKeatingFive · 09/10/2025 13:01

hholiday · 09/10/2025 11:48

Can you copy any of the best? I do find it ironic that The Times is chock-full of brilliant writers who have led the thinking on this issue, from Janice Turner and Hadley Freeman to Alex Massie and Sarah Ditum. And then the one person who has published a book called How to be a woman apparently does not get it.

It was always obvious Moran didn't have a backbone. The version of feminism she espoused was never controversial in any way, it always toed the line of what men wanted from her. The bolshy language distracted from that fact a little.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 09/10/2025 13:33

If women are non-trans women, are transwomen therefore trans non-trans women?

Which would make us non-trans non-trans women, and them ...

Always think of Moran when I see this meme.

I really hope our non-thinking, non-feminist and non-relevant Caitlin and the Times editors get to read these great comments.
Those in the paper are in a similar vein and are overwhelmingly similarly scathing.
Talk about making yourself look stupid.
I bet CM smugly thought she was being oh sooo clever with the 'non trans women' comment.
Didn't anyone in editorial think to question it or are still they too much in thrall to TRA woo woo?

TheStroppyFeminist · 09/10/2025 14:15

I've long thought she was mealy mouthed and pathetic on this subject. Coward. And not a feminist.

WimbledonWhites · 09/10/2025 17:15

She’s saying “less heat, more light” in a slightly different way and assuming that there can be a compromise between the two sides. I’m so fed up of these people, Greg James being another with his book, who just act all superior and say oh if you just listened to trans people or if we just discussed this calmly it could all be sorted out. They are just so clueless.

WandaWomblesaurusWonka · 09/10/2025 23:15

Commenting on celebrity gossip is about the best Moran can do these days. I feel sorry for her as a non trans woman.

Gowlett · 09/10/2025 23:20

Nobody has ever asked me if I’m a non-trans woman, cis or she/her or they/them. I just am. A woman. That’s it, AFAIK…

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2025 01:39

I CBA to read it, but vaguely wonder if she did it on purpose to prompt a bit of interest in her column, which it seems to have done…a little bit. Tbh I used to read it but haven’t for years.

SpidersAreShitheads · 10/10/2025 04:02

The worst thing is that in the grand scheme of things, her article isn’t even that bad. We’re all so accustomed to the most wild and ridiculous things being presented as fact that her stance seems relatively neutral!

I mean, it’s not. There’s still plenty of TRA bollocks woven in. It’s just not as bad as it could have been.

Moran has been shamefully quiet about one of the single biggest challenges women have faced collectively in recent years. Not a peep. But now it’s all looking a bit safer she arrives to describe an important argument about women’s rights as trivial celebrity gossip, while parroting things like “non-trans women” and “both sides are as bad as each other”.

She then goes on to suggest that the disagreement may have been settled by the two sides getting in a room and “having a big cry” before “trying to understand each other’s realities”.

I don’t even know where to start with that. Maybe the unbelievably sexist trope about women having a big old cry. Or perhaps the suggestion that there are different realities.

Sure, Moran didn’t stick the knife into JKR but she’s still firmly got the fence post wedged up her arse while peering anxiously into the TRA garden to make sure she hasn’t trampled on their imaginary flowers.

This. You've summed it up completely.

There's a quote from Moran along the lines of something is deeply mysogynistic if the men aren't being asked to do the same, and how it's bullshit that she can sniff out as a strident feminist.

Men in women's sports Caitlin? That's something that doesn't affect the men like it does women. Where's your strident feminism!?

I have a feeling someone in her close family is TRA and she's picked them. I can understand that, but it sure as hell compromises all the things you've sold yourself on to the public.

Justme56 · 10/10/2025 09:21

I asked AI if it would be okay if I described myself as a non trans woman in my emails. Apparently not. The reason - it could be inferred that I am being negative about trans people by saying ‘I am not that!’ - like making a point. Best just stick to woman I think!

I'd love to know the truth of this. I strongly suspect that all the sensible, unfashionable middle aged ladies (who it turns out are the real feminists - not the swishy haired media darlings like Moran) driving the Terf side are not writing death/rape threats.

borntobequiet · 10/10/2025 09:33

I think that someone who describes herself as a ‘giddy optimist’ doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously in any circumstances.

TheKeatingFive · 10/10/2025 09:35

I was offended by her suggestion that we can sort this out by everyone getting into a room together and having a good cry. 🙄

Girl is as clueless as she comes, isn't she?

Why on earth would I as a woman want to share a cry with a man role playing his idea of what he thinks my reality is?

I mean really it's deeply sexist & patronising from every angle isn't it

NoBinturongsHereMate · 10/10/2025 09:52

I think k she's suggesting JKR and Watson have a good cry together. Not that that's much better.

If a woman had exacerbated to a situation where I felt my children were at risk and then described her deep love for me in the paper (as Watson did) I wouldn’t be crying when we met

NorthSouthEast · 10/10/2025 14:49

I wonder what Caitlin thinks about the violence being perpetrated right now against the attendees and speakers at FiLiA? Sure it’s both sides Caitlin?
